When the chief instructor and your own instructor are telling you to relax, it's good to take their advice.

Something I need to keep in mind too. I've had professors tell me to relax... When you make high expectations of yourself you set yourself up to fall hard. (breaking down because of the pressure you put yourself under.. which then leads to failure... yup... I need to keep that in mind period >.>)

Also nice little insight into Chuckys mind set. He probably is one of the better flyers there it's just that he's pushing himself harder than he needs to because he's really competitive and doesn't even realize it sometimes. Also Chuck's cool. Hope he gets more 'screen time'. ;D

Nice to know Chucky has a good faculty adviser, but assuming it is this early in his studies, shouldn't his adviser discourage him from actually flying, using simulators instead until he gets 'good enough'?

Simulators are better for procedures training. Chucky would most certainly have had a couple simulator lessons, but they would have covered cockpit setup, radio, and air traffic procedures. Learning to land the airplane is very physical, very mechanical. Even the best simulators can't emulate the randomness and depth perception of the real thing.

A very important lesson. When you're in law school, they try to teach you that 95% of success at trial is facts and law. The other 5% is YOU. Now, it's important to be good, 'cause there'll be times when that 5% DOES decide who wins. Over my 30 year career, I have a .500 average in front of juries. I lost as many as I won. But, like baseball, get a hit half the time and you're a star. Even so, that's a LOT of losses. And the clients who lose don't care if you won ALL of your other cases. Nice writing my friend.
