Thank you, and normally I would be that friend. I do the house repairs, work on the cars, stuff like that. But I can't fit under the hood of the car lately, or get up off the ground very well at the moment.

... Yeah, yeah that's very understandable. Still thrilled for the both of you, and I'm sure once the lil one is past the needier portions and can be set down for five minutes without crying you'll be back to getting things in order.
... Just in time to babyproof absolutely EVERYTHING.

This is true. it is very frustrating to need to get stuff done (like the water heater a few weeks ago) and know that I just have to sit there and let someone else fix it. I am not sure if we can baby-proof everything, I think the cats would resent being bubble-wrapped.

Speaking as someone who helped her mom with two little ones and dealing with a very nasty cat, it's the cats who should be scared. The second that lil bundle starts crawling tails will be pulled and fur will be made sticky. Even the most claw happy cat will find no solace as the little one seeks to slake his or her thirst for petting a fluffy kitty and poking at something so fascinating.
These are the dark times your cast shall speak of in whispered tones in those dark hours when few things seem right with the world.

none of ours are really scratchy or angry. In fact, I figure Hel will probably want to be mauled (little masochist). I imagine they will all just want any attention they can get, "oh you want to slobber all over me and pull on my fur...YES!!" I just need to remember to trim their claws more often, they get all kneady and it can lead to unintended perforations. I think their biggest gripe will be that we have to put all the cat toys up while the Bean is young so that they are not a choking hazard.

If you are worried about claw trimming, and don't mind a little extra expense, I might actually suggest claw caps. I put them on my cat because I refuse to declaw her and so the owners of the building insist. It's a bit of a pain and you do still need to trim them first, but it tends to give a month without needing to trim and renders all pawing, even playful, pain free for everyone.
Not sure if that will work for you guys, but I figured it was worth mentioning since trims are super stressful anyways.
