He's a worm! Right? So he's an animal! So... technically it counts, right? Right!?
Not like I strictly adhere to only posting furries/anthros here anyway, but still it DOES count if you really think about it, and I swear this isn't to connect with my recent interest in bug characters either, it just kind of happened that way! Actually, in terms of interest, Earthworm Jim has been old of my most cherished childhood memories. Early on I loved the video games and the sheer absurdity of the whole concept and the love I had for the series shaped a lot of my artistic style and creativity. It's very common for me to get "this reminds me of Earthworm Jim" from comments and while I rarely aim characters to be reminiscent of him specifically, I always accept that comment as he and Doug Tenaple's work in general is such an old inspiration to me that somewhere in my sub-conscious it ended up inspiring whatever I drew.
Recently I've gotten the entire cartoon series on DVD and watching it has put the character back to my attention. I used to draw him a good bit, but it's been years since I've done so, so it was nice to return to him. I've always drawn the more goofy side of the character, which is fun, but I wanted to capture the more gritty look that the games had. (specifically the first) For such a purposefully stupid concept, it had some bad ass art! I've also never drawn Snott along with him and as I've gained a love of drawing blobs through the years, whether that be literal or figurative, given my certain interests, I tossed him in for good effect as well.
