Chapter 92 - Arceanic To The Rescue!!!

Taking out his Pokedex, Chris brought up a blueprint of the Arceanic causing Smith and all the Yamask to jolt back in surprise. "Wh-What's up?" Chris asked, looking at everyone and blinking confused. "Just startled is all... That must be what they use nowadays huh...?" Smith asked, looking closely at the device. "Ah! Yeah, it's a Pokedex. They had them back in your time too, right? I mean, a hundred years really isn't THAT long." Chris smiled. "Aye, we had them. But they were, well, lets just say different. In comparison to our time, these things are positively transparent size wise, and I don't recall our devices ever having that kind of capability." Smith replied, Chris chuckling in response while holding it out. "Well, explanations can come later once we get outta this mess. For now, lets focus on the task at hand." Chris reminded, everyone nodding and gathering closely. "Alright then, since there's so many of you I don't think this tiny image will quite do it, plus everyone on the Guardian need to know what's what too so..." he paused, looking the hologram while holding up his staff. "Alright everyone! We're goin' over the plan so listen up!!" he shout through his mind, everyone around him and on the Guardian jolting in surprise from hearing him in their heads once again. "Huh, how he do that?" Serenity asked. "Ninetails again I'd wager. Looks like you just became a tad obsolete." Alicia snickered causing Serenity to scowl. "Not know what obsolete mean but not like it." she replied. "It means you've lost a purpose." Alicia explained smugly with a smirk on her face, Serenity grumbling and facing down. "H-Hey, c'mon you two. This isn't the time for that." Rose reminded with a nervous smile, pointing out the barrier around them. "Yes, yes. Do forgive me. I suppose it IS a tad impolite to poke fun at the little people." Alicia replied, patting Serenity on the head with the tip of her tail causing Serenity to twitch her eye in aggravation. "Now now darling, do keep your focus." Alicia reminded before slithering off with a snicker, Serenity grumbling as Rose looked at the two and let out a sigh, shaking her head with a "wadaya gonna do?" kind of shrug.

"That aside, you alright? Looks like you're running out of help..." Rose point out, noticing a majority of the Pokemon behind them having collapsed due to fatigue, those remaining struggling to stay on their feet. "Doing okay, but can feel getting weak again. We not have much time." Serenity replied, glancing behind her as other Pokemon collapsed, Lucario beginning to tremble behind her. "Just gotta hope he...!!" Rose replied with a pause, jolting in surprise when they suddenly saw a huge blast of light over the Arceanic wreckage, taking on the form of the ship in its heyday the way Chris created an illusion of the Caterpithia when the Guardian was sailing above the surface. "Alright then! Here's what were gonna do everyone!" they heard him shout, Rostron and those in the bridge watching as well. "This is how the Arceanic looked back when it was above the surface. Now, over the years..." Chris paused, everyone watching as his illusion of the ship suddenly disintegrated before them until forming its current state. "The ships fallen apart pretty bad. However, there SHOULD still be enough stability left to get the Guardian out of that chasm." he explained, everyone looking at each other bewildered and muttering as Chris went on. "Going by the blueprints of the ship, the strongest points should be along the following sections." he point out, several spots on the hull suddenly showing a white glow. "The plan is to use precision to blast the ship free from the seafloor, landing several shots at the points you see glowing above. On top of breaking loose these sections, the vibrations should help loosen the rest of the ship without causing damage to the structure within." he explained, those around him and on the Guardian starting to nod at his idea. "Before we fire at the Arceanic, I'll have the Yamask dig their way down so we have as much of the hull exposed as possible. I want to avoid using whatever blasts I can to get it out of the ground." he went on, Smith grumbling nervously at the idea of having the Arceanic fired upon. "Lad, you sure this can be done without turning the girl into a pile of dust? She's been down here a long, LONG time now." he reminded, Chris nodding while looking up at his illusion. "As long as we stick to firing ONLY at these locations, and simultaneously, the ship should make it out unscathed, save for a few added scratches." he replied.

"Once the Yamask have dug out enough of the hull, we'll blast the ship free and, together, we'll use their power to lift it from the seafloor." he continued, suddenly forming countless Yamask illusions and having them grab the ships hull. "With all of them combined, we should have the oomph necessary to carry the ship off into the horizon." he explained before having his illusion sail off far into the distance. "Once there's enough space between the ship and the chasm, all that's left..." he paused, turning his illusion before having it rush towards the Guardian, slamming it down where the ice holds the barrier in place. "And with that, the Guardian should be free." he finished, those on the Guardian showing wary expressions and murmuring among themselves. "It's as I said, it's 50-50 at best but... Either we give it our all, or time will run out anyway." he affirmed, those around him and on the Guardian nodding nervously in agreement. "Lad... I think you're overestimating our capabilities here. This lot can barely tackle those Dusknoir when united, even with their massive numbers. If those Dusknoir can simply swat them aside like flies, how do you expect them to have the might necessary to lift a 52k ton ship?!" Smith asked, the Yamask looking at one another as doubtful as the Captain. "It's like I told you, you're not human anymore. Of course, I guess neither am I in a way, so that's how I know you can do it. You might not believe it, but thanks to Ninetails I lift the Guardian over there all by myself! Flew it right over the Gyarados leader back on the surface!" he grinned with a peace sign, Smith and the Yamask blinking at him in surprise. "And if you ever do that again I'll fry what little brain you've got..." he heard Ninetails voice echo within his mind, causing Chris to jolt and laugh nervously. "If you give it your all, I know you can do it if you work together! You just have to believe in yourselves and tap into the powers you've ignored all these years! Think about it, you've sat around for a hundred years letting it build up... If you let it all out at once, you'll have more than enough to get the job done!" he coaxed with a thumbs up, Smith and the Yamask looking at one another for a moment before smirking and nodding in response. "Alright then lad, lets give it a shot!" Smith replied, motioning with his arms as if pulling up sleeves.

"Alright! Well then, to use your powers, you folks gotta know what they are, so listen up!" he ordered, all of the Yamask nodding and gathering closely. Flipping open his Pokedex, he held it up to several them. "Yamask! The spirit Pokemon!" it exclaimed, causing them to jolt. "Going by the list here, the moves we'll be using are Shadow Ball, which you've all seen the Captain here use already." he point out, smirking at Smith as he faced away and cleared his throat. "Feels like gas..." Smith muttered. "You'll also be using Power Split and Protect, got it?" Chris asked, the Yamask and Smith looking at one another with a shrug. "See, by using Power Split we'll make sure your energy stays balanced. I don't need any of you giving out on me in the middle of this. Kinda learned about that by watching the Pokemon on the Guardian." he explained. "As far as Protect, I'll have a select group of you using that on the Arceanic when we blast it out of the seafloor. That should help us make sure the ship suffers as little damage as possible." he went on, everyone looking at one another with a nod and facing their hands. "Sounds like a decent idea but it would help if WE had an idea of how to use those, er, powers?" Smith replied, looking at the Yamask with a shrug. "I know it sounds weird but..." Chris paused, looking at everyone. "You're spirits now, your Pokemon, therefore you have all the powers of a Pokemon whether you believe it or not. Tapping into your abilities should come naturally." he explained. "Can I have the Andersson's and officers come up please?" he asked, the mentioned Yamask hovering up. "Alright, I need all of you to join hand in hand and close your eyes." he ordered, the Yamask nodding and curiously doing as told. "Alright, all you have to do is think of the bonds you share. Brothers in arms..." he smirked, looking at the officers. "A family..." he added, looking at the Andersson's. "Think of the bonds you share in your own ways, of the importance you feel each other possesses. By thinking of one another, by thinking of all that you'd do for the person whose hand you're holding, that will help open a path between you for your energy to flow!" Chris explained, the Yamask looking at one another and smiling before closing their eyes once more.

"Alright, now all you've got to do is feel the energy within you, and let it flow out of your bodies. Let it flow through your hands into the person next to you. And remember, you're brothers. Sisters. Even if not by blood, you're all a family. Feel the bonds you've created all these years, and you'll do just fine." he added before facing Smith. "Just like this. May I borrow your hand sir?" Chris asked, Smith blinking at him before grunting and holding out his hand. "A man who I feel is a hero, who I honor and respect. Someone I now look up to." Chris chuckled, Smith smirking as well before jolting when Chris's golden aura started flowing through his arm. "See there? Just like that! You just have to feel a bond with the person you want to give energy to and it's easy!" he point out, taking his hand away from Smith's and stepping back. "Once you've got it mastered though contact, you can spread your energy even if you're not touching the person." he explained, the Yamask noticing the trail of aura flowing between Chris and Smith, the Captain letting out a hick as if slightly drunk. "I think that's enough lad. Feeling a tad woozy." Smith said, letting out another hick. "R-Right! Sorry. Ninetails energy is a lot to handle. I should know." Chris laughed, cutting off the energy link between them as Smith looked himself over, the golden aura around him slowly fading away. "Whew, that's better. Stuff makes ya tipsy if you take in too much." Smith point out. "Yes, there's also that. You've got to make sure you keep your energy in balance. Don't put out too little, and don't put out too much." Chris instructed, the Yamask nodding before watching the Andersson's and officers as they started practicing, each releasing an eerie aura little by little that spread through them until they were all surrounded within their collective energies. "That's it! You're gettin' it! That's Power Split!" Chris praised, the Yamask looking at one another with a grin, Chris noticing a few looking wobbly. "Control it now! Remember, not too much, not too little..." he point out, the Yamask jolting and nodding.

"Alright then. Now I need everyone else to join in little by little." he ordered, the Yamask around them looking at one another warily before nodding and joining hands with the Andersson's and Officers. "Good... Good!! Steady now, don't rush it. Thaaat's it..." Chris coaxed, watching as the aura around the Yamask gradually spread through the swarm. "I guess bein' ghost types mean their aura looks different." he thought, noticing their energy growing around them like a dark flame. "Still, there's something inspiring about it, seeing so much power coming from such small Pokemon." he muttered, smirking as the Yamask continued spreading and growing their energies. "Alright, now I want you to slowly, very slowly, let go of one another and spread apart. Get a grasp on spreading your energy without contact." he instructed, the Yamask looking at one another while cautiously doing as told. "Easy... Eeeasy. Not too fast now!! Alright, now spread a little, good... Careful! Little too far... Alright! Now keep it steady..." Chris ordered, hovering his gaze over the crowd and noticing a lone Yamask hiding away behind them in the promenade. "Alright, now just keep that up for a little bit. Make sure nobody gets woozy looking, and we'll move on to the other two abilities once we know you've got this one in the bag." he ordered, the Yamask nodding before watching one another. "I'll be back Captain." Chris told Smith, the Captain blinking at him confused before Chris point out the lone Yamask. "Ah, him. I wouldn't waste too much time." Smith replied with a wave of his hand. "I did say it had to be a unanimous thing. One can ruin it for everyone." Chris replied, the Captain letting out a sigh before grunting in agreement. Nodding at Smith, Chris made his way past the Yamask and headed up to the promenade, the lone Yamask jolting and backing away as Chris swam up and landed before it near the entrance. "Why aren't you joining the others?" he asked, the Yamask looking up at him warily before slowly facing down.

"I'm guessing you're Mr. Ismay..." Chris said, crossing his arms as the Yamask jolt wide eyed and inched back, looking up at Chris once more. "I know what you did when the ship sank. That explains why you're here instead of with the others. I'd wager you're not very popular, are you?" Chris asked, raising an eyebrow as the Yamask faced down sadly. "Well, if anything I'd consider that all the more reason to get out there. You've got a lot of making up to do, and now's a great time to start if you ask me." Chris point out, Mr. Ismay jolting again before glancing at the swarm of Yamask behind Chris, continuing to practice their Power Split ability. "You've been stuck here with everyone for a hundred years now. They've bound to of said their peace to you and more throughout your years here, and I'm guessing their general attitude and treatment towards you in the time you've been here has been pretty rough. With that in mind, I'd say you've served your punishment for what you did." Chris point out, Mr. Ismay looking up at him with his head tilt curiously. "But serving your punishment is only half the game. Now you've gotta work on clearing your name. If you get out there and help everyone, I'll be sure to put in a good word for you." Chris assured, giving Mr. Ismay a slight smirk. "Trust me, if you get out there you won't get any scorn for lending a hand. If you want to be remembered as more than just the coward of the Arceanic, you've gotta get to work. I know that's a harsh thing to say, but I'm not gonna sugarcoat it." he added, Mr. Ismay rubbing his arm with a guilty expression. "This plan's only gonna work if EVERYONE is involved. That includes you sir. If you refuse to do anything, refuse to help, refuse to leave, you'll be ensuring all those people remain trapped on this ship, and ensuring the rescue fails. Those Dusknoir are a pretty brutal group. If they see even one of you refusing to do anything, refusing to leave, they'll make sure everybody suffers. Do you have any idea what THAT will do to you?" he asked, Mr. Ismay looking up wide eyed and trembling, glancing at the Dusnkoir floating together above the ship.

"So, you gonna help us? Or are you gonna be the man who cowered through TWO disasters?" Chris asked, squatting and holding a hand out to Mr. Ismay, the Pokemon looking at his hand silently before facing the Yamask and the Dusknoir. "You have a chance to make things right. To be strong... Face the challenge Mr. Ismay. If they can do it, so can you if you swallow your fear and put your best foot forward. Take my hand and give it your all, that's all I'm asking. The choice is still yours, I just want you to make the best one." Chris coaxed, keeping his hand held out. Looking at it silently, Mr. Ismay slowly reached out and took it, Chris giving Ismay's hand a shake before standing straight. "Alright, come with me." he ordered, Mr. Ismay nodding warily and following closely behind. "Alright everyone! That should do it!" Chris shout, the Yamask jolting before cutting off their energies and turning to face him. "You did great everyone. I told ya it would come naturally!" he grinned, giving the crowd a thumbs up as Smith hovered up. "How did it go lad?" he asked. "Why ask me?" Chris replied with a smirk, stepping aside exposing Mr. Ismay, the Pokemon jolting and lowering its head as the Yamask around them scowled down at him, Smith looking at Ismay silently before crossing his arms. "Ya came out. That's all that matters presently. Join the ranks." Smith ordered, Ismay looking up at him and Chris warily before nodding and joining the other Yamask, only for the others to distance themselves from him. "Alright everyone! None of that!" Chris shout up, tapping his staff down on the deck causing the crowd to jolt. "Either we work together or not at all. I got him to come out, now I expect you to swallow your issues and work with him, understood?" Chris asked, the Yamask nodding and begrudgingly gathering around Ismay, with two of the Yamask's floating in front of him. "Which ones are they sir?" Chris asked. "Ah, that'd be Phillips and Bride." Smith muttered back. Watching silently, the Captain and Chris saw Phillips shoot a hand out towards Ismay, causing Ismay to jolt back and shut his eyes nervously. "Heh, ya know, I really do like that guy." Chris smirked, Smith grunting in agreement as they watched Ismay open his eyes, noticing Phillips hand reaching out and blinking in surprise before looking at Phillips and taking his hand, the two shaking before Bride did the same. "Let bygones be. Very good." Chris chuckled as Phillips and Bride float at Ismay's sides, the crowd looking at the three in surprise before looking at one another with a smirk and facing Chris together.

"Alright then!! Good on ya everyone!" Chris grinned. "Next up is Shadow Ball and Protect!! Since the Captain here already knows how to use Shadow Ball pretty well, I'll let him teach you while I handle tutoring a group on Protect. Sound good?" he asked, everyone nodding before facing Smith, the Captain clearing his throat. "Can't say I fancy the power too much as it leaves your stomach feeling a tad queasy, but if you want it taught I'll do my best to teach." Smith replied. "Well, you're a hero to them too. A legend. Who better to learn a power like this from than the man they admire?" Chris grinned, nudging Smith on the side causing him to glance away embarrassed. "Good luck Captain!" he said with a thumbs up before calling out to the Yamask and taking a portion of them down to the seafloor along the hull to practice their Protect ability. Looking up at everyone, Smith rubbed the back of his head nervously. "Err... Alright... So for me it's kind of like... Belching perhaps...?" Smith told the crowd, his explanation causing some to twitch an eye while others looked at one another with "blech" kind of expressions, the younger Yamask snickering and laughing before letting out random burps causing the older Yamask to lecture them and scowl at Smith. "W-Well that's just my experience! I don't mean to stir trouble!" Smith point out, slightly red in the face and groaning. "Anyway... Ya just gotta focus and..." he began, showing off the ability for everyone. With the Captain instructing those on the deck and Chris working with those along the hull, the Yamask slowly but surely got a grasp on their abilities, with those under Smith's command forming more powerful Shadow Ball's with every attempt and those along the ship with Chris crafting better and better barriers along the hull. "Alright everyone!! Looking good, looking real good!!" Chris grinned, looking at the glowing shield along the ship and watching those on deck send their Shadow Ball's flying about above. "I think we're just about rea...!!" he said, pausing with a jolt and a sudden wary look on his face. Noticing his sudden silence, some of the Yamask turned, seeing his expression and nudging the others, pointing out his odd behavior. Floating up around him, several gave Chris a concerned poke as he stood motionless, almost as if he'd suddenly been shot before turning his focus to Serenity's mega stone.

"We're out of time..." he muttered, watching the stone flicker weakly. "We're out of time!!!" he shout before rushing back up to the deck, the Yamask jolting and looking at one another nervously before nodding and following. "Captain!! We're out of time!!" he repeat, landing on the deck and stumbling into Smith, the Captain jolting in surprise and catching Chris. "E-Easy lad." he replied, straightening Chris up as the Yamask above them ceased their training and lowered to their level. "O-Out of time." Chris repeat, pointing out Serenity's stone before facing the Guardian, noticing the shield starting to dim. "I can't see any aura coming from the Pokemon, looks like they've all given out." Chris muttered before suddenly leaping off the bow and soaring through the water, Ninetails aura streaming behind him. "O-Oy!! Lad!! What about us?!" Smith shout with a hand outstretched. "I'll be back!!" he replied, facing forward as he reached the barrier. Looking inside, he found the girls and Lucario still at the bow, watching as Lucario finally gave out and collapsed behind Serenity leaving her trembling weakly on her own. "D-Damn it..." he muttered, gritting his teeth. "Serenity!! Hang in there!! We're moving on with the plan so just keep it up a little longer!!" he shout, Serenity glancing up at him with a winced eye and nodding weakly, her teeth grit as well. "If you intend to save us then get to work! Don't waste time fretting over us!!" Alicia shout, both she and Rose nodding at one another before facing Serenity. "Alright then, make the most of what we've got." Alicia told Serenity before coiling her tail around Serenity's waist, Rose putting her hand on Serenity as well. "Not sure I'll be much help but... I'll do what I can!" Rose smiled, Serenity looking at the two in surprise. Seeing this, Chris's eyes went wide eyed as Serenity nodded and started pulling in their energies, the barrier letting off a dim flash and restoring itself slightly. "G-Get to work!!" Alicia shout up at Chris. "Th-This kinda hurts..." Rose groaned, looking up at Chris as well. "G-Girls..." Chris muttered, backing away from the barrier with a sudden nod. "We're on it!!" he shout, facing the crowd of people on the ship. "Don't worry!! We're getting you out of here!!" he assured before racing back to the Arceanic, those on board backing out of his way as he landed on the deck. "This is it everyone! You ready?!" he asked, the Yamask facing one another nervously once again. "It's now or never. That barrier's goin' down any moment now, so if we're doing this..." he added, looking at them all. Facing the others, Smith was the first to let out a grunt and hover up to him. "Aye, ready." he replied, with the Andersson's, Phillips and Bride, Smith's Chief and his Officers floating up with a solute, letting out "aye aye!!" noises. "G...!!" Chris was about to reply, pausing wide eyed when another Yamask float up warily, glancing at Smith and the others before nervously saluting as well, letting out a quiet "a-aye..." type of noise as well.

"...Good man Mr. Ismay." Smith said, the Andersson's and other Yamask that had gathered looking at Ismay in silence before nodding at him with a smile, Phillips and Bride floating up to him and chattering happily, the two giving him a pat on the shoulders causing Ismay to smile and chatter as if offering another apology, Phillips and Bride waving it off with a "no worries" kind of noise before guiding him up next to Smith and Chris. "I'm proud of you too." Chris smirked, giving Ismay a thumbs up before jolting and letting out a groan, glancing at Serenity's stone. "A-Alright, back to the task at hand." he muttered, looking at everyone. "Look at this!! Even the one you thought was the worst has stood forward, willing to help despite his fears!! Are you really gonna let the one labeled the coward of the Arceanic outdo you?! Are you going to let yourselves take on that label?!" Chris shout, Ismay rubbing his arm in guilt. "Sorry sir, gotta do something to push em a bit." Chris muttered to Ismay, getting a wave and an "It's okay" kind of noise in response. Hearing this, the Yamask looked at one another in agitation before letting out loud shout of objection collectively, everyone swarming about before gathering before Chris and Smith with a solute at the ready. "Huh, now that's what I call a dose of psychology..." Smith muttered, glancing at Chris with a smirk before floating forward. "Alright everyone, this is it!! Lets give it our all!!" Smith shout, all of the Yamask shouting back with their fists up before facing Chris. "You give the orders lad and we'll do all we can." Smith assured. Nodding, Chris gave a quick thanks before facing the Dusknoir floating together above. "What about you? Do they have your approval to do this? Keep in mind it's probably your only chance at getting them outta this place." Chris reminded, the Dusknoir facing one another for a moment before nodding and lowering to his level. "We'll undo the curse that binds them, but any sign of suspicious activity and the chains come back. All it takes is ONE of them making a break for it, and so help me..." the leader warned, pushing his finger against Chris's chest before having the others gather at his sides.

Putting their hands together, they gave off an eerie aura before suddenly giving their hands a collective yank apart, causing the Arceanic to flash before the Yamask and Smith's chains appeared and disintegrated, everyone feeling themselves over and looking at one another excitedly. "Alright then, all of you ready?" Chris asked, everyone jolting before facing him with a nod. "After all these years..." Smith muttered, feeling over his chest where the chain had been, taking a deep breath and letting out a sigh of relief, the crowd of Yamask cheering excitedly and twirling about, holding each others hands while doing so. "Hang on girls..." Chris muttered, feeling Serenity's stone as it flickered, looking at the barrier as it glowed dimly. Showing a sudden stern look on his face, Chris slammed his staff down causing it to let off a bright flash, Ninetails aura spiraling up from it causing those on the Arceanic to jolt in surprise. "We're doing this NOW everyone!! Brace yourselves!!" Chris warned through his mind, those on the Guardian facing the Arceanic and holding one another nervously. "Serenity!! Girls!!" he shout, causing them to jolt and face the ship weakly. "If this doesn't work, well..." he paused, the girls looking at one another nervously. "I just wanted to remind you of how much I love you, and of how getting to be with all of you has been the greatest miracle in my life. I'm so proud of each of you, way more than you'll ever know." he told them, everyone on the Guardian blinking at the girls before swooning over the comments causing the girls to blush embarrassed and face away from the crowd. "I've said it before and I'll say it again, you're the type of girls most people and Pokemon alike could only dream of being with. I'll never consider myself deserving of having you three by my side... Such strong, brave, beautiful, talented and big hearted girls... But I'll always be grateful. You've made this journey worth taking. You've made my life a dream come true. If this fails... My only regrets are not getting to tell even more people and Pokemon about how amazing you are, about how much you mean to me, and not getting to show it more than I have..." he finished, smiling towards the ship as the girls continued flushing. Turning to Smith and the Yamask, Chris nodded and held up his staff. "Lets go everyone!! Lets save the Guardian!!" he ordered, getting a loud collective shout in response as he shot his staff up, launching a massive ball of energy resembling a rocket to signal their rescue attempt had begun and to encourage those on the Guardian.

Ordering the digging team to rush to the bow, the group nodded and hurried along, lining up by the hundreds along both sides of the Arceanic. "Ready everyone? And... DIG!!!" Chris shout, the Yamask shouting in response before their eyes flashed and an aura surrounded their hands before sending them smashing into the seafloor and digging in unison scoop by scoop, a cloud of dirt gradually building all around the ship as Chris watched over one side and Smith the other. "And dig!! And dig!! And dig!!" Chris and Smith both began chanting, keeping everyone moving in rhythm together. Due to their numbers, the sound of the Yamask shoveling away could be heard on the Guardian. "Come on everyone!! Lets give them some support!!" Sally suddenly shout before quickly wheeling back to the mic, everyone looking at her confused as she wheeled back to the railing and turned it on. "Let them hear your voices!!" she coaxed before she began to sing, everyone looking at one another before gathering around and singing one by one. Hearing this, the Yamask shoveling away jolt and paused for a moment, Chris and Smith facing the Guardian and smirking. "And dig!! And dig!! And dig!!" they coaxed once more, the Yamask quickly getting back to work exposing the buried hull. More and more the cloud of dirt grew as they toiled away, eventually causing the ship to groan and creak as its surrounding foundation loosened bit by bit. "Oy lad! Hear that?!" Smith shout over the ship. "Yeah!!' Chris shout back before soaring back over the deck. "Attack team and barrier teams!! Positions!!" he ordered, getting a nod from both groups. Soaring high over the ship together, both Chris and Smith watched as the barrier team prepped the hull, those set to attack forming their Shadow Balls simultaneously.

"Ready on our command!!" he signaled, raising his staff up. "Get ready to back off digging team!!!" he warned before nodding at Smith. "Three... Two... One... FIRE!!!" they shout together as Chris shot his staff down and Smith shot his hand out, causing the Yamask wielding their Shadow Balls to let out a simultaneous shout as they launched their attacks in unison, the Yamask digging away quickly flying back as the Shadow Ball's made impact around the hull causing the ground and ship to rumble. Ordering the digging team to return, Chris and Smith repeat the process of having the teams dig and blast away at the hulls base, exposing and loosening it bit by bit causing the ship to creak and groan more and more. Eventually, Chris and Smith nodded at one another once they felt the ship was ready, facing the Yamask once more as they worked tirelessly to free the Arceanic. "Alright digging teams!! That's enough!!" Chris shout, causing them to jolt and nod before backing away. "Barrier teams, time to give it all you got!! Everyone else, get ready to lift the ship!!" he added, all the other Yamasks gathering together nearby both sides of the ship as he faced Smith. "You ready to do this Captain?" he asked, offering his hand. "Lets make the old girl soar." Smith smirked, taking his hand before they both let off a blast of power around them, Chris's golden aura mixing with the Captains eerie dark power akin to the sides of yin and yang. "Lets go!!" they shout together before suddenly rocketing towards the bow of the ship. "Barrier team!! Full power!!" Chris shout, the Yamask nodding before causing the ship to flash and brightly. With a simultaneous shout, Chris and Smith slammed full force into the bows hull, causing it to tremble along its entire length before slowly lifting from the bow, all of the Yamsk watching awe struck as the R.M.S. Arceanic rose from her resting place. "HELP US!!!" Chris and Smith shout, the Yamask jolting with a collective nod before rushing along the hull, each unleashing all of the energy they'd stored to aid in lifting the ship from the seafloor.

Bit by bit, the rest of the Arceanic began lifting as well, Chris and Smith along with the Yamask giving their all to raise the remains of the once majestic liner. As everyone on the Guardian sang and watched awe struck themselves, the Arceanic continued rising, sending what looked like a colossal waterfall of dirt and debris sinking to the floor beneath it. "That's it!! She's rising!! She's really rising!!" Smith shout excitedly, everyone hearing the ship groan from the strain. "Yeah, but not for long!! Come on!!" Chris shout. Next thing everyone knew, those on the Guardian watched as the Arceanic turned hard to port and began sailing away atop the shoulders of the Yamask, with Smith and Chris joining them under the hull at the tip of the bow and taking it atop their shoulders as well. "Way to go everyone!!" Chris congratulated, the Yamask shouting excitedly as they continued guiding the ship away from the Guardian. "How far out should we go?!" Smith shout. "We need a lot of speed to make the impact strong enough to break away all that ice!! Just a little further!!" Chris replied. Hearing the ship groan more and more, along with the sounds of various things buckling within the structure, he finally had everyone turn the ship hard to port once again until the tip of the Arceanic was facing the dimly glowing Guardian far in the distance. "Alright everyone!!" he shout before facing Smith. "Time for her final mission..." he added, Smith smirking with a grunt before facing the Guardian, the two letting out a shout together and unleashing another colossal burst of their energies that suddenly shot throughout the Yamask behind them, causing the Pokemon to jolt in surprise from the sudden shot of power. Pulling the ship along with all their might, the Arceanic gradually picked up speed, looking as if sailing along a golden path due to Chris glow trailing behind them.

With Rostron ordering the searchlights on the Arceanic, everyone on the Guardian watched the ship grow closer and closer with an eerie, yet somehow oddly majestic look to it as its remains rushed along the shimmering trail of gold along the base of the hull. "Come on lads... You can do it..." Rostron muttered in the bridge, his officers at his sides watching with Chief Smith laying by his side. "Almost there everyone!! Give it all ya got!!" Chris shout, all of the Yamask shouting in response as they pushed themselves all the harder to pick up speed. Suddenly, the Yamask maintaining the barrier suddenly began panicking, shouting out causing Smith to jolt and glance back. "What's going on back there?!" he shout, only for the ship to answer for him as everyone heard a metallic splitting sound coming from the stern of the ship. Feeling the structure trembling and bending awkwardly above them, the Yamask looked up in terror as the noise grew louder and the trembling grew more violent, the ship becoming nearly impossible to hold right as the bow and stern started pointing and bending in two different directions. "She's splitting apart lad!!" Smith warned. "WHERE?!!" Chris shout, glancing back as the Yamask swayed to and fro, trying to maintain a steady course as best they could. Suddenly, several Yamask rushed up to Smith's side to offer a quick report. "We're losing the stern lad!! She's splitting in two between the third and fourth funnels!!" Smith revealed, the Arceanic nearly trembling out of their grasp as if an earthquake was running through her structure, making a firm grasp nearly impossible. "If this keeps up we'll drop it!!" Chris shout, looking back and seeing the Yamask near the stern section swaying to and fro causing the bow to sway as well.

"Hurry everyone!!" Chris shout as the ship continued rapidly splitting in two. Eventually, the only thing holding the two sections together was the keel, the metal twisting and bending causing their course to sway way off in one direction, then the other. "D-Damn..." Chris groaned. Seeing the ship rapidly progressing towards them, everyone on the Guardian began showing wary expressions while watching the Arceanic move about strangely along its course, its swaying causing them to glance at one another yet continuing to perform with Sally despite their concerns. "W-We've gotta do something!! We won't make it like this!!" Chris shout. Trying to think of something, he suddenly jolt when he saw the Dusknoir group rocket past him and Smith, soaring high above the Arceanic. "Wh-What are they up to?!" he shout. "Don't ask me lad!! Just focus!!" the Captain replied, the Yamask wide eyed in surprise as well. "Alright boys!! Together now!!" the Dusknoir leader shout, the others nodding before they suddenly rocket together towards the split section of the ship. "WHAT ARE THEY DOING?!!" Chris panicked, everyone watching wide eyed as the Dusknoir released their energy with their fists out, taking on the appearance of a comet plummeting towards the Arceanic. Suddenly, the group ripped right through the split section of the ship, taking out whatever portions were still held together along the way down before smashing the keel to smithereens, completely splitting the Arceanic in two. "Forget that part!! Get to the other section!!" the Dusknoir leader ordered, the Yamask holding the stern up nodding before quickly releasing it and catching up to the bow, leaving the stern to sink back to the sea floor behind them. "We've only got half the ship now!!" Chris panicked. "That just means you need twice the speed!!" the Dusknoir leader replied, suddenly popping up next to Chris causing him to shout in surprise.

As all of the Yamask from the stern section grabbed hold of the bow, the Dusknoir gathered and grabbed hold of the hull as well, offering up their own strength to send the Arceanic careening towards the Guardian faster and faster. "A-Alrght everyone!! When I say now, I want all of you to throw the ship as hard as you can at the ice!! You ready?!!" Chris shout, everyone giving a collective shout in response. "Steady... Steadyyy... Steeaaadyyyyy!!!" he coaxed as they angled the bow at the ice. While everyone on the Guardian watched, they held each others hands and took a deep breath, Alicia coiling her tail around Serenity tighter while Rose wrapped her arms around Serenity's hips. "NOW EVERYONE!!! BRACE YOURSELVES!!!" Chris shout, and together everyone holding the bow of the Arceanic let out a mighty roar as they halt in their tracks and hurled the bow towards the Guardian, sending it rocketing forward with a blast that caused a powerful current to send the Yamask flying back. "GO GET EM' GIRL!!!" Smith shout, everyone watching in anticipation as the bow flew down towards the ice corking the Guardian. Clenching their fists and biting their lips, everyone watched as the ship finally slammed down, causing everything around them to thrash and quake violently as a colossal cloud of dirt and debris to explode up next to the barrier, the sound of the bow slamming down causing everyone to cover their ears. "That's it... Did it...?" Chris muttered, squinting his eyes at the cloud below. "Can't say. Perhaps...?" Smith replied, all of the Yamask hovering up as well, everyone waiting in anticipation as the smoke rose higher and higher. Eventually, it finally began to clear, gradually exposing the battered remains of the bow where it lay on its side. "N-No... NO!!!" Chris shout, more of the smoke clearing exposing the ice still in tact and the Guardian still corked in place.

"NO!!! NO NO NO!!!" he screamed, suddenly blasting down towards the ice screaming the same word again and again while those on the Guardian began weeping and panicking, Smith and the Yamask showing somber looks and facing down, as if the life they'd regained had suddenly drained from them all over again, the Dusknoir showing their own looks of disappointment while facing one another. As Chris rocket his way down and reared his staff back, ready to slam into it himself, he suddenly heard something crackling causing his eyes to shoot open, quickly halting himself while hovering his gaze along the chasm. With the noise from those on the Guardian drowning out the sound, Chris faced the ship before screaming "QUIET!!!" through his mind, causing everyone to jolt and face him in surprise. Focusing his gaze back down along the chasm, he held a hand to his ear and listened, suddenly hearing another crackling noise coming from below nearby the Arceanic. "I-I hear something..." he said, everyone looking at one another before heading to the railing and looking over towards the Arceanic's bow, having a listen for themselves while Smith and the Yamask gathered by Chris's side. "Well lad...?" Smith asked. Suddenly, they heard the sound of some kind of implosion come from within the ice portion of the chasm, jolting back when an intense pressure below suddenly caused the ice to split at random points sending bursts of shrapnel shooting up through the water before them like a colossal geyser. "D-DID IT?!" Smith said excitedly, clenching his fists with a wide eyed grin. "I-I think it..." Chris replied, excitement on his own face as they heard the ice implode several more times causing external explosions of ice and steam to shoot in every direction. Suddenly, they saw the bow of the Arceanic begin to move, sinking downwards gradually and sliding at an angle causing it to roll back onto its keel and stand upright once more, and next thing they knew, the ice portion of the chasm that had its grasp on the Guardian collapsed altogether, sending the ice and bow of the Arceanic slowly plummeting into the darkness below...

With a collective roar of excitement from everyone around Chris and Smith and on the Guardian combined, Chris immediately ordered everyone beneath the barrier to grab hold before the Guardian sank into the chasm as well. With the R.M.S. Arceanic having completed her final task, Smith, the Yamask, Chris and the Dusknoir watched while holding up the Guardian as the bow slowly disappeared into the darkness, everyone showing a somber yet proud smile. "There she goes... Thanks old girl..." Smith said lovingly. "Alright everyone... Lets get the Guardian back to the surface. We still have a time limit here." Chris reminded, getting a nod from everyone in response before looking down one final time as everyone above on the Guardian continued to cheer...

Pokemon - Tale Of The Guardian Master - CH 91
Pokemon - Tale Of The Guardian Master - CH 94
Some time ago, a young man named Chris, now 23, discovered he was chosen to carry a curse passed onto him through his bloodline by a Ninetails his grandfather saved long ago, having grabbed its sacred tails to save it from falling to its demise. Burdened with this fate, which the young man now calls a blessing, Chris accepts the life chosen for him and allows the curse to guide him freely in life, destined to forever put others before himself, to forever follow the path the curse guides him along towards those in need most...

Along his journey thus far, Chris has come across a Ralts who was abandoned by her former trainer for being blind, hurled off the edge of a cliff and left to die that has since evolved into a full fledged Gardevoir by his side, swearing her life to the young man with the mysterious and terrifying ability to use the power of a Shadow Pokemon, granting her the title of a mysterious new Shadow Hybrid... Also traveling by his side is a Snivy who has since become a Servine, abandoned by her former trainer for refusing to evolve after a terrifying battle she had with a Serperior that left her mentally scarred, resulting in her former trainer neglecting and starving her in an attempt to persuade her to evolve, until he finally left her to die as well followed by a Buneary who has since evolved into Lopunny, who's former trainer became enraged due to her refusal to battle and tried to kill her off when he discovered she could only evolve via friendship...

Chris has met many people and Pokemon alike along his journey, each left as inspired by his presence as the last... He's nearly sacrificed himself to save Gardevoir and Servine from a deadly attack by a pack of Houndoom, lead by a Mega formed leader by hurling himself off a cliff to catch the two and nearly dying... Resulting in his lengthy stay in a location called Millennium City where he provided a hospital full of children an awe inspiring play room full of wonders any child would adore... Saved thousands of Pokemon eggs from dying out when their colossal incubation system malfunctioned in one of the cities many centers, and it's the location he saved Lopunny when she was a Buneary from being struck by a massive truck after being hurled into the highway by her former trainer... He's met and inspired a kindhearted old butler named Gerald who served the group during their stay in the city, and even came across the mysterious N from the Pokemon series, inspiring even this strange person during his stay in the city resulting in Chris being deemed a man worthy of keeping an eye on...

Most recently, Chris had become a criminal during his efforts to free Lopunny from her former trainer altogether, having forced his way into the city's top prison the man was held within and taking not only the Pokeball belonging to Lopunny, but taking all of his other Pokeballs to free the Pokemon within them as well only to discover the mans father was the Warden of that very prison in the process. Finding himself intrigued by Chris, the Warden gave him a chance to avoid prison time by revealing he was also the city's Gym Leader, striking a deal that if he won he would be pardoned of all crimes and allowed to leave the city.

Before the day of the match arrived, Chris found himself becoming close friends with the city's top scientist, Professor Rose, and together along with her staff they managed to complete Project Celebi, a device that could transplant sight between two people without surgery! The project turned out to be a success after Chris offered the sight in his left eye to give Gardevoir the ability to see the world for the first time via her right!

After this, the time for his showdown with the Warden arrived, and after a lengthy two part battle, Chris turned out the victor with the support of all those attending the event and beyond... To thank them for fighting for his sake, Chris gave Gardevoir, Servine, and Lopunny their own unique names, gaining the titles Serenity, Alicia, and Rose respectively, with Lopunny being named after the professor who had done so much for the group during their stay in the city...

Now, after regaining his freedom and spending a week at Arthur and Angela's massive manor on the outskirts of the city, Chris has finally bid everyone a fond and tearful farewell, having set sail across the sea as a first class passenger aboard the brand new S.S. Guardian, the first pollutant free ship in the world relying solely on solar power reservoirs currently making its way along its maiden voyage on a seven day trip to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the loss of the legendary R.M.S. Arceanic, the unsinkable ship that mysteriously vanished without a trace after messages calling for help were sent one fateful night long, long ago...

Suh-weet!

...Geez, I thought my heart was going to stop through that last part when the Arceanic started splitting haha, thank Arceus that the Dusknoir lent their power when they did...and the immediate aftermath of the Arceanic crashing into the ice...I was biting my lip and clenching my fists in hope it was going to crack...wow, phew...now all that's left is getting the Guardian back on the surface before the girls collapse...damn, the tension is real...I tell you. It. Is. Real... >_<

On another note, throughout this whole saga I've really been able to visualise how everything has been going down, almost as if I'm watching an actual series/film of it, the detail you've been putting in to the Guardians journey...it's brilliant...fantastic.

My only regret is that I can't give this whole saga (so far) more than 3 stars hehe

Alex stood on what seemed to be a pier the red furred white cloaked fox standing out badly among the humans that didn't notice his presence, watching a ship readying to make way, he wasn’t sure what to make of the situation, why he felt the need to be here, but he was none the less. He got a sudden feeling as he watched the situation unfolding his attention suddenly drawn to a young man accompanied by several Pokemon and several others who seemed to be friends. Alex nodded watching as the young man who was wearing a white lab coat said his goodbyes to his friends then boarded the ship with his Pokemon in tow Alex smirking as he mumbled to himself,

“So you’re the one I’m watching, well lets see what fate has in store for you then.”

Alex was about to follow him onto the ship when he double took for a moment, something was off, he looked again at the ship till he realized what it was, pulling an aura over the ship he suddenly said,

“Wait where is the Lucario, my visions told me there is suppose to be a Lucario on this ship.”

After checking again and not finding what he was looking for the fox bit his lip watching as the ship started to leave the port he said shaking his head,

“No choice it seems.”

He pulled his hood down then vanished in a flash of white light, when he reappeared on the ship he didn’t look like himself but the Pokemon he had been looking for in question, Alex then saying under his breath,

“Never thought I’d actually have to use this ability, I’ll have to remember to act the same way the Pokemon acted as I saw it or this whole thing will end badly.”

Nodding he hid his cloak with some magic now looking like a regular Lucario then began walking around the ship trying to act normal.

The whole of the trip the fox spent watching, observing until he had to act, having to play the part of the Pokemon he was replacing, he spent the rest of one day with a bad headache after one of the female Pokemon following the man in the white lab coat had kicked him away, he wasn’t to happy about that but he let it slide, not that he had any other choice.

He continued to watch the man and his Pokemon till finally what had called him here came to a head, the fox having to watch as the near defenseless cruse ship had to fend off a swarm of angry Gyarados, he wanted to act to aid them but had to restrain himself, he wasn’t allowed to interfere with the events of the mortals. The ship had quickly gotten itself out of the frying pan only to land in the fire, the fox himself clueless as to how the ship ended up on the sea floor, he watched as the young human tried to solve the situation Alex watching from afar till he felt something pulling on the back of his mind, the fox then turning to meet this presence his astral presence finding its way into a pleasant meadow and laying down before him was a nine tails the large fox Pokemon then saying as it lifted its head,

“So you’re the abnormal presence I’ve felt since the moment my human stepped foot on this ship.”

Alex nodded then responded pulling his hood away to show his face,

“I am Alex, the god of hope, something called my attention to the goings on with this ship.”

The nine tails nodded saying,

“You too huh?”

Alex nodded watching as the majestic Pokemon sized him up a little bit then asked,

“You’re not here to help are you?”

Alex shook his head then saying,

“Only to observe, unless your human gets lucky enough to earn a divine intervention.”

The fox nodded then asked as she moved to lay down,

“Then can I ask a favor, one fox to another?”

Alex nodded then listened to the Pokemon’s request,

“The fool here has wasted a great deal of my power, I’m afraid I might not have enough for what needs to be done, would you be willing to lend me some?”

Alex nodded then said approaching her,

“That much I can do, but not to much.”

He reached out his hand and pressed it to her head the fox sighing as more of her golden aura returned to her, Alex then turning to leave till the fox stopped him asking with what would pass for a cocked eyebrow,
“Now with that out of the way, mind me asking why on earth are you hiding as a Lucario?”

Alex laughed a little then said looking over his shoulder,

“You’ll see.”

With that Alex found himself back on the ship, the mortals around him still worrying and fearing for their lives, and rightly so, there where on the bottom of the ocean after all. The fox went back to watching waiting till he had to act once more. Finally the moment arrived, all on the bow watching in horror as the psychic Pokemon Gardevoir started to lose what strength she had left Alex putting two and two together looking down at his false Lucario hands then saying to himself,

“So this is why they needed a Lucario here, time to make my move.”

He rushed to the spent Pokemon having only to deal with her other companions for a moment till he was able to act allowing the other Pokemon on the ship to give her their energy to help keep the barrier intact. More time passed as the last ditch hope was slowly burnt away more and more of the Pokemon that had come to help had nothing left to give and started to collapse, the fox then looked over to the other ship the young human had gone over to some time ago to, he wasn’t going fast enough, Alex then saying in the back of his mind,

“They need more time, most of these Pokemon are already spent.”

Turning to his own unnatural reservoirs of power he said once more to himself,

“I’ll give her some of mine, can’t give her to much but I can give them a little more time.”

He nodded holding tightly to the mega evolved Pokemon he had been feeding to as he started to feed her bits of his own energy subtly aiding in holding her mind and focus together in supporting the barrier, knowing the strain it put on ones mind first hand. Alex looked back as more time past, more and more of the Pokemon where giving out and for the Pokemon he was holding sake he couldn’t risk giving her more of his, she was already to weak if he fed her more of his own power it could kill her, He looked over as action began to happen on the over ship not sure what was going to happen after that battle that forced him to act in the first place, the young human seemingly managed to get the help he had gone looking for Alex feeling the presence of the nine tails he met before as the human began planning how to free the ship and training those over there to help. It however came to a head sooner then he thought, faking his own weakness as to not seem abnormal, till he had no choice but to stop, his energies though having bought the Pokemon time was taking its toll on her mind and body, she could handle no more of it, he decided now was the time to act like he had run out of power to give to, making sure to heal the Pokemon’s mental wounds he had left before letting her go, falling to one knee and pulling his own power away, feigning strain of his own to make it seem normal to the humans and Pokemon watching.

He then looked over as the human then put his plan into action, Alex seeing dozens of Pokemon swarm off the other ship, as they then began digging it out and trying to blast it free. He looked up to the quickly weakening Pokemon before him, she was about to give out, then watched as her friends approached the large snake wrapping her tail around her chest and the rabbit holding onto her waist, He got up a little bit to act out the transfer as the plan quickly went into action they took the dilapidated ship once it was free and went about using it to free the ship from the ice holding it down, Alex looked up watching it unfold till he saw something go wrong the ship begun ripping apart, they quickly lost a large section of the ship Alex letting out a grimace as he watched then try to get what they had left up to speed enough to free them. Alex watched as they then threw the remaining piece of the ship hoping against hope it would work. When it finally hit the ice Alex pulled himself away leaving a doppelganger in his place and rushed to the ice and what he saw made his heart sink the ice was not only intact but it was hardly scratched. He closed his eyes and looked away hearing the human shouting no at the top of his lungs. Suddenly Alex looked up as from the cloud of dust came flittering a card lined in gold, Alex took hold of it then smiled looking up to the despairing human then said as the card turned into something of a star in his hands,

“Don’t give up hope human, hope has smiled on you this day.”

Undoing the first of his buttons as let more of his power flow floating up to the ice then grabbing hold of it from below as to remain hidden then took in a breath, pulling himself and the ice down to the surface of the seafloor the impact making the shaking that was already going on worse then once planted looked up as began spewing fire into the ice, said attack quickly melting a hole up in the ice till it reached the core and started melting it from within. It took only moments for the ice to start to implode on itself, the human above shouting

“Quiet!!”

Alex grinned as more and more the ice within started to melt and imploded in on itself till finally it started to crumble and start to shatter, steam from his flames starting to escape the imploding ice, Alex then stopping his flames and pulling on the ice making the entirety of the ship lurch forward as he pulled harder and harder till finally but the ice and the seafloor under him gave out the ship suddenly snapping free and both the ice and the wreckage of the second ship starting to fall into the abyss that had opened up below. Alex quickly made himself scarce not wanting to lessen their joy in their victory, watching as the small Pokemon and the human rushed under the guardian to prevent it in joining the other ship on its trip below, Alex thinking to himself as he once more took the place of his doppelganger on the bow of the ship thinking to himself as he wiped his brow plopping himself on the ground  on his false bottom,

‘I think I’m going to try and enjoy what’s left of this cruse, I need a break.’

He however felt himself once more beckoned into the pleasant meadow, looking back as he saw the now exhausted nine tails laying down, the female Pokemon then saying,

“Someone got more involved then he said he would.”

Alex laughed a little then said as he held out the young humans shining star,

“What can I say, he never gave up hope, and it in return smiled on him.”

The fox nodded then asked as she laid her head down, more tired then she was willing to admit,

“So what are you going to do now god of hope?”

Alex smiled a bit then said,

“Most likely the same thing your about to do, take a nap. You might not realize it, but holding back as much power as I have is tiring.”

The nine tails nodded Alex then saying as he once more returned to the moral plane,

“Take good care of that human, I like him, think I’ll keep my eyes on him.”

She nodded Alex returning to the ship to rest and watch whatever was going to happen next.

(clearly I've not only enjoyed this chapter but this entire story, i can't wait to see what you come up with after this arc of the story good work =3)

She's definitely got both a sadistic and masochistic side.

As seen when she goes Shadow State and when she reversed the situation when Chris took advantage of her in bed while she slept only to take advantage of him the rest of that night.

Don't mess with the possessive cray cray girl. lol

Great Chapter, especially the thrilling last part! At some point I prepared myself for a cliffhanger (Chris why has your small speech to the girls had to sound like a farewell…), but fortunately (or mercifully?) it was not the expected cliffhanger.
Alicia is teasing Serenity in a moment, where her live depends on Serenity’s barrier is probably not the best idea… but that is what best friends are for. XD
And I’m glad to see that the Dusknoir turned out to be not so bad after all.

LoneWolf278 short fan fic made me interested in Lucario again, especially now I hope we will meet his trainer, or learn a bit more about whatever circumstances he has.

The way how Chris and Smith taught the Yamask some moves, is it similar to the way how you imagine a TM/HM would work? Relevant

Now something that bugs me a bit, something scientific and I wouldn’t dare call me an expert in this, but the following should be common knowledge. (Even in the Pokemon universe):
Ice floats on water. (Water expands if it turns from a liquid into a solid state. Because of the bigger volume with the same mass ice has a lower density than liquid water, therefore it floats on water.)
But here ”the ice […] slowly plummeting into the darkness below...”, even if the half of the Arceanic lies on top of the ice, it should have slipped aside and float to the surface…
However, the ice could sink in the salty seawater if it had at least 10% impurities (rocks, soil, whatever material that has a higher density than water). If it is that way it would be better to clarify the ice condition in a small sentence somewhere. Otherwise it might be assumed that the ice is as pure as ice cubes in a drink. At least I assumed it…
How ice could form deep under water in the first place, is probably because these are the remains of the iceberg, which the Mega Gyarados created. Here it is easier for me to understand why the ice could last for a hundred years. Mega Gyarados could have made it extra strong in some way. It’s not the first time eternal ice has been used in tales.
Anyway, it’s only the part where the ice sinks that bugs me…

The icy part of the chasm was a combination of that, and rock. It was just the weakest point in the chasm that was formed with the most ice. Thus it sank when the portions split away.

That's not to say ALL of it went down, naturally.

Far as the TM question... I dunno. I don't really pay attention to the whole TM thing, rather Pokemon learn the moves more naturally in this series, or rather, already have them by birth so to say.

Kind of like what the anime does for the most part. I don't recall them being a big thing in the anime either.

Thanks for the clarification.

Hmm… yeah, looks like the TM/HM stuff is primarily a game mechanic. In combination with the limited amount of moves a Pokemon can use, it forces the player to make strategical decisions.
