------------------- As many of you know, G1's Baby Rainfeather has become the Pony in which I have most aligned myself with. There are a number of reasons why.
1: CUTIE MARK Rainfeather's "Cutie Mark" has come to aid me in coping with various situations in my life while realizing how I can turn almost any negative circumstance into a positive experience.
We all know the phrase, "Like water off a duck's back". This saying has become very true towards how I've learned to process hurtful statements in which have been directed to me by those who judge me by my limitations. I can't control what they say. However, like the proverbial saying of the duck, I can control if I let it get under my feathers. So I'm a lot stronger now that I know nobody can take away from who I am except for me.
So why the umbrella? The umbrella represents the "Support System" / "Natural Supports" I have in my life to ensure I am always able to keep negativity from overcoming my spirit of determination. It is also to illustrate how I do my best to make myself available to help others who may need someone to help them through the "Rainy Days" in their lives.
2: YOUTHFUL INNOCENCE: It's amazing how growing up often comes with the price tag of realizing how hurtful our fellow man can be. It's very easy to feel as if what you do doesn't matter, nobody wants to be your friend, and that nobody cares about you.
However, when we were little, we were naive to these unfortunate aspects of our world. We were much more open-minded, encouraged, and our imaginations allowed to run as wild as we could let them. So the fact Rainfeather is a "Foal" represents how I try to hold onto that innocence so that I can put aside all in which has jaded me in order to improve my optimism towards life.
THE STORY OF RAINFEATHER: The UK version of Rainfeather had a great story in which explains why Rainfeather is who she is. It goes as follows.
""Baby Pony, do you believe in magic?" asked a sad little duckling. "Of course I do," she replied. "Quack! Will you magic some rain to make me feel happy?" The baby pony asked the duckling to give her a blue feather, "When I hold the feather and whisper a magic word, it will rain!" she laughed. And it did! "I'll call you Baby Rainfeather!" chuckled the duckling. Now, Baby Rainfeather can make it rain whenever she likes... as long as she's holding her blue feather!
---------------- So that is why I am so glad to have sold off what I could to afford this commission back in October. Lil Moon takes time, but she's fantastic and worth the wait. She puts a lot of love into her craft. Her work is also very "Tactile", which means each part of her plush has a unique texture to feel with your sense of touch. This means she can be enjoyed as a collectible memory whether I have vision, or not.
I should get her before I go to surgery. If I do, I have a DUCKLETT that a friend gave me that I can't wait to try and pose her with to show a live example of her story. :)
