In my second year attempting the challenge, I have succeeded the 50,000 word challenge posed by NaNoWriMo.
Did I write a novel? Well, no, not exactly.
But I did write
and one and a half yet-unpublished stories as part of the Nikki/Sammy story. 50,111 words (so far) set in the same world. You may call me a NaNo Rebel, but I'm going to go ahead and call myself a winner.
SO IT'S TIME TO CELEBRATE!
To thank the wonderful folks who read my stuff (that's you) and give me inspiration and motivation to write, I'm giving away a free story!

Character: Name: Alice Species: Spotted Hyena Age: Preteen to early teen (11-14)
Alice has very recently moved into the area and is quite shy (due to her and her parents/any siblings being the only hyenas they know of in the area), yet she has a crush on a boy wolf that's in one of her classes. He's got a crush on her too and is equally shy.

Elise Age 13 White Mosaic Chinchilla (so cute! google image search them!). Wears glasses, loves science/language classes and reading sci-fi/fantasy books. Somewhat, but not overly, pudgy, and a little more top-heavy than her classmates. Sort of a condescending know it all, but clueless about her developing body and the sudden interest boys are taking in a bookish nerd like her. Lives with her father, a mid-30s white chinchilla, and her stepmother, an early 20s squirrel; both are botanists. Her mother was a black velvet chinchilla that passed away 7 years ago in an auto accident. Vegetarian, but has a sugar addiction. LOVES long sand baths. Favorite colors are sky blue and canary yellow. Mainly wears clothing to hide her body, since she has self-image problems. Chinchillas love the cold, dislike the heat, so she likes winter outdoor activities, and swimming in the summer (one piece suit).

Doable, but definitely not easy. She's gone up by 11 watchers since the time I pimped this journal (I stated she was at 374, now at 385). So 11 in under 12 hours. But I think you read the end date wrong. It closes at 11:59 PM Central time on December 1, 2012. So from now, that's about 3 days and 16.5 hours. So she needs about another 1.3 Watchers per hour for the remainder. Again, doable, but definitely not easy.
BUT! If everyone that pimps this journal also remind people to Watch Jacinth, that should help, no?

She's very asocial and prefers computers, her iPhone and chocolate over the little quantity of friends she has. she doesn't like sports and is quite clumsy with everything that doesn't have to do with computes. she has a little crus on a boy from her classroom, but is to shy to go and talk to him, so she just stalks him whenever her laptop runs out of battery and she didn't bring the charger. as for her body features, she is around two meters and twenty two centimeters tall and very slender, her breasts are just a little big bigger than A cup. she always wears a red t-shirt and a shirt that is long enough to cover her knees, she doesn't wear a bra under her t-shirt and she wears boxers under her skirt becuase she finds panties extremely uncomfortable. as one extra fact, her tongue is purple.

Lol. I know, and totally kidding. I don't know your princess character, but if you created one that you like as much as her, then you can create another one, no? I have dozens of characters (non-furry adult, male and female, so they don't really fit in here) that I have created for an ongoing project. Which one I like the most changes pretty frequently, based on where the story is heading. My Elise suggestion a little further up was created in about 20 minutes just from influences in my life.

Background: She's the middle child of three with an older and a younger brother. While she was born locally, her parents are both immigrants from a less developed country that has not yet had its sexual revolution. They've tried to be good parents, going as far as sending her to a private school that will "hopefully make something useful out of her". That phrasing ought to be a clue as to how successful they've been. In their own eyes they've been good to her, berating her for things that would've earned them a spanking or a few licks of a switch when they were her age, and they've only used a switch on her for disobedience that would've earned them their dad's belt. They do love her, and she loves them, but there's no hiding the fact that they love her brothers more, and they're disappointed that she wasn't born a boy. This has understandably given her a drive to achieve coupled with a crushing inferiority complex that prevents her from truly excelling.
Description: Pretty but not the prettiest, smart but not the smartest, athletic but not the best or worst in anything. She's not dead average; there are things she doesn't do very well at such as any sport favoring strength or endurance over grace and agility, she's barely managing a D+ in chemistry, and her singing voice is best left in the shower. Still, there's nothing she excels at and not enough of a pattern in what she isn't very good at to give her a sense of who she is. While all of this sounds bad, she is not normally a moody or depressed girl. She has friends, she mostly likes her school, and she's on the school newspaper. She has a good sense of humor, she still watches cartoons even if she's "too old for that", and she enjoys hiking in the woods. It's just that she's at an age where emotions can surge abruptly for no apparent reason, and sometimes it does get to her. Coupled with a bit more curiosity than most girls her age, and it's lead her to some...interesting reading material. She's starting to get notions about experimenting...but bondage can be a risky thing to experiment with!
Sexuality: She's predominately lesbian though as young as she is, she has yet to quite work out her feelings. She still harbors the notion that boys and girls are supposed to end up liking each other enough to live together, but she remains enough of a child to not quite see the appeal. Still, she wouldn't be entirely immune to the right kind of flattery from a handsome young boy, and she wouldn't know how to handle advances from a girl. Ironically, the fact that she is impressively above average in so many ways has kept most students thinking they aren't good enough to approach her, and the few that have failed to strike the right chord to gain her interest.
((Whew! That took longer than it should have. I blame my recent lack of sleep. Anyway, if she doesn't win but you find her interesting and still want to use her at some later date, you have my permission!))
