I'm sure everyone knows that feeling of helplessness when someone you love is in trouble, and there's nothing you can do about it. I've never reached out to the furry fandom like this before, but I thought this might be the best thing I could do in this situation. My stepfather's parents, two of the sweetest people on the planet, have lost their home in a fire, and all of their possessions, and as they were unable to purchase any form of insurance, they must rely on the generosity of the local community. That alone may be enough to get them through this crisis, but any extra generosity within the fandom will make it that much more likely.
If you live in the Southeast Texas area, there will be a benefit in Silsbee, Texas on August 11th to help rebuild their home. If you can make it, and maybe bring some extra furniture or appliances along, that would be a great help. There will be barbecue, an auction, and a live band. You have my sincere and humble thanks if you decide to just show up and get a bite to eat on their behalf. Every bit helps.
