Hello Americans.

There are two important issues and each of them sounds like America's preparation for World War III - by brainwashing it's own citizens, you.
And no, I am not exaggerating. Pray that I am just paranoid. But the combination of both looks just too convenient.

Currently the Senate considers legalizing the use of propaganda, explicitly including misinfromation, against the American populace.

Catholics used it against Protestants, Protestants against Catholics. "In Rwanda in 1994, Hutu preachers invoked King Saul's memory to justify the total slaughter of their Tutsi neighbors," writes Jenkins in his 2011 book, Laying Down the Sword: Why We Can't Ignore the Bible's Violent Verses (HarperCollins).

This fall, more than 100,000 American public school children, ranging in age from four to 12, are scheduled to receive instruction in the lessons of Saul and the Amalekites in the comfort of their own public school classrooms. The instruction, which features in the second week of a weekly "Bible study" course, will come from the Good News Club, an after-school program sponsored by a group called the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). The aim of the CEF is to convert young children to a fundamentalist form of the Christian faith and recruit their peers to the club.

There are now over 3,200 clubs in public elementary schools, up more than sevenfold since the 2001 supreme court decision, Good News Club v Milford Central School, effectively required schools to include such clubs in their after-school programing.

The CEF has been teaching the story of the Amalekites at least since 1973. In its earlier curriculum materials, CEF was euphemistic about the bloodshed, saying simply that "the Amalekites were completely defeated." In the most recent version of the curriculum, however, the group is quite eager to drive the message home to its elementary school students. The first thing the curriculum makes clear is that if God gives instructions to kill a group of people, you must kill every last one:

    "You are to go and completely destroy the Amalekites (AM-uh-leck-ites) – people, animals, every living thing. Nothing shall be left."

"That was pretty clear, wasn't it?" the manual tells the teachers to say to the kids.

Even more important, the Good News Club wants the children to know, the Amalakites were targeted for destruction on account of their religion, or lack of it. The instruction manual reads:

    "The Amalekites had heard about Israel's true and living God many years before, but they refused to believe in him. The Amalekites refused to believe in God and God had promised punishment."

The CEF and the legal advocacy groups that have been responsible for its tremendous success over the past ten years are determined to "Knock down all doors, all the barriers, to all 65,000 public elementary schools in America and take the Gospel to this open mission field now! Not later, now!" in the words of a keynote speaker at the CEF's national convention in 2010. The CEF wants to operate in the public schools, rather than in churches, because they know that young children associate the public schools with authority and are unable to distinguish between activities that take place in a school and those that are sponsored by the school.

In the majority opinion that opened the door to Good News Clubs, supreme court Justice Clarence Thomas reasoned that the activities of the CEF were not really religious, after all. He said that they could be characterized, for legal purposes, "as the teaching of morals and character development from a particular viewpoint".

As Justices Souter and Stevens pointed out in their dissents, however, the claim is preposterous: the CEF plainly aims to teach religious doctrines and conduct services of worship. Thomas's claim is particularly ironic in view of the fact that the CEF makes quite clear its intent to teach that no amount of moral or ethical behavior (pdf) can spare a nonbeliever from an eternity in hell.

Good News Clubs should not be in America's public elementary schools. As I explain in my book, The Good News Club: The Christian Right's Stealth Assault on America's Children, the club exists mainly to give small children the false impression that their public school supports a particular creed. The clubs' presence has produced a paradoxical entanglement of church and state that has ripped apart communities, degraded public education, and undermined religious freedom.

The CEF's new emphasis on the genocide of nonbelievers makes a bad situation worse. Exterminist rhetoric has been on the rise among some segments of the far right, including some religious groups. At what point do we start taking talk of genocide seriously? How would we feel about a nonreligious group that instructs its students that if they should ever receive an order to commit genocide, they should fulfill it to the letter?

The legalization of propaganda is one part of the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act)
(I do not know what other points it includes, only got alerted to it via Demand Progress)

And the CEF has been doing this for years (mainly preaching unconditional obedience to God) but only recently gone into detail about the genocidal parts of the bible again, in full force.

It is just an after school club, just like the Boy Scouts, or science club. Religion is not being taught in school, just using the school facilities as any other after school club.

It is confusing as any other propaganda, leave out some facts to boost your own agenda.

.....I don't think this will get far enough to cause world war three. Maybe an American Civil war. I have a strong feeling that this is likely going to cause a lot of bigotry and maybe some hate crimes in school. The first time one of these kids attacks a jew or a the kid of a gay or non Christian family...I will REALLY not be surprised. You know its only a matter of time. They are probably going to claim that their teachings do not encourage these things. Right before/after preaching about these things. I hate that sort of "religious" people. They turn religion from a way of life, into a virus that causes pain and destruction, and whose only purpose is to spread further and further.

Thanks for bring this up, definetly brings up somethings to think about. One thought that did cross my mind as I read these is that if the religious shit took root and lead to the third world war, personally I'd see it more as a world wide civil war then anything else. With the Church dicks on one side and everybody else on the other and against them. Seriously if you think about it and take the Church's history in consideration, is there one thing one on this planet that is more hated, the cause of more strife, and also the source of more murders and killings all 'in the name of God' in the history of mankind. If 'God' really told them to do that, then he isn't how they believe him to be but a wicked uncaring hateful evil son of a bitch. Next thing we all know the Church will suddenly come forward and say that the anitChrist walks among us and will have gone through the trouble of building up some guy to be him, just so they can draw more unsuspecting followers to them.

And just so I don't get hounded from anyone that reads this. First I'M NOT TAKING ANYTHING BACK THAT WAS SAID! Second I meant ever word. I am not so much worried about a world wide civil war (most Christians are too moderate to join that, unless the Muslims start one in response to American attacks on the Middle East) but about the government using religion as an excuse for a few "crusades" to claim oil reserves and what not, and to maybe remove Saudi Arabia and others to weaken the middle east as a whole so they can claim the oil reserves there like they did in Africa after having the local people hunted away by mercendaries.
Which of course would not go unnoticed by the rest of the world and could lead to conflict over the reserves alone already.

With the American people then already radicalized and the American government at least having to claim to agree with them to prevent a civil war, this could easily escalate to at least a cold war with Pakistan, and with two atomic powers already pointed at each other, the others will take sides, too, as they both have an interest in preventing a nuclear war, and in the oil reserves or other resources that may be the true purpose of the war. The real problem starts if there are some psychopaths in strong positions in the goverment and may try to "win" this war by providing some, at this point irate and desperate, Middle East countries with nukes.

Vile and Disgusting! While I respect this..."Good News Clubs" Right to practice there faith there attempts to use children as converts to there life style and there OPEN attempts to get said children to encourage there peers to join the program is LITERALLY evil.

I understand preaching the word of god is a part of this faith but cant you preach it to the ADULTS! This isn't you learning about God, this is a bunch of nut jobs walking up to you and SMACKING you in the face with a bible, then telling you to kill all heathens! <.<

Ok.  A few points to keep in mind here.  The people who are advocating this modern nonsense are neither Christians, nor truly religious.   True religion, no matter what faith you follow, boils down to one simple core command, the 'Golden Rule' if you will.

  "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God , thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.'

  It's as simple as that.  If Everyone followed that rule, even if you don't believe in any God or gods, but simply obeyed the second part then this world would be a paradise.  No war, no hunger, no crime, no hate no suffering.

  Yet it is the twisted desires of man hiding behind religion and using it as an excuse for all manner of perverted depravity that is the real cause of many of the world's ills.

  I will reiterate here.  If someone, ANYONE advocates killing on religious grounds, or mutilating children or any one of the other thousands of things 'religion' is accused of or if they think for one second that their actions that cause harm and distress to another human life are in some way acceptable because it's their 'religion'  then I say that person or persons are not religious and have no concept or understanding of religion in any way, shape or form.

I agree. The purpose of religion ultimately is to promote ethics and building a self-sufficient value system to maintain these ethics (usually by promising a reward in the afterlife) - and of course these ethics have been twisted whenever the ones in power needed cheap soldiers or cheap workforce or income or simply wanted to feel like they were the gods.

Its the minority who rampantly abuse their power. you cant blame all of america for the actions of the rich, the politicians, and the religious psychotics. Most of us are just regular people. Sadly we have a lot of people who abuse the hell out of their power. Even against of the will of the people. I can see this turning into something grave. Not to mention this can influence hundrends like Hitler did with the Nazi movement. IF they declare that god said this or that it will be a holy crusade against "heathens" and they will follow. It will start in the country and spread eleswhere like and invasion. This may very well be the false profit.

The old testament is quite genocidal, as was the entire time period, and a good part of today's radical "christians" are rather preaching the old testament, intention wise, so yes, it is double edged, but only a religious nutjob or a troll will intentionally misunderstand it.

Not quite so, any one can be swayed and swooned by an idea. All it takes is an idea that someone will agree upon to gather followers. From there you can then feed lies and move the people to your cause. No matter how corrupt. Because at that point they will think its the right thing.

Others will knowinly oppose the movement and in turn be caught in the whole mess. In which they will either join in fear or fight in resistance.

But the whole double edge sword comes from the false profit, that any false profit shall be given capital punishment and death. It doesn't take a guiness to see that can work against the world. Where a group of radicalist deem someone to be spreading lies and then use that to deem a full genocide. That is religion for you.

But I understand your point and I've been wondering as america goes to shit due to religion being put into law is, whatever happened to separation of church and state along with freedom of religion? Religion's pretty much become an excuse for mass genocide and an example but not what everyone prob thinks is Adolf was a self claimed christian and he killed MILLIONS, along with a few other causers of genocide.
