why we enjoy Furry-Cooking

TL;DR: just read the first part before the first dashes.
press ctrl+F and search for "(123)" to get a list of aspects / roles within the fetish.

Ya know, it occurred to me that sometimes people don't get our fetish
and they feel either disgusted or offended. Usually i try to explain it to them if they're on the open-minded /intelligent side but explaining it
to everyone in person gets a little tiring. so here's my attempt of trying to explain the many facets of our fetish to anyone who's interested / willing
to learn more about his fellow furries, no matter hoe weird they might be. This way the reader might understand why it's not meant to be offensive.

-- -- -- -- --
list begins after next dashes.

please keep in mind: i'm not a psychologist. i might misinterpret some stuff, but i'm only going to write down what i'm confident about it's truthfulness.
still no 100% assurence for correctness.
also: me engrish is not goot.

if you are a furry-cooking... furry... or a furry-cooking sympathizer and you agree to this journal after reading, feel free to use the link if you
find someone you want to show this.
also, if you have anything to say for yourself about your personal experiences with that fetish, add a comment ^^
i'm happy to share my knowledge and broaden my horizon by reading your interpretations of the fetish!

-- -- -- -- -- TL;DR read everything that's marked with a #

about my art: with the stuff i do, i usually try to illustrate the natural beauty of the anthro / furry / human body accentuated with the colors of nature, like
vegetables or fruits. of course, with the roasted skin and other small details i cater to the darker fantasies out there, but you'll mostly find "smiling" food
in my gallery. i personally hate blood and gore and i think this stuff doesn't belong to what is supposed to be an erotic picture. though some people
view cuts and the forementioned roasted skin as gore already. in that case, i can't say much but to assure it's not meant to be gory. even with
roasted skin, an apple in the mouth and cherries replacing the eyes, the shape and symmetry of the body is kept intact and symmetry is beauty ;)
it all boils down to the eye of the beholder and personal experiences.

general stuff: in general, i think we can all agree that the cooking fetish is a branch of the bondage / sado-maso fetish and food play.
to some people it's simply about dominating or being dominated by someone of interest (boy/ girlfriend, good friend, sexy neighbor, the guy from
the school football team or their cheerleader). i think i don't need to mention that some people prefer males and some females, no matter if it's about
the meal or the cook (*whispers* but i did anyways).

# if you're into bondage, you might understand this one already. it's about not being able to control the situation as a meal or having control over someone
as a cook. furries who actually want to be cooked and enjoyed as a meal are called "willing prey" and those get a feeling of being as generous as
it can get, by offering their body as a healthy meal. they can also view it like most cooks / diners probably would: as the ultimate sacrifice to make someone happy.

then there is the aspect of control. i won't go into the specific psychology of why someone would like to be controlled by / to control somebody else since
this would go into the s&m and bondage stuff too deep, but i should mention it's usually not about hating someone. sure, there can (and will) be exceptions
to the rule, but it's as common as wanting to have sex with someone you hate. there are people who imagine raping someone they don't like, but it's the minority.
i personally am not into this kind of stuff and i don't support this way of thinking, but as i always say: as long as it's just fantasy, you're not hurting anyone.
so in summary: having control over somebody is not necessarily about a specific person you dislike. and i doubt you want to be controlled by someone you don't like either.

most people i know prefer to imagine cooking someone they actually like. cooking (or having to cook) someone you feel close to can be a thrilling experience.
from a psychological standpoint i'd say it's about the feeling of losing someone without really losing someone. that thrill fules the pleasure of
the people involved. kinda the same reason why scientists think we love horrorfilms. because we can allow ourselves to be scared without the danger of a real threat.
it's also the adrenaline rush you get by jerking off to something that usually is against your moral, at least to some extent. of course, if you completely 100%
disagree with something and you forcibly jerk off to that, you might feel shame and depressed, so don't try it out until you can at least agree to our fetish in a
theoretical way (like saying "it's not my fetish, but i can see their point") ;)

# because of the extremely fatal result, this fetish depicts (roasted people), the idea of loss without real-world consequences and without real loss is a huge part
of the fetish. imagining how you roast / eat someone (someone's fursona) and later seeing said person being totally fine in the real world can give you a feel of relief,
which could even strengthen your affection to said person (that's just a personal theory).

on the other hand, you might be interested in cooking a generalized villain. like, the idea of someone cooking her / his boss or ex, or maybe an old school bully or
someone who simply deserved it. this aspect of the fetish probably comes from a grudge you feel about something in your past or even the present and it's a way of
coping with it. seeing a villain being cooked can feel satisfying to someone due to different reasons. same goes for people who like to see good people or heroes being cooked.

some of those characters might even have special powers to bring em back to life, to cook em again :P
# let us look at the different perspectives within the fetish.

(123)
from the point of view of-

THE COOK: as the cook, you're the one who's preparing the meal. you have all the power and control you need to prepare the furry. it's either a hobby or your job,
but it's mostly about having direct physical contact with the body of desire without the fear of being slapped / punched ^^
some people focus on their own pleasure, some focus on giving pleasure to the food-furry but in any case, you're the one who "executes" all the nice and sexy things.
being able to control what happens next and the pace of it can give the cook a feeling of either power or even responsibility. maybe the cook wants to make absolutely
sure the food-furry enjoys the ride into the oven or the spitroaster. or the cook wants to make sure everybody enjoys the meal, later being praised as "the chef".

the cook has the active role in this fantasy and is usually making the decisions. though some like to ask the food-furry about their wishes. sometimes it's even about
the conversation between cook and meal, which gives the end (serving / eating) more weight and makes it feel more final / fatal.
here i'd like to refer back to what i mentioned before. being able to allow yourself the fear of loss, without really having to be afraid of losing someone and having to
deal with the consequences.

THE DINER: the diner is the one who receives the cooked meal. this role also bears a certain feel of control, as the diner is going to consume the flesh of the cooked furry.
it's the feeling of sealing the deal, which fules the thrill of these people. the idea of eating someone who's cooked can give a feeling of power, like if you say
"don't mess with me or i'll have your head on a silver plate" and some people enjoy this kind of power. though they usually only see the end result, they still can have
information about the cooked furry. they could have talked to the food-furry before cooking, they could receive a small flyer with the biography of the food-furry or
they could simply ask someone who knew the meal before it was a meal.

it's like having insight into someone's life after a murder case. it suddenly makes the cooked furry feel more like a real person, which can either fuel the feeling of
empowerment or even create sympathy with the cooked one. there are lots of directions you can go story-wise.
another aspect is the idea of eating a beloved one. i mentioned that before; it's about seeing the result of the ultimate sacrifice. seeing your friend / wife/husband or any
person you feel close to, being served to you can be a very complex experience. knowing he / she willingly sacrificed him- / herself to be your meal can be very powerful.

THE DINNER: the meal plays the most passive role in this part and that's actually what it's all about. there are many aspects to this role which can lead to very different opinions
as to why someone enjoys playing that role, but here are some general ideas.
some people love the idea of losing control, that's why they play the dominated role in s&m. you can imagine, being tied up and prepared for dinner is even more "exciting" xD
being constrained and awaiting the "grand finale" can be a tense situation and quite a thrilling experience. knowing you won't get out of this situation, maybe even accepting it
and even starting to be cooperative and helping the cook is arousing especially because it's going against your survival instincts. sometimes it's even about exactly that feeling.
having your fursona being cooperative while also having her / him a mental battle between the instinct that says "are you crazy? you're going to die!!! it's unreasonable!!! get out of here!!!"
and the personality saying "but being unreasonable it's sooooo exciting!!!" can be the driving force behind this whole setting.

then there's a completely different aspect: being the meal also means being the center of attention.
some people don't get much attention in RL or they just wish a little more (or more intense) attention, so imagining being the main course during a festival or someone's party
can also be a thrilling experience. the meal doesn't have to worry about doing something wrong, doesn't have to worry about their (fictional) future and such.
got no worries, got no cares, just let the cook and the waiters do their job, which is making the meal delicious and tasty looking. it's like being king!
you, as the meal, only have to sit down / pose in whatever position the cook tells you to do and everybody will do the rest.
of course, the fantasies differ at this point again. some people like to be treated as a "royal meal" and some like the idea of being treated like pork, or even worse.
it's about either being promoted to the event's most anticipated part or being degraded to merely a piece of meat. no matter what, people who are into this role usually "want" to be enjoyed.

THE BYSTANDER: the bystander can have a passive or an active role to some degree. usually it's about watching someone else having a good time, but it can also be about having
some type of connection to the scene. like the idea of someone watching a dear person being prepared / cooked / eaten by strangers and not being able or allowed to intervene.
this plays again into the whole "fear of loss without consequence of loss" shtick and is a very important part in this aspect of the fetish.
the bystander can become an active role, though. imagining being the one who brings the meal to the cooking place or having to present your beloved one as food to a crowd because
of some rules / laws of a fictional country / group can be exciting as well. or doing all that by your own will, like the idea of selling your boy- /girlfriend to a group of people or maybe
presenting said furry to your friends.

as the bystander, you have the same feeling of passiveness or helplessnes as the meal, where you either "have" to deal with the situation or you're maybe even proud of the food-furry
in question. maybe you want to show everyone how incredibly tasty your family line is, maybe it's a family tradition or you just like to roleplay jerks :P

so there's a wall of text and i salute to your patience and / or your open-mindedness.
disliking this fetish but reading to this point proves that you're at least willing to understand what you initially didn't and that's very creditable.
if you're just someone who was interested in my thoughts, opinions and interpretations of the fetish, then i'm glad i could get your interest and would be happy about any comment.
and if you read this to point out any flaws of my interpretations..... then leave a comment too, i guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I might be able to add to this list. I like cooking a lot, but I also like more extreme fetishes, like gore and dismemberment and snuff.

Of course everything you said about the control aspects in cook/executioner, diner/judge and any spectators fully applies, but for me, the most intriguing and appealing factor of it all is mostly about what goes on in the mind of the dinner/victim, as they loose their very bodily integrity.

Being prepared and cooked is just one way of experiencing that. Other ways are transformation into living or inanimate things, amputation/body modification, gore, melting or dissolving and of course being cooked or eaten, alive or in pieces and possibly digested.

The body you knew as yours, for the most unchanging and taken for granted suddenly undergoes processes it's not supposed to, it never did before, and your brain has no experience to deal with it. That begins with the utter feeling of helplessness of being dominated, when being restrained to the roasting spit, shaved, basted, prepared, maybe even rendered immobile by cutting tendons or even limbs. It goes on with the physical change in the body and the sensations that might come with it. Feeling foreign objects go where nothing is supposed to go, be it a knife or a roasting pole, or stuffing. Loosing sensation in things that are taken away. maybe suddenly tasting the taste of your own tongue as it's roasted.

I am not so much a friend of pain and suffering. I don't want my victims in agony, as unbearable pain is just a distraction from the more interesting, mind-boggling things, and in my opinion it's hardly desirable beyond a little momentary spicing of the peaks (like being smacked by a lover, thats painful for a moment, but it makes up with both pleasant anticipation and warm afterglow after it)

As the body changes its integrity, so does the mind - for once as it copes to deal with the changes, but also because it's being changed itself. That might just be feeling sleepy from bloodloss or as you roast and your brain is cooked in your head, fighting to remain conscious, but it could also be more weird sensations. Loss of memories as parts of the brain are taken away or shifted, changes in self perception and identity, new instincts and emotions, for example when transforming into things. (feral instincts for feral animals, or the urge to please when being turned into a lovedoll)

Death holds only a minor appeal in that. it's the ultimate letting go as the mind drifts into complete and utter absence of thought, feelings, emotions, ... maybe combined with a last orgasm, but mostly death, for me, is a turnoff.

The meal, once dead, doesn't feel anything, doesn't think anything, doesn't partake in the action of cooking. But at that point you might as well just cook a steak from the freezer, it's no longer furry cooking - for me. Regardless of what it was, it lost that special property the moment its consciousness is gone.

Therefore for me, the most satisfying cooking, vore, gore, or whatever stories are the ones where this doesn't happen. Where the dinner is really aware of everything until the very end.

I think razor123 (and myself, too) came up with a few concepts where the prey being eaten (or otherwise vored, Razor prefers cock-vore) is completely turned into cum or even shit, but can still think and feel themselves in their new state - although unable to communicate or move - and usually they are loving it.

I still like realism, and in a realistic setting that doesn't happen. I really like your roasting and cooking stuff, but for me they usually loose their appeal the moment the meal dies. Worse, you often skip over that point, which would be the ultimate climax, one panel the dinner is still in the oven, roasting, maybe masturbating, the next he or she is taken out of the oven, perfectly roasted. Somewhere in between them would have been the main climax that I'm watching/reading the entire story for. Everything past is just epilogue

very interesting read indeed.
seems we view this fetish indeed from very different perspectives, which is an extremely interesting thought to me.
the most important part to you seems to be the psychological aspect of it and the "transformation" process, while
to me it's purely the physical shape and appearence.
the more something loses it's shape (by melting, transforming, chopping off limbs) the more it loses it's appeal to me.
guess i'm pretty superficial when it comes to fetish then ^^'
so while i don't put much focus on the death-aspect, a character keeps his / her appeal when dead and fully roasted, as
long as he / she is displayed well.
thank you for the insightful addition! i think this will actually help me do better and more rounded picture stories :D

yeah, I guess this could be summarized that some people are in it for

what it looks like,

while others would be turned on by imagining

what it'd feel like.

For the first, visuals are key, it has to be drawing or comic, and well made, too (stick figures won't do ;) )
as an author I am catering more to the second group as with written stories, all the visuals and everything only happens in the readers mind. Here the visual quality is secondary, it's the story behind it that matters.

But with your comics you are indeed in the unique situation to be able to cater to both simultaneously. And I have to admit, to me a sexy looking full body roast is definitely more appealing (and arousing) than a shapeless burger made from minced meat (made from the same fur)

That being said, there is that song by Cancer Barracks, "intercourse with 60kg minced meat", as such I wouldn't rule anything out. Aesthetics are always in the eye of the beholder ;)

Are there any other aspects under which to look at this fetish and like it? Visuals, sensation, ...

Sound and smell maybe? But that's tricky to portrait in a comic. One can describe the smell in a story or draw rising steam from body juices dripping and sizzling in the hot coals, but it still relies on the imagination of the beholder for the real deal.
