I had a bit of a rough night last night. It started with my cat seeking affection when I was ready to go to bed, which is pretty routine. When she's got me in the bed, not distracted, or on the toilet, she knows that's the best time to get pettings. Usually I give her a little attention until she's satisfied and she lays down on the other end of the bed, or heads into the living room to sleep.
Later that night I woke up with a bit of nausea from eating a big meal right before bed. I got up and took a couple of antacids, and went back to bed. Natalie decided she wanted some more attention. I wanted to sleep. Still, I pet her a little, and then tried to get back to sleep. I then felt her breathing on my face. She had moved her face right next to mine, not doing anything, just staring. I said "No, kitty, it's time to sleep." but she wasn't buying it. She laid down, but still kept her face right up against me.
So I rolled over so that I was facing Talia, my dog. I felt Natalie walking down towards the foot of my bed, over my legs, and back around. I heard Talia give a low growl, and when I opened my eyes, Natalie was standing over her, which she doesn't like, and staring at me. I said "No, kitty, go to bed." Then she tried to stand on top of Talia to get closer to my face again, which Talia REALLY doesn't like. So I had to push her away until she got the message, but that didn't stop her from waking me up a few more times during the night with her face against mine. I pushed her away until she got the message, only to come back again when I was asleep later.
This morning, I was half awake, and decided I didn't want to get out of bed just yet. I stretched and shifted, and my big toe slowly peeked out from under the blanket. Then I felt a claw bury itself in my big toe and all hopes of getting back to sleep ended.
