I forget all the topics I've been wanting to discuss, so I'll just cover Sonic Boom really quick. I finally caught up with both the game and the show. Lots of false information was fed to me last year, I'll tell you.
First, the Fire & Ice commercial was false advertising in the most disgusting sense. The commercial showed scenes from the show, pretty much. If you didn't remember those scenes being in the show, you might think they were cutscenes from the game. The game's plot kinda sucked. This time all the side characters were completely gone, not even Shadow & Metal Sonic put in an appearance. It was basically just chasing the little robot around for the entire story. Oh, and Eggman thought he could beat Sonic in races, because this is Boom Eggman and his plans are just dumb.
The game itself was pretty meh, as expected. At least the collect-a-thon aspect was optional this time, but really, it's just more levels of Shattered Crystal with Amy added as a playable character. I honestly have no idea why it needed to be delayed by a year. Dumb.
As far as the show... I recall reading that the writers were going to try to improve it this season. Maybe even add in more characters from the games. Where are those positive changes? All I see are more burns on fans of non-Boom-Sonic stuff in pretty much every episode...with some occasional jabs at their own show for good measure. But in general, I get the sense that the writers hate Sonic just as much as everyone else seem to. It's like self-deprication to even watch the show. Glad I'm not rushing to the TV at 6 AM every Saturday morning for this crap.
If anything, I'd want to write another crossover story with Boom just to sort of commentate on how generally snarky and unlikeable that universe actually is. Though, I'd try to be a bit fairer than that in my interpretation. But I don't have time for a story like that this year. Maybe next year... if Boom doesn't get itself cancelled.
I will say though, I found the army of dumb Tails in that one episode oddly endearing. And I admit that they are much better at finding things for Amy to do than I am... or anyone else to date for that matter. (barring maybe the comics that I don't read) But the novelty of Sticks is wearing off and she's just getting annoying. And... Sonic is still a full-of-himself asshole. (which he may usually be in different media, but he doesn't typically come off as an ass the way Boom Sonic does)
...Juuust waiting for Sonic Mania here... wasn't that supposed to come out soon? When's it come out!? SAVE US, CLASSIC SONIC!!! Err... I am fine. Erm, stay tuned for the next chapter of Sonic GeneX: the Series.
