<< Introduction >>

Drawing is something I do for fun in what spare time I have after working a full-time research career and having a very active and devoted family life. I will never be a high-production art machine. What commissions I accept will be a matter of personal preference and interest, may involve long-ish wait times, and I will only take things on at low volumes.

With that all said, once I take on a commission it is a responsibility I will take very seriously, and I will do my best to work with commissioners to get drawings to a point where the commissioner is happy with the result. I ask that my commissioners be respectful, patient, understanding, and clear. In return I will devote my creative energies and abilities to meeting the commissioner's desires to the very best of my ability and producing artwork that feels satisfying, special, and one-of-a-kind.

<< Things I will draw >>

• Lots of things! Especially things I like. These include dragons, paws, cars, cuddly scenes between loved ones, cyberpunk and science fiction, furry clothing designs... there isn't really an exhaustive list.
• My best advice is to have a look through my gallery to see examples of what I've done in the past. I am most experienced with dragons (and by extension, dragon paws), while other species or subjects I have less experience with may not look quite as good, but I'm always happy to try new things.
• Feel free to send me a private message to discuss your idea!

<< Things I will probably not draw >>

• Anything adult or pornographic, or otherwise 'red border', especially involving my own characters.
• Kinks and fetishes that really aren't my thing. I'm not going to make an exhaustive list - feel free to ask, but if it's something that has utterly nothing to do with anything you've ever seen in my gallery, the answer might well be 'no'.
• Copywritten characters or characters belonging to other people without their permission. I'm willing to consider exceptions for personal gifts and I don't mind doing fan art or works obviously inspired by some other IP; e.g., I probably won't draw Chewbacca or Judy Hopps, but I would be willing to draw your character in the Star Wars universe flying an X-wing or hanging out in Zootopia.
• Anything else that just doesn't appeal to me for any reason. I'll try to rationalise my decisions to you as best I can, but in the end I'm the artist here and neither of us is going to be happy if I'm drawing something I'm uncomfortable with. I won't enjoy the process, and the quality of the result will suffer for it. As such I reserve the right to refuse any commission.
• Again, please feel free to send me a private message and discuss ideas! I might say 'no' but I won't bite your head off, and we may be able to find a happy compromise.

<< Prices >>

Prices will vary with the amount of time and effort I perceive a commission to involve, and will increase based on the presence of multiple characters, high detail requirements, etc. The examples given are rough guidelines and base prices in US Dollars of generally what you can expect. Once we open a conversation about what the commissioner desires I'll be able to quote a more exact price.

- Badge-style artwork/single character portrait, no background: $20+

- Character scene - full body, various details and simple background: $25+

- Paw portrait: $15+

- Paw-wear designs: $15+ for a single image, or $15+ for a paw portrait (as above) plus $5-15 per design on those paws.

- Complex/detailed/multi-character scene: $50+

<< References >>

When commissioning me, please provide as much detail as possible pertaining to the idea you would like to have drawn, the content of the scene, relevant details, clothing, props, background, etc. If possible, provide useful reference artwork for your character(s). Refsheets are not required but are very helpful to the process. Components of a scene that are not described I will figure out on my own and may take artistic license with. My patience for making revisions based on information that could have been provided earlier will be limited, so please be as detailed with your wishes as you can from the beginning! The more detail I'm given the better I can make the work match your desires. On the other hand, if you want me to use artistic license and my own judgement on aspects of the artwork that's helpful to know too!

<< Revisions and progress updates >>

Generally I'll send a rough layout sketch early in the process to make sure the commissioner is happy with the overall arrangement of the piece. Once this is approved I'll continue work and add more detail, while sending 'work in progress' images at key stages. I won't set a hard limit for the number of times I'm willing to make revisions to draft artwork, because it depends on how well the requested edits are described, how big they are, etc. In general, just be sensible and I'll do the same! I want to get your art to a point that you're happy with it, and I'm willing to re-work things a few times to make this happen. If it's getting to three or four though I might start to dig my heels in.
My intention is to work with the commissioner toward a mutually enjoyable result, so I will send sketches and drafts during the process for approval. If changes are desired, it's helpful to me to hear about them as early in the process as possible as it's much easier to edit things then!

<< Payment >>

I accept payment via PayPal, generally in US Dollars but if you're based in the UK I'll happily do GBP. I'll ask for payment toward the end of the process once the commissioner is happy with draft versions, but before providing the final full-size image. Once payment has been received I'm still happy to make revisions and fine-tune the result.

<< Posting, use and copyright >>

Commissioners are entitled to personal use of the artwork, and are thus welcome to post the finished work to their gallery websites and use it for personal enjoyment, e.g. desktop wallpapers, user icons, getting a single print made for the wall of their home, etc. When posting, please credit me with a link to my gallery and, if applicable, a link to my posted version of the artwork. The artwork may not be used for any commercial purposes, i.e. any mass use or use that would generate a profit. Getting a wall print, mug or mouse pad with the artwork for personal use only is completely fine, but getting multiple units made so you can sell them to other people is not.

Also note that I, as the artist, retain the copyright for the artwork and reserve the right to post it to my own gallery websites and use it for promoting my own work.

Commissioned works may be resized and cropped for use as icons and avatars if desired; however any other alterations are only to be conducted by me. Do not remove any signatures or watermarks that I choose to include with the artwork.

<< Helpful Notes >>

• If you have specifics in mind, be as descriptive as possible, link to reference art, etc. It's helpful to me to have the best possible mental image of what you're after. If you're interested in a style similar to something else you've seen in my gallery, pointing out things you like in my own past works is a great way to help me understand the sort of look you want.
• If on the other hand you're happy to leave me with artistic freedom and see whatever I come up with, that's fun too!
• Effective communication is important. If English is not your best language it can present a slight challenge, but between Google Translate and some back-and-forth I'm happy to try and work across language barriers. If English is your first language, please make an effort to communicate with me in clear and complete sentences and reasonably accurate spelling as it will vastly help me understand your needs.

<< Ask me! >>

As said above, if you have any questions, concerns or special considerations, please drop me a line and ask! While there are some things I prefer not to draw (or don't believe you'd be satisfied with the result if I tried) I'm always happy to discuss things and find a compromise that works for all parties.
