On the 10th, my mom went to the hospital with severe breathing problems, which in turn were causing her severe cardiac problems (!). She was basically having a heart attack because she couldn't breathe correctly. The doctors were able to save her, but diagnosed her with early signs of COPD. Which if you don't know is very, very bad. They said, though, .that as long as she quits smoking, she'll be fine. I hope so does; I've been after her to quit smoking for years and she hasn't listened. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise; the wakeup call she needed. We'll see.
As for myself, when I was in the ER, one of the many medical people I saw noticed I had a Vitamin B12 deficiency. When I went to Garner Internal Medicine and saw Jim, my regular physician, he ordered bloodwork done to check my thyroid levels; he was concerned they were too high and this had been contributing to my severe anxiety issues the preceding week or so. Welp, just the other day, I called my mom and talked to her, and she said that the bloodwork came back. I'm unsure how my thyroid is, but apparently the earlier diagnosis of a B12 deficiency was correct and I have a Vitamin D3 deficiency, too! When I return to North Carolina, Jim wants me to get vitamin injections for several weeks to get my levels back up to normal, because apparently it's really that bad.
In the meantime, though, Michelle, my dad's wife (my stepmother, really) got me some B12 and D3 from the drug store for me to take while I'm here, to hold me off until the injections, so I've been taking those for about two days. Oh, well; I suppose there's worse problems I could have.
