Makes sense, because
1) We know how bullshit Charizard are (funny how we wank Ash's Charizard, yet when another comes along, we nerf it into the ground)
2) It had a type disadvantage; Ash never stood a chance (for example, his Talonflame lost to an Abomasnow, the Pokémon Talonflame literally has every advantage over)
3) Alain had higher stakes resting on this fight
4) Alain has been with his Charizard for years, whereas Ash has only had his Greninja for, what, a few months?
5) Why do people think anything would change after 20 years of the same thing?
6) The episodes were written by the same people who gave us Cameron and Tobias
Be content with the fact Ash came in second place
