1: why this journal?
i'm creating this journal for different reasons. i've noticed many people have different ideas of how meat works and while i know, some people have just fun with their own fantasy, i feel like it could make others believe those fantasies are real. on the other hand, i already talked about that stuff with others and they said, knowing how meat really works actually enhanced their experience in the furry vore and cooking fetish. so if you know your fantasy is far from realistic and you want to keep it that way, i'd still suggest you check out the indext for interesting facts, before you leave this journal ;)
2: how does meat get its initial flavour?
that's actually one of topics with the weirdest "theories" within the fetish. i've seen people who think that a larger variety of food makes a creature more tasty or that a creature would taste more like tomatos if it ate a bunch of tomatos before roasting. that's not exactly true, so let me explain how it really works.
the diet of an animal definitely affects the taste of the meat, but only in the long term. if you eat a kilo of pineapples and get a blowjob an hour later, your girlfriend (or boyfriend) will probably tell you your sperm tastes sweet. but that wouldn't make your meat sweeter. if you wanted to taste sweet, you'd have to eat fruits all day for at least a year to have a noticable effect. but the age of the animal also affects the taste, just as the gender does, which is caused by hormones. a young animal will have very fresh and tender muscles, with very short muscle strands. the more it moves, the stronger it gets and the muscles begin to grow. but ya know, an organism also collects "waste" during it's lifetime. so a young anthro living on a farm will probably taste better than an old drug junkie living in the industrial part of a large city or even a teenager who's taking aspirin to fight his daily hangover (for years).
being born as a girl is also a great way to become tasty :P the hormone estrogen actually helps with making meat tasty, while testosterone makes meat kinda smelly :/ that's why pigs, when born, are immediately castrated: so they don't produce any testosterone. estrogen is also the culprit for a girls hip-growth and we all know: fat is a flavor carrier. and fat also keeps meat moist, which is good :3
3. why do different species taste differently ?
chicken tastes different from beef or fish, we all know that. there are four reasons. for one, different species have different DNA which causes the subtle changes in the flavor of the meat. then, there is the difference of dark and white meat. another reason is the muscle-fat ratio, a gepard has less fat than a walrus. and last but not least, the diet. herbivores taste different from carnivores because the cells of herbivores get a different amount of stuff (vitamins and such) and they are also able to produce certain things that carnivores can't. so different species have not only different diets, but also different DNA (duh) und different ways of life.
4. why are there different cooking times for different types of meat?
the reason for that is the length of muscle strands. the larger an animal, the longer the muscle strands and the longer the cooking time. for example: you get some beef from a cow. what do you usually do? you let it hang out for a while so the muscle tissue starts to "decompose" masking the meat more tender. you can do this because the long muscle strands won't start to turn bad too fast (this is also called "aging"). after the meat got tender enough, you can start cutting it into slices and roast it. things like chicken or fish can't be treated like this, because the strands are shorter. have fun aging a clam xD shorter muscle strands are also easier to cook because they have less connective tissue. this tissue starts to dissipate under small heat, losening up the meat. that's why a peice of beef in a pot of boiling water will still look untouched after an hour while a piece of fish would probably end in fish soup.
also, the older the animal, the longer the muscle strands, which makes the meat even harder to cook. additionally, old meat usually has less water, so when trying to cook old meat, you'd have to either boil it before roasting it or baste it frequently.
5. what's the difference between white and dark meat?
that's easy. almost every creature has dark meat. it's the muscle tissue that is frequently used. it's dark because of the stuff that transports oxygen from the blood into the cells. dark meat also has more zinc (even more than tuna) and iron (even more than spinach) as well as some vitamins and other important things, which means that dark meat is not "bad" for you. you just shouldn't eat too much of it though (don't eat dark meat on a daily basis)
6. how does human meat taste like ?
that's an interesting one, isn't it ? :P 1931 a guy named William Buehler Seabrook had the chance to actually try some human roast. in a journal, he described it like this:" it was like good, fully developed veal. not young, but not yet beef. it was mild; good meat with no other sharply defined or highly characteristic tastes, such as, for instance, goat, high game or pork." if you read question 4 you'll know that young meat (veal) is quite tender and easy to cook. so an older anthro/person would probably taste like prime beef.
7. why is cannibalism always portrayed as something evil? (is cannibalism bad for me?)
there are again several reasons for why cannibalism is portrayed as a bad thing. yeah, killing a human (or any intelligent creature in general) is a bad thing. but why do movies and other media tell us that cannibalism makes you ill or dumb? even in the middle ages people thought you'd turn into a ghoul if you ate human flesh and many monsters in mythology all over the world are always evil because they eat human flesh. the wendigo, the minotaur. fact is: brain tissue has a different kind of cells with a different structure. this type of cells actually causes all the trouble. if digested, it has almost toxic effects. if you continue to eat brain tissue, you are at risk of getting a disease called "kuru". wikipedia link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuru_%28disease%29 hundreds of yers ago, people didn't know it, so they assumed eating human meat transforms you into a zombie. so as long as you don't eat the brain, you're safe ;) the liver is also something that should be avoided, as it filters toxins and we all know, people don't tend to eat all healthy stuff <_<
8. should i cook a real person?
no
if this was the first question you looked up, you have a great sense of humor. if you expected a serious answer, you should seek professional help! it's a fetish! not a mental health problem!
9. why does meat change its color when roasted?
this one is a little more complicated and i'm going to draw a picture set about that topic someday, but suffice to say it's a chemical process involving the so called maillard reaction. but it's also important how you cook the meat. there are two critical factors involved in cooking meat. 1: heat 2: water
we all know that water begins to condense/ vaporize above as soon as it's fluid (above 0°C) but it won't rise above its boiling temperature of 100°C meat on the other hand won't really vaporize. because we're all carbon based lifeforms, meat, when burnt, will turn into ashes. meat will also change it's molecular sturcture when heated (above 60°C or so) so the trick is to change it's structure and make it delicious without vaporizing all the precious water so we don't end up in a pile of black powder. now that we know these facts, we can actually start to experiment with different ways of cooking our furry friends! of course, different types of species (mammals, lizards, fish, birds) will get different tones of golden and/or brown deliciousness depending on type of cells, length of muscle strands and amount of fat. generally, it's the different amounts of stuff like iron, zinc, riboflavin, niacin, thiamin, folate, selenium, phosphorus and so on and so forth, that causes the difference in not only taste of meat, but also roast-color. it's like a very precise recipe for every species :P
10. what kind of meat is the healthiest to eat?
to have a really healthy diet, you should eat poultry every second or third day. fish is theoretically healthier than beef, but shouldn't be consumed every day since the water on our planet isn't really the cleanest anymore :/ beef can be eaten one a week. in general you have to think about what a human would eat naturally. you are an omnivore, meaning if you'd live in a cave, you'd probably eat mostly fruits and nuts, maybe roots every now and then and you'd ask your pals if they're ready to hunt every week or every second week, depending on how many animals there are in your vicinity (within 15 km) and hunting is not a guaranteed success ^^'
to be safe, don't eat one type of meat several days in a row. mix it up, eat chicken on monday, pork on tuesday, fish on wednesday, chicken again on thursday, beef on friday, give your mother or sister a hug on saturday and roast her on sunday ;P (if you didn't read question 8 at this point, now is a good time to do that!!)
11. summary
meat is tasty, not always healthy, but still vital. just like oxygen! it's slowly killing you but you can't live without it xP and if you're vegetarian: you're probably damn tasty! AND FOR F... SAKE DON'T EAT REAL PEOPLE!!!
just mentioning it so the police (or some peta guy) won't show up >_> although i think the people at peta wouldn't mind if we started eating people as long as we spare teh cowz, piggiez and burdz :3
anyways, if you have any questions, ask em in the comments and i'll do my best to answer!
Since it seems you've done some actual research: What's your take on the live roasting thing?
I refuse to do live roasting in RP for several reasons, but one of them is that I'm sure it's a fast way to make the meat inedible. Especially if you leave the innards in. But that doesn't mean I don't think it's sexy when you draw it :)

first, let me tell you that as a gastronome, i actually had to learn part of that stuff. in germany, you start a 3 year apprenticeship in whatever job you can find / get. within this time, you have to learn about theory as well as actually work and in the end you have an exam. so i didn't do much research in order to create this journal ;) but i'm glad you liked it!
to answer your question: with live roasting, if i understood correctly, you mean the fantasy of roasting a furry alive. i actually love the idea of live roasting or live impaling, which slowly drains the "life" or "energy" out of the person in question instead of horribly killing it. i know exactly that roasting an animal or person alive would be a bad idea, because of several reasons. the blood would clot, the innards would rip and spill all the different fluids, like the gall bladder, and the adrenalin would dry the meat out and such. but to be honest, realism is not always what we want. if we play shooter games, we don't really want to kill people. if we do bondage with our mates, we don't actually want to do them any harm. same goes for the cooking fetish. blood in games is ok for me, but blood in erotic pictures makes me feel ill. never had to throw up but i bet i could.
when it comes to the fetish, there are real things i sometimes like; for instance beating the prey unconscious or killing it with a blow to the head with a club before roasting it. cutting out slices when serving the girl or beheading her (without blood). i try to avoid / skip scenes that involve organs and blood, because a pile of squishy, bloody guts has no sexappeal in my eyes.

Thanks for the answer! I'm happy to know I wasn't off the mark about the realities of live roasting. Also it must hurt like hell, in reality, and strangely enough that is a turnoff for me.
I understand the appeal of the live roasting situations where a character dies while turning into dinner for someone -- or while being the dinner of someone. It just doesn't work for me in roleplay -- I like the connection between death and sex much more explicit, and climbing into the oven to fuck the roast is not a good strategy :)
By which I mean to say, if live roasting was a thing I wanted to RP, I'd probably be able to ignore the messy realities too :)

Under 7 you might mention that the liver should also be avoided. Not only is it a filter for toxins but it can also cause an excess vitamin C condition.
Love your work.

well, i'd generally avoid eating organs. not only because they contain some nasty stuff sometimes, but also because muscles taste better xD (ok that last point is just personal opinion) but yeah... ya know, i don't want to tell people what to eat or what to avoid and i certainly don't want to inspire anybody to get the idea of eating a real person ;)
thanks for your input though, i'll consider adding it after dinner :D

And that's livers from top predators -- polar bears eat seals which eat big fish which eat small fish, concentrating up vitamin A levels (and various toxins) with each step. Herbivore livers are probably much less dangerous.
I think it's actually vitamin A excess -- see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypervitaminosis_A#Histo
This is one of the reasons why I like stuff where cannibalism is a post-mortality future fetish-niche, where bodies are grown specifically to the owner's instructions and cloned bodies are on standby to catch the newly-deceased's conciousness via super-neurotechnology that is (currently) completely impossible in reality. Not only do you bypass all the pesky laws and morality issues, but bodies can be designed specifically to be cooked alive and still be tasty! Plus you get to cuddle with your (consenting- if it's a sexual fetish-type thing, then without consent, it still is rape) victim afterwards- so it's pretty win-win.

i wouldn't call it "stupidity" but rather just "your opinion" i'm sure there are people out there who agree with you, just as there are people who will partly agree or completely disagree. for me, it's like playing a game with god-mode on. a game you can only win or win too easily is no fun. i wouldn't play a pvp game where nobody can die ^^'
