Will Tyler's Trouble Become a "Thing?"

I wasn't really planning on it, but seeing as there is a lot more interest than I expected, I guess now is as good a time as any!

I'm looking for an artist to collaborate with and make Tyler's Trouble an actual thing again, and I could really use your help in this. Yes you.... and you, and you, and you! *peers through his magical magnifying glass!*

It would be a multi-issue anthology "Slice of Life" graphic novel in the same line as others such as Circles and Associated Student Bodies. This means I need an artist who is interested in setting out on a long-term collaborative journey where we can have a stream of communication through the production process to put out a professional product. This would not be a "commission" based relationship. It would be one where the both of us work on the project, get crowdfunded, and profit off the proceeds for the project together.

The Original Tyler's Trouble

To give a better picture of what I'm looking for, here's some insight the original production and my intent that I had when first set out on creating Tyler's Trouble:

As I mentioned on page seven's description, Tyler's Trouble was originally a piece that was commissioned by Jery Softpaw when he was preparing Issue 2 of Softpaw Magazine. I did it as a favor to him since we were old friends, and saw it was a fun little project to do. Jery asked for a simple 6 or 7 page "babysitter story." I did my work for free, and Shiuk got paid for making the art. I wasn't so much interested in getting paid as much as wanting to see a work of substantial value being published. But once Issue 2 was out, Tyler's Trouble turned out to be very popular, and I suddenly saw the prospect of creating something much greater than what Jery called "smut." I realized.. hey.. this could actually be a real story. We even had t-shirts printed and sold at AC 2007.

As a result, I expanded the world that Tyler, Doug, and Ms. Brody live in to make room for a broader, long-term storyline. This included a full cast of characters and a rough draft plot with a foreseeable conclusion. I even went so far as to create a chronological timeline of the characters' lives, their family history, past experiences which helped develop the characters' and their motives, plus a short-story which I never published.

Because Softpaw Magazine ended, funding disappeared. The second issue was planned, but never got past the rough draft stages. Shiuk's life situation had changed, so he was much more in need of taking paid commissions to make a living. At one point we found a potential funder, but that plan fell through after the funder's interest floated onto other things.

Now thanks to the rise of crowd-funding, I could see something happening again. But, I need to find an artist. I'd be willing to still work with Shiuk, but I'm also keeping my mind open on working with any others in case he's not interested.

What I'm Looking For

I'm not one to go around soliciting random artists. That simply doesn't seem like a good way to go about this, so I'm writing this as an open invitation. Here's a brief list of qualifications that are important for anyone considering contacting me:

• The artist needs to be of at least substantial note. You don't have to be a Blotch or a Terrie Smith, but a bit of notoriety would be helpful in order to generate sufficient interest.

• Quality over quantity. Speed is nice, but honestly isn't a huge concern. I'm more interested in putting out something amazing. This would obviously mean you wouldn't get paid by the hour. You would get a share of the funding proceeds from Patreon or whatever crowdfunding platform we decide to use.

• Someone with an open mind who won't get upset over revising work, last-minute changes during production, who doesn't mind another artist picking up a pen and changing minor details, adding in extra colors, or revising art to ensure the product is print-ready.

• At least some experience in creating comics in the past would be nice.

• Basic knowledge of professional pre-press standards. This includes understanding of industry terms and concepts, such as DPI, CMYK vs. RGB color spaces, color separations, alpha channels, vector-based graphics, bleed, halftoning, etc. (I would be handling the page layout in InDesign and Illustrator, inserting dialogue, etc, but just an idea of what I'm doing would help.)

• Last but not least, someone who is not afraid of controversy revolving around shota / loli / cub / ageplay themes. This includes explicit visuals, explicit language, heavy themes and "true-to-life" subject matter. You might think I'm joking, and things aren't as bad as they were back in 2007, but ironically, when you expand past mindless smut and write a story of significant worth, people start taking notice and you could end up on sites like lulz.net. So yeah, be prepared for it. This is important! I don't want someone who's going to back out if things get rough!

In summary: https://youtu.be/ryV5QV4DpwU?t=35

If you're interested in pursuing this, please contact me and we can work out the details. I have a feeling this could turn into something big, so don't take this lightly! I'm interested in serious candidates for long-term collaboration and partnership.

Comments, suggestions, etc. are welcome, as usual. I will probably be revising this posting as time goes along.

I recently stopped by a friends house who had the original softpaw magazines.  There is just something so much more vibrant about holding the prints in your hands.  The printing you guys used back then way seriously top notch.  It's a real shame I can't get a copy for myself anymore.  I won't make that mistake twice.  I hope you find the artist you're looking for.  I'll happily pitch in, keep us updated when you have a patron or whatever setup ya?

This would be tempting, but I am not a very consistent draw-er.

I would reccomend contacting

Stripes
, he has a relatively large following including me and I am personally say he is an absolute joy to work. When him and I were working on a collab comic almost a year ago, it went by so smoothly that it was strange just how quickly we had it done. He is an amazing artist and I know that a lot of people like his style.
