Donations are now closed! Thank you to all who contributed!
And a chance for free art, too! I really enjoyed doing this last summer, and have been super excited about doing another one during my winter vacation! My current plan is to do this on New Year's Eve by Japanese time - Dec 30 - Dec 31 for most people in the western world. I might bump it a day earlier if this is too inconvenient for people.
This time around, I'm trying some new things, keeping some popular things, and fixing all my mistakes from last time. Now, all it needs is you guys~
TL/DR version - Donate to Inkbunny - reply to this journal - watch me play games for way too long.
What's this about? Inspired by Speed Demos Archive's "Games Done Quick", I wanted to do something to help support the site. In a nutshell, donations will go to Inkbunny, and the amount will be used as a "vote" to influence what I play, and how I play during a single segment, non-stop run. I'm not a speedrunner in any sense of the word (except for Super Metroid any%), so this will mostly be an endurance gaming run!
Wait, non-stop?! Well, there'll be occasional breaks for biological necessities - meals, bathroom, and life-giving coffee. These shouldn't take much more than 10-15 minutes, and will be spaced in between gaming blocks. During the previous event, I miscalculated a bit, and ended up needing a whole weekend to finish! In the off-chance I'm not physically capable of finishing it in a single run, the marathon will continue immediately after I wake up.
Voting? Yes, voting! This comes in two different flavors. One is a flat-out voting to choose between two different options. For some games this is the path taken to finish the game, in other cases, this is used to decide which games I'll play from a given series. The other way is an amount goal, where the effect will only happen if a certain amount of money is voted towards that goal. Pretty much all of the summer event ran off this method.
The Games
The summer event ran off of gaming blocks, where a collection of games would be added to the marathon if certain requirements were met. This time around, most of the games will be played regardless of the donation amount.
+=====VOTE=====+
Super Metroid (snes) -- Save the Animals // Kill the Animals At the end of Super Metroid, there is an optional room you can visit to allow the friendly Etecoons and Dachora to escape from the exploding planet. "Save the Animals" means I will rescue them, "Kill the Animals" means I will cackle maniacally as I ignore them. I'm including this game again as a warm-up~
Megaman -- SNES series // Gameboy series The vote will decide which three games I will play. The SNES series will be Megaman X1 through X3. The Gameboy series will be Megaman III through V.
Fisting Simulator (PC) -- Shores of Hell (ep2) // Inferno (ep3) Back by popular demand! Really, this is just the original Doom played without using guns (fists only). Medium difficulty will be used. The vote will decide which episode I play from the first Doom - Shores of Hell, or Inferno. No cheats will be used, save for the final bosses. Although it's possible to kill a Cyberdemon by punching it... it's not very fun to watch...
Undertale (PC) -- Pacifist Run // Genocide Run Pacifist Run means that no monsters are killed, Genocide Run means everything is killed. Both runs make for a completely different game. I have not done a Genocide Run yet because the idea makes me extremely uncomfortable. However, a Pacifist Run will make me cry. Bonus points if the goal is met for a camera...
No Warp Mario -- Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) // Super Mario World (SNES) The vote decides which of these two Mario games I will play. In both cases, I will not use any Warp Whistles in Mario 3, and I will not visit the Star Road in Super Mario World. This means I will be unable to skip directly to the end!
+=====AMOUNT=====+
Rage Games (PC) -- 30 min / $20. Cap at $100 (3 hours) The amount donated towards this goal will add time to my play of anger-inducing games (I will play 30 min regardless). The game (or games, in the off-chance I beat the first one), will be decided by secret ballot performed by a third party. I will not know what games I'll be playing until 10 minutes prior to the event.
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (gb) -- Swordless run at $100 This will be the original print version of the game for the regular Gameboy (not the Color re-make). If the donation goal is met, I will play through the entire game without picking up the sword. However, the run will end once I encounter the last boss - you need the sword to kill him unless you work some wizardry I'm not capable of! Still, it's a pretty wild run~ If the goal is not met, I'll play a normal run-through.
Startropics (NES) -- Actually play at $50 If the donation goal is met, I will do a full playthrough of this awesome game! If the goal is not met, I will start it up, play a funny sound clip, then close it. Sadface.bmp :(
Sonic 1-3 (Genesis) -- Actually play at $100 If the donation goal is met, I will play through Sonic 1 through 3. If the goal is not met, I will instead eat a chili dog. Nom.
+=====CAMERA=====+
KetsaCam (face) -- God, I'll need to get dressed... As a separate, side goal, if the total amount of donations reaches $500, I will buy a webcam, and play the whole event on video. You'll see me cry in Undertale, and $!(#$*&!@# in whatever Rage Game I'm subjected to...

After you've sent your donation to Inkbunny, please reply to the appropriate message with the amount donated, and the target of your vote For example, you donated $20 to Inkbunny, and want to contribute to the Undertale Genocide Run - reply to the "Undertale donations go here" message and say "Donating $20 to Pacifist Run". I-I mean... wait...
Oh boy, I'm ready to donate! Fantastic! Here's a few easy steps to follow to make sure this all runs smoothly (smooth is good~)
1) Donate to Inkbunny. Be sure to display your snazzy new donor badge - it'll let you sit at the cool kid's table at lunch! 2) Reply to this journal stating how much money you donated. I'll have sections for each game - please make it as a reply to whichever game block you'd like to contribute to. If you'd like to split your amount between multiple blocks, reply to only one thread and say how you'd like it split. If you are not comfortable saying how much you donated, you can certainly tell me this via PM~ 3) Get yourself some hot cocoa and fuzzy slippers - you so hawt~<3
I've heard that Inkbunny can't take PayPal donations - what do!? Actually, you can donate through PayPal! You have to go through a bit of an alternate route, but the staff can help you through it if you open a donation ticket. Alternatively, I'm able to take donations directly, and relay it myself. Credit will still be given to you, of course. I just can't do too many of these, lest my PayPal account get flagged or something.
But I'm chronically broke - what can I do?! It's all good - I've also got some bonuses for plugging the event! Make a reply to "Journal plugs go here" with a link to your announcement, and I'll add you into a raffle. Depending on how many entries there are, I use random.org to pick a couple winners to receive a colored sketch based on the games in the marathon. Basically, your character cosplaying / themed on whichever character you'd like from the above list. Or if you just want Undertale fanart, that's cool too~
For examples, here are the winners from the summer event:

How long will this take / When will you run these? I haven't yet timed all these runs, but my estimate is around 22 hours, give or take. My time zone is based in Japan, but I'll aim to make it convenient for most viewers. Still, I'll be running for a while, so anyone interested should be able to catch at least part of it. I've also learned how to archive things on Twitch, so people can catch it at a later date~
I will close off donations on December 22nd
This will allow me to practice the games, judge their average clear times, and set a rough schedule for the event. I'll post an event plan so that people can have an idea when their games of choice might be run. At that time, whichever option is leading in the votes will be the one chosen for the run.
Those were lots of words... and I didn't take notes... Yeah, me neither... Here's the synopsis:

This time I should have all the issues worked out with recording and the like, so you should be able to catch things afterwards~
If you need to piggyback your donation on mine (I intend to later), that's no problem. I'll be doing it through PayPal, though, so it'd all end the same way ^^;

I'm still planning it! I was actually considering starting another journal soon asking for game requests~
-Super Metroid will definitely be on the list, and I've worked out a faster travel course for it. -I'm highly considering using Dark Souls 2 as this round's "Fisting Simulator" -It seems that N64 emulators are pretty good nowadays, so I was thinking of running Mario 64. Probably with a donation goal for 120 star, and maybe a side thing to run an additional 0 star playthrough.
I'm very open to suggestions if you have any, too :3

Hate to spam your inbox. But really thinking about it, a big part of the game is playing it for the first time, so you'd have to choose between that and the speedrun vs 100% option D:
