Anthrocon 2015 Report!

Wow, I am like.. the last person to write a report about AC in the entire universe! Almost two 2 weeks after it ended! I also got a ton of comissions and gifts waiting to be posted, but since I'm a very well-organized spottycat, first of all is finishing up with the notifications and unseen submissions here! So pleeeze, hold on just a couple days more ^^

Now, the con!

It all started with a trip to Munich, since @Moof had found a really good deal for both of us to fly to Philadelphia, that costed 3 times less than going to Pittsburgh directly from England or Spain. Go figure!

Very, and I mean VERY nice city. Would love to go again and see it better sometime!

Once we arrived to Philly, my friend lioness84 and @SammyStowes were waiting for us at the airport. Moof stayed with him for some days and I went with her to see New York and Washington, and I also loved both cities! ^^

And now, down to the con!

We arrived to Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Yep! 3 days before it all started oficially xD but it was good, cuz there was a ton of people I wanted to hang out with, our other roommates, all from Mexico! Poor Moof must have thought that we were really rude because everytime we were together with them we'd almost exclusivelly speak in spanish x3

, ruakuu and domin-omega . In our room there was finally someone who couldn't attend, so it was just Moof, Paco and me. But we usually hung out with the rest who were in the room next to us. Really, really nice people, very funny too! Oselotti left earlier than expected, and I couldn't get to say goodbye to him, which I regret very much! ;___; Him and Targus made me laugh a lot with their quips and sarcastic comments.

The adventure started going to Pittsburgh's zoo, which is quite nice, and another mexican joined us for it, yxm . So more spanish speaking for poor Moof! Then, in the evening, we went to the mall, with yet another mexican, this time a fellow cheetah too! h2c1b . In the mall, I saw this AWESOME Rocket Raccoon figure that I wanted to steal, but in the end I just got 2 t-shirts, and one was... girl-sized so I couldn't wear it without feeling shame x3

Now AC starts! Big queue to get registered, even going the previous day and even being sponsors! but didn't take more than 30 minutes or so in the end, so that's fine, considering how many people went! more than 6000!

Now lemme tell you that it's the first time I go to a con that isn't in a hotel, but in a FUCKING WHOLE CONVENTION CENTER, an enormous one, too! The dealers' den was HUGE, to put the best comic and manga fairs to shame. And in the same pavillion, the artists' alley and the art show. You really didn't need to move much to get into the 'commercial - artistic' part of the convention, which is where I love to be the most during daytime :D

But there was another place to get art! The Zoo. It's another big room with big-rounded tables where people go to hang out and socialize. Some artists go there to draw, other people go to play board games. Over there, the first day I got to meet

, a long-time online friend that proved to be (as usually happens) even better RL! I hung out a lot with him and had a lot of fun. Miss you, loggers!! He even invited me to his trademarked cocktails at his suite in another hotel, with all of his roomies and friends, whose names I can't remember now (except zanefox , who was another artist I had the privilege of getting a sketch from!), but they were very very nice people too :D

And in the zoo another day is where I found

, whom I wanted to see from the first day but AC is so big that it's NOT easy to see someone! Except if it's coorandilla . If you're that birdie, I will run into you several times a day without planning it, which is something pretty awesome by itself cuz I like him lots, except when his friends give me hot candy x'D

With Ty were a BUNCH of Inkbunners, too many to count! So I will just name those with whom I interacted:

, with whom I hanged out for a bit longer than normal (my normal for cons is like... 5-10 mins. Everything above that is special!) and got to have dinner with him and Log one of the nights ^^

was a challenge for me to understand! xD He says he talks too fast, but I think that it was that he talked more softly than I'm used to. Anyways, got to meet him and talk to him a little, and he made me a sketch on my sketchbook, which is very very nice of him. Will post it soon! ^^

: I hadn't talked online with him much before, although I've been watching him as an artist for many years now! and interacted in some comments here and there. I was surprised to see he was so friendly and nice! Someone I'd have really liked to have spent more time with. He also drew in my sketchbook, but that's pretty much all the time we could spend together, and not all of it, cuz I went to get him a drink and I took eons to do it, and when I got back, he had already gone! xP

@TheMasturbatingBear : He surely made me laugh a lot with a silly video he made me participate on ;3 He surely stands for his nickname!

: Been stalking over her art for years. I really love her style, but we hadn't interacted much (or at all). Yet, she was so, so sweet! So much to make me a sketch too, that you can already see on her page.

@lilraccoon : Had some online contact with him since he's going to help us with IB programming, and when he said he'd go to AC I tried my best to see him! It was only for half an hour or so in his room in the night, but I wish it could have been longer!! Very nice guy I'd love to know better ^^ He was with a friend there, but as always, I suck at remembering names ;__;

panda is a panda named Panda that is Paco's friend! (panda mafia much) We got to have some drinks with him one night.

while I was in the elevators' queue. That was actually a good place to find people because sometimes it took a long time to get to them xD Loved to meet him too, since he is an IB user I've been following for years too!

organized D: Being the only IB staff representative in the con, I really should have gone. I really, really apologize to everyone who attended it. Also, my excuse is lame (but true): I fell asleep -.- Needed to charge my phone so I plugged it in for '10 minutes' and I closed my eyes in the meanwhile at the room. Next I knew it was 3 hours later and the dinner was over. Lost my best chance of hanging out with the people that makes this site so awesome. Sorry, Ty, and everybody else who attended =c I'll try to make it up to you guys!

I'm NOT forgetting anybody I met, but there were so many of you that it was just impossible for me to remember the NAMES D: Sorry I couldn't give you more attention. I wish cons were 10 times longer so I could be with each and every one for enough time to make it memorable.

kenket : We got at last time to speak for a while when she arrived. Very long-time friend with whom I had lost contact over the years. But it's so nice to see that when a friendship was good, it will remain forever. I love her to death, but not just because she made me a sketch in the sketchbook that I'll post soon in exchange of a couple of beers!

lioness84 : Loved to meet her again and spend 3 great days doing tourist-y things around the east coast with her! Who said you can't keep on being friends with your ex-(g/b)friends? ^^

@SammyStowes is just great. I really can't say how much I feel in debt with him for taking us back to Philly, and for inviting to so many things (drinks, breakfasts, failed TacoBell orders xD). Cat, whenever you come to Spain, rest assured that I won't let you pick your wallet for ANYTHING >c So you can leave it at home!

@Moof is my conmate furever, and a great trip companion, and a better friend. Loyal as a puppy (hell, it's what he is!). Always making things easy, smooth. Love you lots, pup! Thanks for getting the cheap plane ticket, for paying it in advance, for getting the nice hotel in Munich, for putting up with all of us spanish-speaking people, and for tagging along most of the time and sharing room with me again! We also had some good laughs with all the happy people at Munich Airport, and fought sleepiness like real men do the very last day!

was even better to meet IRL than I thought he'd be. He always says 'but I'm so shy and quiet!', but no! He was so fun to hang out with. Laughed a lot with him, specially that day in the headless room when I took a picture of his fursuit's head with an air tube under its neck xD I told him a lot of times, but my time with him really feels like if it hasn't been really enough. He's really someone who stands up to his art style: cute, sweet, innocent and adorable ^^

TL;DR version: another awesome experience :)

ADDENDUM: Back in Spain, only two days after getting back from AC, I went with

to another city, now back in Spain, and see an Elton John concert. We spent two awesome days exploring the city, trying to get fed decently and had a blast at the concert itself!! So my whole 'AC adventure' lasted for more than two weeks. Now you understand why it's taking me so long to catch up with work and stuff here! xD

Nunca he tenido la oportunidad de ir, ni en cuanto a tiempo ni económicamente, sin embargo, si un día se hace en México, o cerca, o algo parecido si voy.  :)

A lo mejor no me parezco a mi avatar, pero a lo mejor si puedo poner esa cara. =P

Oooh gato!! Fue un gustazo haberte conocido, que bonitas palabras las de tu journal, me hacen revivir muchos momentos, y también me hacen enterarme de donde andabas metido mientras yo estaba por otros lados. Mira que no me ha tocado coincidir mucho con personas que conocía por internet, pero si estuve socializando y haciendo nuevos amigos.

Fue una experiencia inolvidable.
Todavía recuerdo en aquellos ayeres, cuando te mencioné por primera vez que tenía muchas ganas de asistir a una Anthrocon, que me dijiste que no valía la pena ahorrar dinero para ello, que era mejor solo asistir a reuniones de furrys y no convenciones gigantes. Y la primera a la que asistí, y estuve contigo, jeje, muy irónico, pero me alegra mucho que así haya sido.

Y a la próxima, si me avisan cuando se junten los inkbunnys.

Se que hace unos años yo era anti-fursuit. Me daban miedo y no me queria ni acercar a ellos x'D Y supongo que eso era lo que hacia que no tuviera mayor interes en las cons. Bueno, eso, y que tenia dos problemas: falta de dinero y falta de gente con quien ir. Lo que puede cambiar la opinion y punto de vista de la gente, eh? :D Ahora hasta estoy 'considerando' lo del fursuit despues de ver el de Futcion.. ;___; que bonito, madre mia!

Y si, no recordaba que te hubiera dicho eso, pero fijate la de vueltas que da la vida :D Y sabras que si he ido a Anthrocon este año ha sido porque tu ibas! Si tu no hubieras ido seguramente habria esperado a otro año, porque era muy cerca de Confuzzled.. asi he tenido de liado luego junio y julio con el trabajo! Pero ha merecido muchisimo la pena.

Tambien es ironico que fueras precisamente tu el que propiciara que conociera a Moof y nos liaramos mutuamente para ir a Confuzzled al año siguiente xD Si es que eres una mala influencia, Paquito, me llevas por el camino del vicio y la lujuria! (si, esto ultimo lo digo por Art!)

Eso de los fursuits había sido mi sueño de niño, un sueño muy curioso porque no sabía aún lo que era un fursuit y menos un furry, yo quería tener mi traje de panda y estar rodeado de más animales. Qué bueno que sí es posible en este planeta poder hacer algo así :P
¿Quién es Futcion?
Claro que ha valido mucho la pena! Y qué mejor forma de conocerte en vivo que en un evento de este calibre, fue en verdad magnífico.
Y lo de conocer a Moof fue muy gracioso porque fue por error, creo que era el destino porque fue un error del cual ni si quiera me di cuenta, eso de que depronto ya estuviera en nuestra conversación, y qué bueno que se han llevado muy bien.
Perdón por llevarte al camino del vicio, pero...el de la lujuria? o.O Deja de ver con esos ojos al pobre de Art!! D:

pero es opinion muy personal, podeis ignorarme si deseas, jeje, es porque yo dibujo toony y me fascina
es como si a un skater le preguntaras si es mejor el skate o el alpinismo, obviamente te dirá el skate a pesar de que ambos son deportes extremos.
pero si tu eres feliz con uno de ese estilo, de todas formas te abrazaré muy fuerte

Aye - I'm sure you'll be able to see it sometime! I won't be going to MFF this year (or any other cons) but I'll be at AC next year definitely, and might have other conventions planned in the future, but that's unsure as of now.

I don't think I'll go back to AC any time soon.. it's too close between Confuzzled and Eurofurence and it's very expensive to go to from here. It was great for a first and one-time thing ever, but unless I become rich, not something I will be able to afford often x'D I'll prolly go to MFF every year, though. Madrid has direct connection with Chicago so the flights are quite cheap in December ^^

Totally understandable. Either way it was really cool to meet you! If I ever find my way to MFF I'll have to say hi so we can have drinks and you can see the ferret suit. :)

I still havent writen a proper ac report myself. at  this point I probably wont but 2 weeks isnt that long of a delay. also its Pittsburgh (gotta have that h on the end ;) ) Too bad I dint run into you guys while there.Anthrocon is a big convention and its easy to not run into people youd like to meet.

unfortunately I will not. I have mostly been going to texas furry fiesta and anthrocon the past 5 years. I would like to hit all of the cons someday but finances prevent me. But yeah I recognize a bunch of the people you mentioned in your journal.  @SammyStowes and
