Happy Passover! Happy Easter!

Mom came home yesterday by ambulance on a stretcher. She can barely walk, but she seems to be improving. She had a total hip replacement. I installed the portable commode the hospital gave her in case she needs to use it. Earlier today I picked up her prescriptions.

She's nervous about her recovery, and my nerves are frayed about my upcoming vascular appointment Thursday. My left leg's been on fire the past few months.

There's little point in your mother worrying about recovery; she will recover or she won't and there are things she can do to encourage the former. Beyond doing those things, all she can do is use her mind productively while she waits; read, enjoy movies on TV, knit, whatever she does for fun. (Laughter can promote healing, so comedies are a good thing.)

Good luck with your Thursday appointment.

Update: Mt. Sinai called back today. The doctor scheduled to see me on the 9th had a last-minute emergency and will be out of town. Until further notice, my appointment has been rescheduled for the 23rd at 10:15am.
