Reaction to MSNBC coverag of MFF hotel inncodent

Some people were not too thrilled by the reaction to furries that the news anchors had over the gas event that happened at the hotel where MFF was taking place. In fact one of them broke into a laughing fit as seen here http://redalertpolitics.com/2014/12/08/msnbc-host-mika.... Indeed it was very unprofessional of her to do this in the wake of an event that led to 19 people being sent to the hospital and she likely had her butt chewed out later.  However let me share my own personal opinion about the news coverage.

Despite sometimes telling ourselves otherwise, the fact of the matter here people is... we're nerds.  We are nerds, and just like any other nerd in the universe; we have a hobby/lifestyle that is seen as odd and yes funny to people outside of our circle. Its something that at times will get us mocked and trolled by those who deem themselves as "normal", but remember that we are not alone.  You know all those Trekkies, Jedis, Whovians and D&D nuts out there? They get their own share of teasing and redicle because they too are nerds, and at times their lifestyles are just as comical to the "normal" people of the world as ours is.  I know you're thinking "but they're not made fun of as much because people think we're sickos due to yiff stuff", but the thing is all the other nerds in the different circles get noses turned up at them too when the "regular" folks see their naughty side too.  For those "normal" people, seeing a pic of one of Dr. Who's assistants getting raped by a darlak, Jabba the Hutt boning Princess Liea or Captian Kirk making love to an Antican chick is sometimes just as odd and desturbing as a pair of anthro deer screwing Mrs.Claus or an orgy of Care Bears. We are sometimes heckled more because we're kinda new to the scene and not a lot of people know just what the hell a furry is.  However just give it time, and we will be grouped with all the other fandoms and labled as just nerds and geeks.

For now folks when it comes to reactions like this, we all just have to grin and bear it.
