A pain that never gets easier.

At 4:00pm est today, my little brother of 13 years, Oscar Mayer the daschund, passed from this world. He was a good doggie and a loyal companion. The pain of losing a four-legged family is never easy and no matter how many times one goes through it the pain never lessens. I will miss him greatly but I will carry on because I know that is what he would have wished me to do. But he was in pain and his spine was failing, I could have chanced surgery to extend his life another year or so, but I did that with Snitzel and saw she did not have a comfortable life for that remaining time she had. I know in my older years realize that keeping her alive was my selfishness, not a desire for her joy of life. This time I would not make the same mistake, I gave Oscar the rest he so richly deserved.

Farewell little brother, I will miss you always.

My condolences, Fscribe. [hugs tight] Our beloved pets and family members are never forgotten. I grew up with Molly, a black lab, I was by her side when they had to put her to sleep, petting her to the very end. I still cry when I think about it too long.. like now. You're right, they would want you to be happy and keep pushing on. Life really is too short, especially for a dog, best to give them the best possible life while they're alive and to do the same for yourself. Take care of yourself.

This is gonna sound very stupid and inconsiderate, but if you love any animal that much I would've chance the surgery to keep his life going... In time you don't know what may happen... he may have gotten older grown sicker and died any way or recover into good health via miracle... whatever happens it would've been worth it but we'll never know now... hope heaven has a better home for him RIP

He would not have been as active even if the surgery was successful and Oscar would have hated that loss of ability, he prided himself on his muscle.

Its hard to live immobile that's why everyone is afraid to grow old... but alas it's life cruel joke and most the time it's not funny but what is is the good times we used to share :3 at least that's how I remember the late and the lost...

It may sound controversial but belive me I don't want to offend you.

I know that such a lost is hard and painfull but try to look at it from another way round. You should... no, you must be happy that you have an opportunity to live with Him, that you could play together!

I can bet that He wouldn't be happy now seeing you sad so think: "How lucky I was to meet him" and turn your ;( into :)

All I've just written may sound bad and unsuitable because it is kind of breaking sterotypes but in my opinion we should look at the World more positively and taking bests of what it gives.

P.S. I'm writting on the phone + I'm not so good at English so be aware rhat sth can be written not exactly how I wanted it to be.
