Last day to buy sale commissions!

Today is the last day to get a sale commission from me! Please comment on the >>original journal<< if you're interested and I'll contact you!

Prices start as low as $5 for a colored sketch.

Thank you to everyone who has already purchased one, you have helped me enormously! For those wondering, my cat is going to be taken care of and I have a little bit saved up for bills as well. <3

For those commissioning me, I will be away from the computer today as I am attending my graduation ceremony! I will be able to respond to messages later tonight.

Ah, if I only I had ever graduated with any sort of art degree.  Went to two different colleges, got kicked out of the first one, spent five years in the second one (which was just a community college at the time), and never graduated at all.

I graduated high school.  That's the hallmark of my education, apparently.

It can be rough... I was lucky in being able to afford (sort of, with loans) my school, and my school wasn't even all that expensive. It was also a pretty small one so I was able to graduate pretty much on time.

Then again, seems like the Bachelor's degree of my parents' generation is equivalent to like, a Master's today. Things are more and more competitive these days and I'm starting to hear professionals advise artists to avoid art school debt and seek education elsewhere/self teach.

Guess I should be thankful most of my art is actually self-taught, then.  I've been drawing since I was about six.  I'm currently 35; I have years of practice behind myself, after all.  Then again, when I went to my first college, it was an art college, but this was back in 1995, when degrees still mattered, and no one was saying that art schools were necessarily bad for anything.  Got kicked back out later in 1995 (wanna say around... September, or something like that) because mid-terms came up and my flight back from Newark was late by... three days.  I missed my mid-terms for four out of seven classes, and the college just gave me the boot with a vengeance.  Then it was PBCC from spring, 1996 to spring, 2000, and still no degree.  Once I got up to Orlando, however, I learned about the horror stories of other friends of mine.  One had a Master's degree in Psychology and was, as he moved up, working a register at a Best Buy.  Another friend of mine had a Bachelor's in Biology and was working tech support, and after that, ended up working at a Wal*Mart.
