Only one small problem: Kavi was almost certainly lying about the entire thing.
First of all, if you click through Kavi's icon, you'll notice Inkbunny throws an error at you. That's because Kavi is 14, and therefore breaking the rules. As a consequence, she's been banned from Inkbunny by the admin staff until she turns 18. Edit: Her furaffinity account has been suspended as well, pending an investigation by the FA admin team.
Second of all, her story does not match. She claims to be living in Japan in Oishi, Minamitsuru District, Yamanashi Prefecture. No fatalities have been reported on Yamanashi-ken at all, and the quake was rather moderate there. There was some structural damage, but nothing too severe. And there were certainly no gas fires, which is the alleged cause of Kavi's alleged house allegedly burning down. She also claims that "It sucks living next to the ocean" -- Yamanashi is landlocked in the mountain range running down the middle of Honshu, and Oishi sits on a lake. Japan is only "next to the ocean" in comparison to Ohio. Which brings me to my next point.
Kavi has an online trail dating back several years, and almost all evidence points to her spending at least the last five years in Ohio. She is currently attending high school full-time in Ohio, which pokes big holes in her "in the US on vacation when the quake hit" story. She also has demonstrated that she is incapable of reading kanji without being able to paste them into a machine translator. She also claims to be working for Michael Bay, doing CG for Transformers 3. I find this unlikely, as Michael Bay has Industrial Light and Magic as well as Digital Domain tapped to handle CG.
P.S. I don't approve of the shenanigans that they may get up to, and I'm not endorsing this discussion at all, but lulz.net is on the case and have determined some very interesting things. It's kind of scary to be on the same side as /furi/.
