Still more Japan

by
The main journal has been updated, because
kajiura
kajiura
has checked in! Another person safe! I also posted a link to a well-written blog post that explains in everyday English how the Fukushima reactors work, for those of us that are not nuclear energy experts.

However, while so many people have been donating and showing their support and scrambling to organize both online and offline support efforts, not everyone is on the same page.

Sadly, these idiots are somehow capable of using computers:
Karma Japan
Ignorant and Online

And just in case you find yourself agreeing with these wastes of resources, Lobo64 on Reddit has already prepared a response for you.

God, I wish the Internet required a license to use. I know not all Americans are like those fuckwads, but good christ. The downside of the freedom of expression made possible by the Internet is that ignorant assholes get to use it as well. I can't read Chinese, but reportedly several Chinese forums are crammed full of flames that make the "karma for Pearl Harbour" meme look pedestrian by comparison. Ignorance knows no borders.

Update: Here's the anti-meme against that "payback for Pearl Harbor" bullshit

I saw a ... clip of one of the reactors 'exploding' and it was pretty big, today.  If that was the containment vessel's walls which were impacted by the explosion it is highly likely a meltdown is occuring inside despite the generators being shut down which is really really bad. =/

In the main journal, I link to a BoingBoing post written by a scientist. The likely explanation is that the explosion was a hydrogen explosion, and that the reactor, as reported, is stable.

I don't get the Pearl Harbor connections a lot of the people made in those links. Like, were two atomic bombs not enough to satisfy these people?

I'm pretty sure that for almost all of those people, their knowledge of Japanese history begins and ends with Pearl Harbour. You're giving them too much credit to expect them to know about Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Some of them can barely spell in English; it's a miracle they've managed to figure out how to use Twitter or Facebook.

I just saw this on NYTimes: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2011/03/13/world/as... Left = before, right = after. It really shows the level of devastation. Also: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/14/world/asia/14japan.h... says, "In one town alone, the port of Minamisanriku, a senior police official said the number of dead would “certainly be more than 10,000.”"

I've linked to a story about Minamisanriku in the 'main' journal. It's terrible. D:

As disgusting as it is, China and Japan have had a LONG history, the pinnacle of which was likely the events at UNIT 731...I think the A-bombs were enough, though. Seriously people; yes, it was horrible, but they got their up-and-comings; let it go! >_<

You should read my journal about my thoughts over the recent events in comparison throughout the world.
