AI encounter

Back when I was a kid we used to have a small notebook for school kids. They have puzzles, learning tips and small comics and art in them. The main point was to note down your homework though, but it made it more enjoyable than a standard notebook.

What I saw recently was devastating to me. They now use generative AI images for their covers, one of which showed many furry animals. I even was able to identify the art style of some of them. It's shocking seeing something you grew up with doing generative AI stuff. It hurt me a little.

The cherry on top of that is that it has "environmentally friendly" written at the bottom. And even though we don't know the correct numbers, we do know that it's high in electricity and water usage. So I don't know how they can say something like that.

To be clear though. It did hurt me seeing what became of something I used to have as a kid do something like this these days, but I'm not dwelling on it and the world sadly became this way. Right now I'm doing my own thing and art, so people who don't like generative AI can see what a human can create.

Hope you guys can stay positive this year, as it might be a tough one.

It's a shame what's going on these days, but not sure how avoidable it is as more and more companies start to use it.

Yeah, this AI slop is out of control by this point.  I'm going to take some drawing courses on Udemy and practice to up my skills as a visual artist.

It's nice to see some people still wanting to draw out of their own volition without using generative AI. What you've made so far looks good, I'm sure you can get better. Keep it up! :D

Thank you, my good friend. <3 Yeah, my skills border on "upper beginner" to "lower intermediate", but I just found this super course on Udemy by Skillet Academy called "Ultimate Drawing Masterclass".  Like, 80+ hours of instruction for $10 on sale?!  What?!  So I'll be going from top to bottom, diving in, repeatedly practicing all the lessons I learn. <3 I got a reMarkable Paper Pro tablet for journaling.  It feels like drawing with traditional media (like pencil on paper), but it's digital.  Perfect tool for practice imho.  AI can eat my dust. 😂

That does sound great! I wish you lots of fun learning and figuring things out. :D
I may not be a great artist myself, but I like helping out anyone who legitimately wants to draw and doesn't mind getting constructive feedback and help. :3
