Wi-fi was down all day yesterday, and we just got it back at the Super 8. That explains my abrupt absence from the internet.
So far, I've been making the most of things. Been watching CNN nonstop since I returned to my room; the storm damage is fucking mind-blowing! I was lucky to find one open restaurant and had my first real meal of the day.
Mom has no power; three trees fell down on our block, and I haven't heard back from her since last night. Called dad this morning and kept him abreast of things. He dropped a bomb on me: he said his mom (my last-surviving grandparent) died last month; he was afraid to tell me earlier. *sob*
Had chicken tenders at the Cromwell Diner and bought some jewelry for mom; I hope she's ok. :O I'm counting the hours before I check out; I may have to stay up all night to avoid oversleeping. My departing train arrives before 7am. I'll be a zombie, but at least I'll finally zoom back to New York. If trains aren't restored once I get to Penn Station, I'll need to hail a cab. Expensive, but I'm prepared for it.
This is one Furfright experience I will NEVER forget!! :P
