Since I did a lot of work on my own cars, and then on my friend's cars, I gotten a reputation of being an excellent street mechanic. But with that reputation is having strangers come up to you with dying highway heroes on their last legs and asking you to fix it for free (yes, parts included!) or lowest cost possible (they buy the part and you install it for free for them...) (GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE WITH THAT MENTALITY!)
I see a similar car, a Toyota if I remember correctly, owned by a woman driver and she never changed the oil or had its brakes looked at in over 10 years! how this thing was rolling was beyond me! The oil was literally goo! Viscous Goo! It was a bit looser than Silly Putty! I shit you not! And the brakes? Pads worn down to the metal pads and rotors down to their vents. Cost to ix this car in 1990's money was going to take it to 5Grand - which she tried to get me to do it for free! Oh Hell No! She took it to another street mechanic who managed to do the job on stolen parts or $1200. She ends up in a major accident and in a wheel chair for the rest of her short life (I hear Covid got her and a few other family members).
Que sera, sera.

A risk that woman took by driving with brakes that bad was, if she caused an accident that kills someone, and the police find out the brakes were bad due to neglect, she could go to prison for the person who died in the accident.

Risk? Well, you and I know what risks she took, but she was rather oblivious and ignorant towards them. I'll even throw in that she was probably unaware of them as well.
From the history of greater than 30+ years, she had a car that needed major work, she asked me how much to "Fix" her car, I gave her a price which basically she could buy a new-used car with but I would have put in new OEM Parts and guaranteed my work. She went with some crack head street mechanic who deals in stolen and questionable parts and he repaired the car for some ridiculously low price, $1200 IIRC. Days later she was in a bad accident that put her in a wheelchair and she never drove again. Was anyone killed? I do not know. But this crack head mechanic got away with creating this accident - IMHO.
But this is also why I do not work on other people's cars unless I know them extremely well and they are willing to spend the time and money to get the proper parts. If they want short cuts and sweet deals, I won't do it.

The video shows a classic example of how a car got totally ruined due to the owner letting the oil run down to less than one quart. And due to the owner never having the oil changed.
The connecting rod bearings were destroyed because of lack of oil. That's what the knocking noise is. With destroyed bearings, it wouldn't be long before one of the connecting rods (parts between the pistons and the crankshaft) breaks loose and smashes it's way out through the side of the engine block. That's when it's "game over" for an engine.
