The situation has changed

TLDR: Subscribestar. Here: https://subscribestar.adult/werewolfdegenerate

I was planning to pack my stuff and leave this place as soon as I have the insurance money. Get an apartment and a job, and start rebuilding my studio once I have the resources to do so.

Well, I'm not getting that money. The insurance company is going to rebuild my house instead. In a sane world, that'd be a great thing. However, it also puts me in some serious trouble.

My business went bankrupt last year as a result of the house fire, and I have no source of income anymore. I'm getting unemployment benefits at the moment, but it's not enough even for basic survival. It just about covers the dog food and car related costs, but that's it. I was able to manage by borrowing money from basically everyone I could, and I was going to pay them back as soon as I get the insurance money. That's obviously not happening anymore. I'm going to run out of money very soon.

My paypal is still banned, so I don't have an easy way of doing commissions. My Subscribestar was approved a few months ago, but I wasn't going to do anything with it until I have a studio again. I don't have any idea when I have a proper studio, but it's probably not happening any time soon, and I need to do something. So, here's what I'm planning. I'll try to get Subscribestar going, and turn it into some sort of income as soon as possible. I don't have a drawing display so I can't really make comics, but I have a computer and I can make 3d stuff with it just fine.

I don't know what I'm going to do with Subscribestar exactly. I'm going to be uploading a lot of 3d WIPs there, and I'm thinking that I could share some 3d assets, textures and maybe even complete characters at some point. The subscription price is stuck at the default 1$ / month. Someone subscribed pretty much right away when it was approved, so I didn't have the opportunity to change it, and it's now locked in. I'm thinking that I'll add some higher tiers with access to 3d assets and such, it could be an interesting idea. There's also a polling system, and maybe I could use that so people can decide what species etc. the next characters should be, that kind of thing. That way people are actually getting something out of it, there's clear added value. In any case, that's going to be my main business thing from now on, and I'm going to be uploading a lot of stuff there starting now.

Anyway, here it is! https://subscribestar.adult/werewolfdegenerate

oh wow man what a complex situation you're in now. And what a twist and lots of turns from what im sure most of us would have expected to actually rebuild the place.

Yeah. There's a lot of problems with this picture. I owe a lot of money to basically everyone at this point. I was going to pay them back when I get the insurance money, but that's just not happening anymore.

Another problem is, I'm stuck here, and I'm going to be spending the next winter here with what I have right now. I don't have money or time to prepare. Last year I was able to survive simply because we had an exceptionally warm winter. I'm relying on this winter being an exceptionally warm one as well, as there's absolutely nothing else I can do right now. If we get a normal one, I'm in a lot of trouble. I'm just going to ignore the entire problem right now as there's absolutely nothing I can do. Worrying about any of it is just completely pointless.

That Subscribestar plan probably isn't realistic, and in practice I'm going to be surviving on dog food until things start improving. However, it doesn't change the fact that I need to make it happen, impossible or not.

I don't know what the timeline is with the rebuilding project. It's probably going to take a while. So, right now I'm on my own, I'm not getting the insurance money and I need to figure out how to make this work somehow.

If you can do 3D, you should do avatars and accessorizes for Second Life / VR for some furs.
It should still pay well.

The problem is, I don't have any mechanism for receiving money directly at the moment. My paypal got banned, and there aren't any viable alternatives that'd allow nsfw commissions. I suppose crypto is a thing, but I don't know how to set it up.

Right now the best thing I can do is working on my Subscribestar, and try to get it going as quickly as possible. Not sure if it has a built in one time transaction for commissions and such.

check your local laws, but many states and such would allow you to claim lost income and assets as part of the insurance claim if they were DIRECTLY a result of the fire, in that case, the INSURANCE would be required to cover that up to their policy limits.

as far as the business, whatever you had for biz insurance should also have some provisions for the same if you had some kind of umbrella policy.

Well, that's one of the reasons why it was such a complicated situation. In their infinite wisdom, the insurance company decided that they're going to replace everything I lost, including tools and computer stuff, but that's it.

I could reject their current offer and ask for yet another round of negotiations, but it'd cause another massive delay and I'd probably get a tiny amount of money from them. The rebuilding offer itself is crazy generous, it's well over 10 times the value of the original house. There are some shenanigans associated with it, but it's absolutely not my problem. If I demand another round of negotiations, I'm almost certainly getting a very shitty deal, and then it's just delay after delay after delay.

And it still wouldn't fix the original problem. I'm still going to need a steady source of income, there's just no way around it.

think you're misunderstanding what i mean, the income you LOST, due to the fire? anything that's provable, as in you filed taxes on, that is now gone BECAUSE of the fire.... you can get them to pay most of the time, by law, as in the actual WAGE equivalent of your earnings, the insurance would have to pay, so not just PHYSICAL things, intangible ASSETS as well, so if a business went belly up? well then that's be the intangible of the value of the business itself, the wages from the business that you'd take as your pay? that too, the damages to the good name of the business, yup, and then there is the time, effort and undue other intangible damages that the fire caused; basically if the fire was the direct CAUSE of something damage wise, either in a physical THING, or an intangible ASSET (something of monetary value, tangible object or not) you can often claim it and they'd have to pay.
as far as the deal? i mean... there's no negotiating.... they are paid a premium, they are REQUIRED to replace and bring the insured property back to what is called it's "pre-loss state", up to the monetary limits of the policy, they don't get to DECIDE that value, they just have to make it as it was, whatever that takes, if they try to say it's worth X, but the market says it's worth Y, then you hand them quotes for said work, and they are REQUIRED to adhere to the fair market value of that work from licensed and insured contractor, it's a game every insurance TRIES to play, but down to the brass tacks? they don't get to, they just play on and HOPE you don't push on it and MAKE them, which is your RIGHT to.

I mean, it's just incredibly complicated. For every bit of lost potential income, I'd need to have some sort of paperwork, some sort of documentation. That's not a huge problem with a huge business with its own bureaucratic structure, but I never had that, things like signed work orders. The business records themselves were all destroyed in the fire. Even the tax office doesn't have that data, as it was still operating around the minimum cut off, so I didn't have to pay the VAT or anything like that yet.

They didn't state any values of the rebuilding project, that's just the information what I found. Building a new house is going to cost at least around 100k euros. I paid roughly 10k for the one that was destroyed. They're also going to replace the tools, things like the 3d printer, probably drawing displays, I already got a new computer.

Also I'm not even interacting with the insurance company directly anymore. My lawyer is doing that. This is the best one they were able to come up with. And yeah I could demand another round of negotiations, but I'm running out of time. I already have to survive 1 more winter here with no resources and without any way to prepare. If it takes another few months, then it's 2 winters. I don't have the time or energy for stuff like that, it's incredibly rough and even in the current situation my survival is not guaranteed. Last year I was able to survive because we had an exceptionally warm winter. The next one has to be another exceptionally warm one as well, I simply need it. However, I can't rely on that over and over again. If we get a regular one, I'm in a lot of trouble.

I mean, I can reject their offers and demand another round of negotiations until everything's perfect, but it's going to take a lot of time that I simply don't have.

Have you tried starting a go fund me or ko-fi?
WerewolfDegenerate

Ko-fi uses paypal as its backend. I had it at some point but I can't use it anymore as my paypal got banned. Gofundme is strictly against our fundraising laws so I can't set one up. A friend had one and they forwarded the money to me, but that workaround was super fiddly and it's still a legal grey area. Subscribestar is a lot safer as it's not "fundraising" or "donations", there's clear added value, so there aren't any legal risks associated with it.
