I know big crime is what ruins most of our days/lives the planet. But there are certain small and even tiny crimes that piss me off and I want to rant about it.
Cigarette Butts
They are everywhere. It does not matter if a garbage bin specifically for cigarette butts is nearby. They will be dropped on the ground regardless. And it annoys me to no end. Not only are you (smokers) forcing me to inhale your fucking poison smoke, you leave your droppings everywhere like a pigeon with diarrhea.
Petty Vandalism
I am not talking about graffitiy or destroying something for a purpose or to make a statement. I am talking about destorying things that benefit everyone. Public bathrooms, drinking fountains, benches, trees/bushes, garbage cans, fire hydrants, fire extinguishers, etc...
Basically any infrastructure meant to improve safety or quality of life for everyone. Because not only does it prevent the use of these facilities, it also costs public money to replace them or cause them to not be replaced. There have been so many cool projects, that would have made the world a little better, that were canceled because of this.
In a little village near a friends house, they built a pavillion as a place to hang out, since it is very rural and there is not much to do. It was burned it down soon after and now there is no place to hang out.
Community gardens get this. I can understand stealing tools, or if something is ripe stealing some fruits/veggies. But why destroy the place? You're shooting your own foot. Not only can you not steal new food later on, you might get an barren lot of land to look at instead of a green garden.
I'd rather have my property stolen, than vandalised because at least someone profitied from it. We have plenty enshittification from greedy corps and governments. Please lets not do it to ourselves as well.
Petty theft
This is something that happened to my brother and he takes it quite chill, but it boils my blood whenever I hear the story.
Years ago he worked in a very remote place without the option to easily buy stuff. Lunch was offered by company, but not any snacks or drinks. So he made a little inofficial shop. He didn't make any money, he sold at cost using the honor system. Often it was even cheaper than what you'd get in the super market since he bought in bulk.
Just a way so you could have the option for an instant meal when you needed to stay longer or a chocolate bar when you fancied something sweet.
And it ran for a few months, but then more and more snacks vanished without payment, and then money was stolen too. This was a remote location where everyone worked for the same company. And yet this didn't stop thieves. And so he stopped doing this and no one got any snacks.
Talk about shitting where you sleep. All of these people had well paying jobs, so they could have easily afforded the expendure. Gah!
If you gotta steal, steal from rich fucks or big stores.
