Hi folks! As some of you may know, Itch.io has effectively banned all NSFW games from their platform, with paid games containing "extreme kinks" like non-con and feral likely going to be wiped outright ('tame' NSFW games are shadowbanned for the time being) - mirroring the Tumblr NSFW purge and the Patreon NSFW restrictions from some years ago! Now, my games fall under the 'extreme kinks' category, and while they are free, I don't expect that distinction to matter for long - in regards to this, I have released a statement in my public Discord server that you can view here in the PNG form!!
Quite serious stuff going down, huh folks?? This is not the first time us NSFW-lover furries are getting squeezed on, but, I feel like itch.io has always seemed like the last place to pull something like that - I think this really exposes how vulnerable our community can actually be if we take it for granted, and I think we all should take this as a massive sign that it is time to treat ourselves seriously and with care! In light of this, I suggest this: if you have anyone in our community whom you harbor one-sided negative feelings towards, please give them some good proactive consideration and try to understand where they're coming from and if it's possible for you to process your feelings so that you are freed from negativity, because I really do think we cannot afford to be too passive nowadays, to let ourselves remain focused on our differences and not actually realize just how really truly united we all are in the face of people from outside-the-community looking to cook folks like us! While this ban isn't directly aimed at 'furries', I don't think it's wise to treat ourselves as 'just collateral damage' here - we furries matter a great deal too, and don't you folks lose track of that!!!!!
Payment processors need to be reminded that they are money changers, not our overlords. Write to your government representative in a calm, respectful but firm manner that this is not acceptable..

Here’s a short script: “Hello, my name is _____, and I would like to file a complaint. I find it troubling that Mastercard is blocking content on (the platforms you use) and making it difficult for me to make legal purchases. I am going to stop using Mastercard if this isn’t rescinded and fixed."
I just hope that the people with the power to do so push back hard on this payment processor crap and get this stuff reversed sooner than later. A cabal of giant corporations should have no right to tell me what I can and can't spend my own gosh darn money on. If it is legal in my country, then I should have the right to purchase it, regardless of what some rich prick in a fancy suit thinks about it.

i've been meaning to do a game that' has sexual themes on it but nothing is explicitly shown so that people are allowed to stream it. But looking at itch io and steam it almost feels like it'll still fall under the category of getting my money taken away from me :(

A temporary solution for anything free at least could be to just upload it to mega or google drive or mediafire (somehow still around!) or something, and post the links on your discord and here.

This "puritan payment processor" stuff has really been ramping up, and pissing more and more people. I can only hope they overreach and get a leash put on them finally. It's pretty demotivating... As for NSFW game stuff, an option could be to release a public SFW version and create some sort of NSFW patch more privately, but that's not always possible depending on mechanics I imagine.

" The Itch.io ban - where do we go from here???? "
Nowhere, sit tight, wait a few days.
" Quite serious stuff going down, huh folks?? "
No. This has been official policy for Paypal for over a decade. And Paypal has been quietly pushing this (mostly unsuccessfully) onto the other payment processors that whole time.
