Regarding e621 Postings...

Posting this here, because the newer things I found tagged under my username on e621 link back to here, so-- I have to assume it's a user here that uploaded them to the site. So hoping maybe they notice this... and/or that anyone else thinking of doing the same will notice this.

So just to clarify my position... I'm not a fan of people resharing my work on image boards like this. And I have never consented to people reposting my art like this without my permission. People have asked me about doing this on my behalf before... usually on FurAffinity... and I've always said no. (But I appreciate the offer? :p And the desire to spread my work, I guess? But this just isn't how I'd prefer that be done.)

I like e621 well enough? It's fine? But like... I don't have an account there. I don't plan (at the moment) on making one either. And even if I did, I'm not sure I'd have any control over editing or removing the content other people have already posted. And that kind of bothers me. I don't like not having control over how my work is presented. (Especially with the increased prevalence of AI tools, that I want to be able to easily opt my work out of, if a site suddenly starts allowing scrappers.) If I wanted my art on e621, then I would be posting it there myself. I've ignored a couple posts there in the past, because it was a commission that it seemed clear the commissioner had posted themselves, so I kind of let it slide, but that was the only reason. Also I know that person, so I could talk to them about it if I needed to. A completely random person that I can't identify in any way from the posting though?? That's... a lot harder to deal with. I don't have anyone I can contact to go "Heeeyy-- maybe take that down? Or at least don't do it anymore? I'd appreciate it."

So... yeeeeaaahhh......
It's not the end of the world or anything. I don't want to complain about it... and I appreciate that it is at least tagged with my name and links back to where the image was found, so people can find my gallery and more of my art. But that's just not enough to justify doing it without asking, I think? Part of it is also just the selfishness of... like... there are comments on the art posted to e621. And I didn't know about those. I'd have liked to have seen and responded to them as they happened-- comments are really important to me. But I don't have an account, so I didn't know then and I can't reply now.

I'm gonna start rambling if I don't stop, so just-- yeah. That was the jist of things. Please don't repost my work to other websites without asking me first. Like, pretty much everything I do is already freely available, you can just point people to any one of my galleries. Thanks.

As the artist you can always request one or all of your pictures to be removed, no matter who posted them to e621. You don't even need an account there.

If you don't want any of your pictures posted there ever, you can ask to be put on the DNP (do not post) list, or if you want to keep some type of pictures out, on conditional DNP list where only some pictures are allowed, or where only you can post your own pictures if you ever do make an account there.

Mm-- I might've missed where the tools for doing that are. So maybe I just need to look harder for the info.
For now, I'm probably going to leave it alone for a while... but if it keeps happening, then I guess I'll look into it further. Thanks for the info.

With e621 you can poke em and they'll do a fair job of keeping your works off the site.
But you are right, that doesn't solve the myriad other sites. I hope this journal reduces the incidents but I hope you will not become the kind of person to totally put the kibosh on all creativity because of the slipups of a few slipups. If there's anything I can do that's reasonable in my power to do so to prevent or reduce the chance of that happening, let me know.

I did also kinda assume your commissions were okay for me to place on my own gallary, but if that's not the case, even a little bit, I'll feel no anger or ill will to pop em offline.

I'd have to dig around for the tools to do that, I guess. But I'll look around for it a little harder if it happens again.

I usually don't mind if people put things I made for them in their own galleries. That's fine, yeah. I prefer them having a link back to me and/or the original post? But that's about it? :p It's funny when I find something I drew for someone with more favorites on it than in my own gallery... XD XD But the one or two times that happened, it was either because they did better tagging than me-- or were just more popular, I guess? :p But again, in those cases, I can pretty easily poke a person if I had a problem, cause those instances are usually on gallery sites that I'm already on.
