I meant to post a journal here about this so that other people know, but I kept forgetting. This past weekend, we went to FWA and I was feeling a bit nauseous at first, but I thought it was just my stomach. On Thursday night I started vomiting every few hours until my stomach was totally empty. I couldn't even keep water down. I was getting dehydrated, achey, and dizzy, which only made have to vomit more. It kept happening through the night and into the morning. After trying a bunch of different remedies, Tavi called the medical response staff and they came in and suggested we call for an ambulance. I didn't want to, because I didn't want to spend the entire con in the hospital, but relented since I also didn't want to spend the entire con vomiting in the hotel room. So they get me and take me there, and I find out I was suffering diabetic ketoacidosis shock and could have died if not taken to the hospital in time. Tavi saved my life, again, and I'll never forget that. After putting me on an insulin drip, they start getting my blood sugar down to a safer level and I can finally drink some water and keep it down. Things slowly get better and I can eat most of my hospital meals without issue. My appetite returns, but my blood sugar still remains high, so they keep me for a while and talk to my doctor about things. After moving out of the ICU and into a regular room that looked like it hadn't been renovated since the 90s, I had a panic attack and couldn't sleep. Tavi cuddled with me and helped ease my mind.
During all this, a tree fell on our house during a very rainy weekend, and that really set off my anxiety. Our two other housemates go home on Monday to see about that, and luckily repairs started that very day, but are still ongoing. They let me out on Tuesday and we went home. I've been resting up, trying to get back into doing things I usually do, but it's been slow going. This means I haven't been able to write for a while, and as a result I've paused commissions. I'll get to the ones I have agreed to in time, but will be slower than usual since I have to stop and rest every now and then. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I hope you understand.
