I kinda hated that adapter, but it was part of what seems to be a cycle. We had a few mostly standardized cords for electronics, then when phones came out, everyone had their own adapter, then things started standardizing again, but then Microsoft came out with that thing, now everything is standardizing to USB-C, even some laptops, so I guess we just have to see what happens from here, unless wireless actually advances to the point that we don't have to worry about it
