On butts vs anus? As in the butt with no anus vs the anus being shown? Sometimes I just love the way a butt looks when the anus isn't shown, somehow makes it look so much more squeezable. Don't get me wrong I love a good hole, but I find myself drifting to cheeks only at times. Especially with a good backsack going on.

Reason for the topic? I've been playing the new monster hunter and my palico is gonna end up drawn in my gallery if he doesn't stop being so cute. (Kidding, he's gonna end up in my gallery anyways. :3)

It depends on my mood at the time, and how the hole is drawn. But (heh) the butt is the most important part. Well, okay the backsack is pretty important too. Hmmm...

In some cases it's kinda weird when some people try to forcefully include an anus by bulging it out n such while it shouldn't realistically be visible at all

Yesssssss, sometimes I'll handwave it cause it's tasteful but other times I'm like "Those cheeks ain't spreading in that position unless it's magic". xD

Sometime's it's okay to just have the butt on it's own.

It depends for me. One hole I personally don't really like are the ones that people refer to "donut holes". Where the hole is clearly bulging out of the colon. I prefer the ones that feel natural and are drawn without the bulging and "donut" shape. Not sure if I explain what I mean well though.

I think working with the context is probably the most important thing, but absent any context or otherwise given the choice, I'm definitely a hole guy! Especially if it looks like it's seen some abuse! But there are cute things you can do with cheeks too, like having them peek out of the pants or putting smack/claw/bite marks on 'em~

There's a whole spectrum between a blank space and a doughnut monster which devours careless passers by. If the pose is such it should be there I prefer seeing something not in extremes.

I love when the anus is shown, specially causally or accidentally, naturally. Love when genitals are drawn naturally exposed, without being the focus, that includes buttholes!

I love both honestly, and I definitely love a good backsack! *giggles* But for butts I do prefer it to look natural most of all. If the hole wouldn't be visible from a certain angle then it shouldn't just be arbitrarily placed on there in my opinion. As you said, if the cheeks don't spread that way without some kind of manipulation and it's not an angle it would normally be visible from, then it probably shouldn't be there. X3

I love buttholes and I love cheeks
Honestly it comes down to position. If a character is in a position where the anus shouldn't realistically be visible, and yet the anatomy is subtly distorted to MAKE it visible, that instantly ruins the whole piece for me. And vice versa.
