Where do you store your files online?

What's the best place for storing files online nowadays?  Preferably free, preferably with a company based someplace outside the USA where there are no laws against cartoon furry porn featuring cubs and teens.

There are a million sites out there that offer free online file storage, and I plan to do some research to see which one is the best.  In the meantime I'm curious to know if any of you have a recommendation.

Thanks!

I host my own private Nextcloud server.

Gobs of space since it's my server, no fees, replaced Google docs, password manager, notes, task lists, syncs my mobile devices, laptop and desktop, and much more.

Couldn't live without it.

No idea of you have means to host your own, but it's well with the trouble

Hmm.  It looks like NextCloud offers free cloud storage too.  I'll give that a try!  I just have to make sure it will work through my VPN.

get a flash drive or a hard disk and make more than one.
Over my time, I learned to not trust any cloud or service not in my hands (40+ years)

I'm on the same page with you on that.

That's a good suggestion, but I would rather not have everything on some piece of equipment in my house.  We get some really bad weather here once in a while and I could easily see a flash drive or an external drive getting lost in a tornado or soaked in a flood.

And yes, it's a good idea not to trust a cloud service.  If I go that route, I'll save everything in two or three separate places.

yeah. what I meant in having a flash drive as a back up. Keep in a ziplock to fight off moisture even XD

Hmm yeah that would be one backup.  A little flash drive in a ziploc bag that goes in my luggage when we get an evacuation notice.

It would also help to have second backup in a ziploc bag, in a waterproof case, in a safe, bolted to the concrete floor.

And a third one in the cloud.  Whatever happens, one of those three should survive.
