Terrible news everyone.
Our dachshund mix, Maxie, passed away last night. It’s hard to believe that the dog my family had for over half of my life up to this point is gone. She was at least 16 years old when she passed. Even we don’t know exactly how old she was.
She originally showed up on my aunt and uncle’s property in January 2011. When she had chewed up my uncle’s newspaper, and my uncle was threatening to leave her in the middle of nowhere, my family took her in.
She was a slightly unusual dog. She was highly submissive, didn’t know how to play, and she chewed up every piece of paper she could find those first few years. But she was without a doubt one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever known.
Rest in Peace, Maxie. Circa 2008-2024.
