My Twitter got hacked

My twitter/x account cbincbush just got hacked. For some reason it can go through my f2a. I'm gonna reinstall my pc tomorrow. Not sure how much they got my info. If anyone have advise about this it would be really helpful.

Luckily it didn't change my password. Idk why. Maybe it confident it can come back later???

If you see me sending scam links please notify me so I can do something about it.

First thing you should do is change your password.  If it's only your Twitter/X account it could be specific to that website.

Secondly, if you don't have a good ad-blocker installed on your browser, get one.  Something that often gets ignored because of all the "ur a thief if you use ad blocker hurr durr" rhetoric is that they prevent malicious code that's hidden inside ads from downloading itself onto your computer to be installed later.  That's what originally got me to use them: a rogue "antivirus" program called "VirusDoctor" installed itself on my PC while I was browsing DeviantART.  Did a "scan" and told me I had about a thousand viruses on my computer, but that I needed the "premium" version to be able to actually get rid of them.  Similar to ransomware, wanting my financial information so its makers could steal from me.  It even took over control of my PC so I couldn't shut it off, couldn't close out the window, etc.

Took me almost a week to figure out what was even going on, and another two weeks after that to find out where it was coming from.  I still have nightmares sometimes about malicious programs taking over my PC because of what VirusDoctor did.

Beyond that, I don't know what other advice to give.  I hope you get things sorted out though.

I did change it but idk if it's safe now or not. I did use malwarebyte now. After scan with it there's like years old stuffs that could be virus...? So the program isn't helpful much.

I had to stop using Malwarebytes not long ago after they stopped providing definitions to the version I used (the 2.0 and above had a confusing UI that I never got used to, so I kept sticking with 1.75 I think), so I can't really say anything to that.

...And I just read your comments in another reply to someone else about Discord.  Well, I guess that shuts down the "it's only Twitter/X" idea I had.  But, given all that, I agree it's probably on your computer itself.  Best wishes to you in getting everything reinstalled properly.

Will reiterate what was said about changing your password. Preferably from another system.
Then logout.
This will invalidate your 'session token', which is likely how they got past your 2FA.

You could use like an Authenticator app to keep it from being hacked and use your fingerprint (mobile device)

My twitter already have google authenticator. I have no idea about fingerprint feature. Would it protect pc version too?
