For the past two months or so I've been practicing and experimenting different ways to draw. Nothing complex or groundbreaking. What's groundbreaking though is I realized how you're supposed to practice : Focus on one thing
I've been focusing on lineart and it paid off. I didn't become the next Da Vinci but I've unchained myself from the linetool. I still use the linetool, but once the base for the lineart is complete, I'm capable to rasterize everything and refine the lineart manually to make it look good. I went from taking 2-3 hours drawing the lineart, to about an hour. Drawing has become fun and no longer tedious, and in fact I have 6 linearts done in reserve for the past month, a farcry from my personal best of one drawing a month
I also practiced sketching, not to the same extent as for the lineart but I found ways to make it less of a pain to figure out how parts should roughly look like using multiple references and other simple techniques
Coloring is still another beast on its own and is another step of drawing I need to figure out. The truth is I've been having so much fun drawing linearts that I kind of don't want to color anymore since that part still scares me a lot. I did practice coloring on one drawing specifically and it's looking promising
There should be a lot more activity and art in the near future. Games are still sadly a lot more fun to spend time on than drawing, but with some motivation it should be relatively easy to have a drawing a week especially if I keep the coloring phase simple
