Urgent for All to Read

As you may or may not know, FurAffinity has been hacked and is currently redirecting to a queerphobic trolling board that posts a lot of libel about furs for "lulz" or whatever. It's a very unfortnate situation. But there's something very urgent that you need to do.

There is a very real chance that the person currently hacking FurAffinity has access to all of the passwords on that website in plaintext. They're claiming to, at least. The possibility is quite real, as the hacker seems to have access to Dragoneer's email account and as such could feasibly get into FA's Admin CP by resetting Dragoneer's FA password and then download things.

Anyway: if you have an FA account, and you used that password on any other website: it's best to assume that the password is compromised. Change your password on any websites that use your FA password. There's a significant chance that there will be a furaffinity password leak dropped at some point soon, and the first thing people will do is look to see if those username/email/password combos work on other websites.

You should NEVER re-use passwords by the by. Use a password manager to take care of it for you. I like KeePassXC myself. It creates encrypted local files. You can store them in your cloud storage and use them on your phone, too. On Android I open up the same file with KeePassDX. You can even store 2FA codes in there if you want. If you want an easier option, try 1Password.

Does that mean my IB account will get hacked as well if i get the same password?

If you use the same password it could happen if the FA passwords were to be posted online.

For all we know...If the hackers already got account passwords on FA, nothing stops them from deleting account after account after account...including accounts that's been around for 15 years or more >poof< gone.

FA also relies on advertising for the income to keep the site going.  Question is, do the sponsors who advertise pay during the time the site is down?

As far as keeping a record of my passwords...I don't keep them in places like Cloudfare. I keep then where they can't possibly get hacked. Those are written down in a pocket size notebook that stays in the briefcase I carry my laptop in.

It's certainly looking less than stellar for them for the moment.

I'm glad I made the move to Inkbunny years ago. It's quite a rock solid site. Not much in the way of site-wide drama like FA seems to have every year or so.
