I just received word of dragoneer's death a few moments ago. Holy shit, this hits hard!
Him and I have had a tumultuous relationship over the years, to the point where it was literally eating my life up. Somehow, we managed to patch things up in the end:
Let's call a spade a spade: I would not be a thriving member of FA without him. Major loss.
My beef with him started long before he acquired FA, and I thought FA would help him grow up and be responsible for things. Instead, he had been nothing but a nightmare for many, and is one of the key reasons behind many who cane to IB.
He never apologised for harassing an autistic fur, for being autistic, whom I defended. That was about 20 years ago.

That is one of the reasons I'm here, on IB, and even though I still have an account on FA, I'm technically not active there, for that very reason: my health (and sanity).
This, of course, begs the question: What's going to happen at/to FA, now that he's gone?

Likely the current leadership will try to take it on, as well as doing what they do already. Like IB, it's not just the person at the front doing all the work (although we could probably do with spreading it out a little more).

I do remember he bought back FA not too long ago. Makes you wonder if they'll put me in charge now. Yeah that's a stretch, but considering how much mental anguish he caused me over the years....

Heh.... He caused enough crap to enough furs over the years.... But chances are, the next owner/admin will mostly be just a nuts-and-bolts administrator, until something happens.

I would assume CooperTom will take the reins. I made sure to hug him again at Anthrocon last month. He posts all of FA's official journals (as Fender).

Too soon, and judging by his recent Twitter posts not a good way to go. We had a few disagreements but I can appreciate all too well some of the issues he faced. Hope his friends and family are OK.

I remember when I first registered to FA under my first Pseudonym: BillyTheCat128 and he was one of the first persons to add me (probably over my LavadomeFive days), I still remember that and I really appreciate it. I just wish his friends and family the best. I'm sorry for your loss and I hope he will rest in peace.
