They're just being honest about their opinion of the work. To be frank, if you don't want that for your art, don't submit it to a community imageboard (or submit a takedown request). They're not there to stroke artist's egos, but to identify and publicise the "best" art.

However I feel that most down votes fall on fetish preference. For example, on e6AI, the fetish that gets down voted the most in my work is hyper muscle. It has nothing to do with the quality of the work, it's just people being dicks. Also, comparing people's art as "better" than other people's art is rude. With actual human-made artwork, some people put a lot of effort into artwork that might be seen as "inferior" to more "talented" artists.

People should be more focused on building each other up instead of tearing each other down. Just existing in the first place is hard enough, but to get so much resistance from fellow beings just makes things worse. If someone doesn't have anything nice to say, they should just walk away without saying, or doing, anything. We've got enough problems facing the world without turning on our own kind.
