About Pixiv Fanbox

Hello everyone.

Recently Pixiv posted an announcement saying they will update their terms of service. Here is the announcement: https://www.pixiv.net/info.php?id=8788

Supposedly this means that they could ban my account for posting cub, loli and shota there. I'm not 100% certain of this, but even if that's the case, there's an easy workaround for artists that use Fanbox:

Just don't post your cub/loli/shota art there. Easy fix right? Your fans can still subscribe to you and reach your work through exclusive chats. I use an exclusive Discord for example. In fact, many artists never post on Fanbox at all. The platform doesn't demand you post on it in order to be succesful if you don't want to.

Either way, I'm not worried about this update, nor do I think it's even going to be that impactful. It certainly won't impact my Fanbox at all.

Speaking of which, consider joining my Fanbox! :p

No offance, but Aren't you supposed to leave fanbox or?

No need. If they don't allow you to post certain things then just don't post it.

The rule makes mention of kemoshota or basically anthropomorphic animals? This makes me think it may not affect drawings of cartoon animals but I may be wrong

That was my first instinct as well. It's best to wait and see.

that's a good point
only hope they not extend that rule to pixiv, or that good platform will dye for cub loli :/

It’s a shitty situation, but at least they’re warning everyone to private their cub/loli-sho porn a month in advance.

Ok from what i seen it seems the rules are not for fictional things they are for the faceswap and ai art of real things but until they explain what is actual being banned is better to have alternatives

I was able to read the terms after waiting for the page to load (Feels like the website is under DDoS attack as a result of this)
and they clearly mention criminal activities along with consent, so there is a very good chance that only refers to actual child porn/beastiality material, which yes, get rid of that stuff please. Fictional stuff should logically and hopefully be exempt

It makes the most sense as well. It's possible Fanbox did not even mention this until now. Very often 3D content is illegal in many countries. Maybe that would be one of them.

Pixiv has been a toilet for ages now. a couple years ago they started forcibly censoring all pics on the site so this is just another low stoop from an already low-down second-rate website

Well yeah. As annoying as it is, it is a law in Japan to have the art censored. Not really the fault of Pixiv here
BogdanUrs

well if it's Japan law then that's not Pixiv's fault lol

but what they're doing now, this *is* their fault because they chose to cave instead of just saying "fuck you all" and doing their own thing. they chose money over freedom

From what I have gathered, the rules made aim towards real humans and animals, not so much about animu styles of art. It seems to be a response to AI generated art, where people would generate porn of children using real children as assets, and that's kind of understandable to not want that kind of stuff on your website

AI generated art is creeping me out. Best to crack down on those appropriately yes.

Another one bites the dust.

It seems to me it is only in effect to people making money off it. Their normal site still allows it.
Polygon5

Yes. This update is strictly for Fanbox when offering art or other product as a transaction.

Pixiv of all places is banning loli/shota/cub now?! Wow...just wow...
The world really is becoming way too puritan for its own good isn't it?

Just Fanbox, it seems. The rest of Pixiv should still allow loli/shota/cub, I hope. Most likely all the credit card companies forced their hand.

This is what happens when there's an oligopoly on credit/debit services, and they all make policies in tandem with each other.

no, it is Pixiv AND fanbox. because both count to the same site. fanbox is owned by Pixiv and therefore has the mainpage to abide to the new ToS aswell.

They are definitely connected. But the terms seem to mention product as a result of a transaction. In addition it doesn't specify what sort of product. So to me it reads as drawings not being affected by this and certainly not the main Pixiv website.

The ToS specifically states it's just Fanbox and Boost (their in-site commissioning system), because those accept payment.
So you're both technically correct.

and there goes Pixiv aswell.
this will sooner or later affect everything because mastercard is huge.

Best to wait and see. This change goes in effect in the second week of December.

Is your older Patreon stuff on your fanbox?
Polygon5

Not at the moment no. They were the unfinished versions of the first comic I did so I didn't put a lot of importance into uploading them again.
