Fursuiter fights Starbucks and wins

Check this out.

Union busting is fucked up. Amazon, for instance, would rather pay union busting moles $400 per hour than raise pay for workers and improve working conditions.

So Apollo was illegally fired from Starbucks for his part in the unionizing efforts, and then his store won their union vote unanimously. He then went in fursuit to help organize Starbucks workers in Seattle. I'm loving this!

Nice Nice! But, me being an old school fursuiter I,  Me, Him does not really consider that a real fursuit. A fursuit in my opinion has to be totally enclosed. Like my torture devises that I have had for 20+ years or so. Partial "fursuits" are NOT real fursuits. But good on the partial fursuiter at Starbucks.

Well I do prefer full ones of course, but partials are still suits. Even if I didn't consider them actual fursuits, it would still be odd for me to title it "Partial fursuiter fights Starbucks and wins."

If I had a fursuit, that wouldn't work for me - because mine would absolutely look 'violent and threatening'....like the kind of thing you wouldn't want to run into in a dark alley while even the slightest bit drunk or under the influence.

If you had a fursuit, I would demand pics.

If I had a fursuit, you wouldn't need pics, because I'd probably be on YT.

As both a Texan and a media enthusiast, I'm usually against unions, but I do agree that firing this dude over it was scummy and I'm glad he's making a positive change.

Agree or disagree, the government certainly isn't going to do anything to improve conditions and pay, and that would be the only alternative to keep powerful corporations in check. Doesn't matter which of the two parties are in charge at the time. Corporations spend fuck-tons of money busting unions, breaking existing laws without consequence, all so they can skimp on safety and decent pay for what amounts to pocket change in profit. Activision famously boasted record profits, then turned right around and began mass-layoffs so they could artificially boost those numbers even more. Firing people for trying to organize happens all the time, as well as closing stores and actively and blatantly intimidating workers into choosing to remain unrepresented. but workers have a lot more leverage to fight against this kind of thing when they're part of a union. In some countries, there is no minimum wage mandated at all, and still workers are paid very well due to strong pro-union policies.

edit: I'm a Texan too, and I'm tired of not being able to spend time with my friends because they don't have any time off and are forced to work 10, 12 hours a day. My cousin got fired because she was asked to come into work on a day she wasn't scheduled and they didn't want to give her any time to find a babysitter before coming in.

Yeah, I realize that a lot of major corporations suck and workers deserve some amount of protection. But I'm also somewhat cynical and realize that unions aren't perfect. Even outside of the entertainment industry (which have lead to non-union film crews being harassed and voice acting roles being unnecessarily recast), I remember hearing about people getting laid off because their union tried to negotiate pay increases (I tried Googling it and can't find the news story again; if I eventually do find it, I'll edit this reply).

But like you said, agree to disagree.

On the union workers getting laid off because union tried to negotiate pay increases, doesn't seem to me that's a problem with the union. Also seems retaliatory, which I think would be illegal if they could prove it.

I wonder if he has an account on this site.

I've been in a union before, and having been the union rep my workplace at the time... Eh, I wouldn't bother joining a union again, but I support people's right to join one.

You also don't live in the US. Corporations are so powerful and so abusive here that unions are pretty much essential as long as the government doesn't step in, and they're getting fuck-tons of cash from these corporations so that's not likely.
