Christmas Wishes & Spoilers...

Seems to be the place to wish everybody a Happy Christmas (or whatever). I had hoped to do a Christmas drawing at some point but didn't - haven't quite been inspired to draw much recently (although there is a piece in the pipeline which some of you will know about) so didn't manage - mind you, it's only 5am here and I've drawn the short straw and have a 12-hour shift at work today, so I might be able to throw something out.

So, to make up for it here's a bit of a spoiler for those who are interested in my characters enough to care.

Today in seven years time, Christmas Day 2028, shortly after Christmas Dinner has been eaten, the King's Speech has been watched (because, realistically, will Liz II still be alive then?), and the Reynolds family (and a few hangers-on) are chilling out together in the sett, Rachel stand up out of her chair, walks over to where Ellie is sitting, gets on one knee and asks: "Elaine Reynolds - will you marry me?"

Ellie is momentarily stunned. Partially because she had been trying – and failing – to figure out how to ask the same question herself for a while now. She looks around the room, seeing how her family are reacting to Rachel's proposal. Most are grinning with happiness, it being pretty evident that this question would be asked by one of them at some point. Ellie takes a sip of her tea and places the mug back on the table, shrugs, and with as little emotion as she can says, "Yeah, okay then."

Rachel is slightly knocked sideways by Ellie's nonchalance, before she is physically knocked down as Ellie suddenly pounces on her now-fiancée and embraces her to the sound of cheers from those around.

"Saves me having to ask!" Ellie whispers into Rachel's ear, before pecking her on the cheek. They would do more than just kiss, but don't even have to think to realise that in the living room on Christmas Day in front of the family is neither the time nor the place. That will come later.
