Proving That Inkbunny Is Better Than FurAffinity With A Single Image.

As many of you are aware, I left FurAffinity a while ago due to, shall we say, ideological reasons.

And by 'ideological reasons', I mean that their staff is a bunch of petty, lazy, vindictive whiners, lorded over by a Barney-esque purple dinosaur more concerned with perception than reality. Sorry to sound bitter, but how many times do I have to have my art taken down for AUP violations which only exist in an admin's capricious, airy mind, and nowhere in their written rules, before I become a wee bit irritated? Especially after learning that FA keeps no backups! So if a bovine-skulled staff member deletes something of yours, both the submission and its comments are gone forever! And if it turns out they were in the wrong? OH WELL! Yeah, that's a real swell way to run a website. I ran from that place like fleeing an airtight Volkswagen filled with morbidly obese sauerkraut and egg-salad fanciers.

That's enough bile-venting, I think. Let's get to the meat of the matter.

Here's why Inkbunny is unarguably, unequivocally, now-and-forevermore, better than FA:
CLICK DIS SHIT HERE Y'ALL

This happened to me a few days ago. It speaks for itself. The contrast is monumental. To say that my reaction was one of disbelieving wonderment, as if waking one misty morn to discover a unicorn frolicking in my backyard, would be an understatement.

bingo =p they wroked with you and even if the submission HAD been disallowed you could still link to it.
AlexReynard
6 years, 6 months ago
I think the biggest thing was that they locked the submission. They didn't delete it. Which means the staff here had the foresight to realize that they might potentially be wrong about things sometimes and need to reverse their decisions. That humility and thoughtfulness is the hugest reason IB's better.
KevinSnowpaw
6 years, 6 months ago
nothing is ever truly deleted on IB simply locked unless it's someting very serius in wich case it might be purged to protect the site from legal reprisal.
AlexReynard
6 years, 6 months ago
Perfectly understandable. It still boggles my mind to think of when that FA admin told me they didn't keep backups, so boo hoo if anything gets deleted.

Yeah, it also gives the opportunity for a borderline image to be replaced with a more appropriate version without losing all those tasty, tasty comments and favorites.

>Yeah, it also gives the opportunity for a borderline image to be replaced with a more appropriate version without losing all those tasty, tasty comments and favorites.

Which is smart. Users who are treated like people and not criminals will react like people and not criminals. I tried to tell FA staff a lot of times that I'd be way, way less pissed off about them citing me for AUP violations if I were given some chance to appeal or remove/change the submission myself. I wanted it to be like two adults discussing how best to resolve a problem, not an omnipotent mommy chastising a powerless child.

'Xactly! And that ultimately lowers the stress of the moderating staff by a metric assload. More avenues of correcting an issue mean less potential flailing and hurt feelings from the users means easier times for all.

Granted, there are some people for whom the only explanation they will accept is 'because I said so', but they are the vast minority.

>And that ultimately lowers the stress of the moderating staff by a metric assload. More avenues of correcting an issue mean less potential flailing and hurt feelings from the users means easier times for all.

It's almost painful to hear you say that, in light of me being told directly by an FA admin that he didn't bother giving people a chance to contest a submission removal because he didn't feel like dealing with their 'whining' over it. He was completely unable to grasp that his attitude was CAUSING that!

>Granted, there are some people for whom the only explanation they will accept is 'because I said so', but they are the vast minority.

True. And I think the fact that I haven't had to use my block list here, not even once, proves that.

What I'm saying is that the FA admins are like children playing in a clubhouse (sandbox),
not mature enough to run the site properly.
And because of this the quality has suffered (catshit) and the people who are still there tolerate it.

In other words FA is not a bad place, it just has bad leadership.
(this the only site i'll talk bout it on)

Ah. Gotcha loud and clear. I wasn't sure whether you were referring to FA or IB as the catbox at first.

I completely agree! It's a night and day difference between Inkbunny and FA. It's so easy to communicate with the admins here it's like I have their phone numbers and can call them anytime! And they're quick, too. They'll get back to you in a few days, whereas on FA it'd be more like a few months, if at all.

The problem with FA is that it is not a community art site anymore.  It is the personal, private art gallery of the administration and their AUP and TOS are nothing more than a loose set of informal guidelines open to the liberal interpretation and personal whim of each individual admin.
AlexReynard
6 years, 6 months ago
Sounds about right. Inkbunny seems set up from a place of selflessness; concern for what the users want. At FA, it's Dragoneer's party and you'll goddamn well party like Dragoneer wants you to party.
RedReynart
6 years, 6 months ago
I think that every user should follow the set rules. Its what keeps other things from turning a furry site into an anime site, a human site, a site about trees. You get the idea. If something is found questionable the questionable item should be removed from public veiw by a moderator and that moderator should have some sort of drop down check list of what it violates. This should then pend a reveiw from an admin. While this is pending an auto matic letter should be in the inbox of the user made but the mods drop down list, that lists the reason for the submissions removal and have an option to appeal.

If found wrong then the submission is deleted, if found inocent, it should then be restored and then flaged in the mods check box that that option has already been appealed. Because if one mod sees something and thinks its wrong then who is to say another wont?

:P That is how I would have the system. Lucky that inkbunny does have a "hide me" when moderating.

FA has lost points for me too due to their admins. They just throw their weight around without question, it seems.

I'm currently in the center of a fort-night suspension for something stupid. I didn't get a warning or anything. Just woke up and suspended. I did get a "This is your only warning." It was my first offense. Seems rather rash for a first offense. I wasn't trolling or arguing, just having a dark conversation on a journal of mine.
AlexReynard
6 years, 6 months ago
By chance I happened to see that journal and... yeah. 'Dark' is an understatement. I am pretty sure there is something in the written rules against having those kinds of conversations.

However, it's still petty and lazy to suspend someone for that long over a first offense. I would've just asked you to take it down.
Fenril
6 years, 6 months ago
Hee hee. Even you thought it was too dark? Wow, that's a bit surprising... ironic. I wasn't out to offend anyone and I still fail to see the problem, but I suppose I never will. Of all the fetishes; I took it too far? That's just silly. Oh well, it's perfectly legal!
AlexReynard
6 years, 6 months ago
Sorry; got wrapped up in journals and thought I'd already responded.

>Hee hee. Even you thought it was too dark? Wow, that's a bit surprising... ironic. I wasn't out to offend anyone and I still fail to see the problem, but I suppose I never will. Of all the fetishes; I took it too far? That's just silly. Oh well, it's perfectly legal!

Legality is moot. People are naturally more uncomfortable about someone's fetish when they find out it goes beyond fantasy. I am perfectly fine with you commissioning, drawing, writing about, or fapping to the idea of furries getting splatted into red goo under big sexy footpaws. But I felt a wave of revulsion when you said you kill squirrels for real. Even if you were just getting off to squished roadkill squirrels, I wouldn't be as disturbed. Because then at least you wouldn't be directly causing death. In fantasy, no one really suffers. In reality, you're taking lives, however small, essentially for entertainment. That's creepy. If you can't at least see how people would feel that way, well, that's kinda creepy too.

I'm not necessarily calling you a horrible person here. Plenty of people enjoy hunting, and I feel exactly the same way about that: I don't do it, but I understand that the urge to kill is in our genes. I don't think your pleasure being sexual in nature makes it any different. It's still killing for pleasure. And if you're going to do that, and admit to it, you simply have to accept that it will turn people off.
Fenril
6 years, 6 months ago
No worries about the late reply. I was camping all weekend anyway.

I know legality is a moot point, but I was mostly joking with that statement anyway. I honestly have no idea past the fact that shooting squirrels is legal here. Just being silly, mostly. I understand why people get offended by what I'm in to. I was just pointing out how dumb people can be. You can do this, this and this, but if you do this alongside that, it's taboo.

I do accept the fact that it repulses people and to be honest, I like that fact. To your "It's fantasy but when you take it to reality it's wrong" point... well, we're talking about FA ultimately and didn't they make a whole lot of people migrate here due to punishing the ones that liked a certain pedo genre that was fantasy? At least I don't recall people uploading real pedo stuff on FA. I mean it's fantasy and was still wrong. Where does the madness end!
AlexReynard

Yes... and they were wrong to do that. I'm not seeing how that relates to your fetish, which isn't just fantasy. I'm confused here.

Fenril
6 years, 6 months ago
I was just saying that no matter what your fetish people will never be accepting. That's all. Sorry for the confusion.
AlexReynard
6 years, 6 months ago
That may be kinda true. Still though, I make the point that what you said was already in the written FA rules as being a no-no. I would routinely throw tantrums when they 'punished' me for things that weren't in their rules, but I stayed quiet and accepted it when they could point to a rule I'd broken, whether I agreed with the rule or not.

Kinda like, if I go over to a friend's house and he insists on me taking my shoes off when I enter, I may think that's a little silly, but I'll do it because it's his house. Now, if he suddenly gets pissed at me for not taking off my socks too, even though he never told me to, then I will put up a fuss.
Fenril
6 years, 6 months ago
I knew what you meant though. It didn't really make a difference to me if I got suspended. FA's just a repository for me. I didn't even question them since I have never really read the terms. I don't blame them, I just woulda liked a warning.

Although I did ask if I could re-post the journal since there was nothing wrong with it about 2 weeks ago with no reply. Oh well, what can a squirrel do?
AlexReynard
6 years, 6 months ago
I have to admit, as much as your fetish kinda makes me skittish, whenever I come across a kink I don't understand, I want to. Could you describe a bit of why you're a 'squirrel serial killer'? Especially the emotions you get from it. You can be vague on details if you're worried IB might kick you too. But they're not likely to notice this conversation, and I certainly won't report you; you have my word.
Fenril
6 years, 6 months ago
Why? I think that's a question you gotta take up with whichever God you think made us. I have no idea why I'm the way I am. I just go with the flow when it comes to my sexuality. I've been into the things I'm into since I can remember. They've changed or "grown" a little over the years, but still mostly the same.

When I was talking in that journal I was speaking hypothetically. I've never touched a real squirrel before and I'm only now getting things together so that I can hunt them. The idea though does turn me on quite a bit. I just used the term "squirrel serial killer" because it best describes my love for them. I would want to be in total control. It occurred to me one night while I was watching the series Redwall. I thought to myself; if I existed in their world I'd most likely be one of the bad guys, or at least a shadowy figure. All these incredibly sexy rodents walking around barefoot. If I had this lust for them and they were real like that? I'd go crazy. The emotions I'd get from it all? Happiness? Shame. Anger, due to feeling ripped off in this life. Mostly happiness. I'd probably feel a bit of remorse, but I figure they're just animals. I mean, most people kill a few in their lifetime, ironically in the way I talked about loving so much in that journal. =)

I know what FA had a problem with in that journal, so I know what to avoid here hopefully. Also, hope I didn't just confuse you more with all this.
AlexReynard
6 years, 5 months ago
No, you painted a pretty good picture there. It's... a little troubling though. I'm not the sort of person who thinks that what a person faps to is reflective of their overall mental state. But the fact that you want to take it into reality, and the emotions you described going along with it... I am being completely honest here: this sounds like the early symptoms of a serious personality disorder.

I'm not saying I think you're a sick fuck, or that I'm disgusted, or that you're a bad person, or anything at all like that. Heck, I like you and I like your art ideas. I am saying this out of concern. Because I've read psychology textbooks and I've studied how fetishes work a lot. This is not about your fetishes, but how you want to express them. The very specific combination of things you just described makes me think you might want to talk to someone about why you have these kinds of feelings. To give you an example; I would never dream of calling out someone who had rape or snuff or pedo fantasies, unless I saw signs that their fantasies were expressing deeper issues. This part: "Happiness? Shame. Anger, due to feeling ripped off in this life. Mostly happiness. I'd probably feel a bit of remorse, but I figure they're just animals." is what really set my alarms off.

I kinda figured you were curious because you wanted to psychoanalyze me, that's why I pretty much tried to be a honest as possible. I'd like to know what psychology thinks of my problems. I'm curious to know your responses.

Don't worry, I understand where you're coming from. Been in and out of therapy a few times. All you had to do was ask though. I, of course have a severe personality disorder; I'm half blind, covered in plaque psoriasis, moderate to severe OCD and a spastic colon. Can't work or see for shit. 30 years of being blind and 15 years of the other diseases tears a man down on the inside when you grow up around physically normal people that intentionally ruin their lives/complain about inane things I WISH was my biggest problem... I'm lucky I haven't taken a 130 grain dose of lead to my brain. Art and weed keep me going though.

You like my ideas? Sorry, compliments don't really compute with me. Thank you though, I appreciate that.

As far as talking to someone, I've done that quite a bit in the past and I don't see how talking about it would change anything.  I've been into the things I'm into since I was a kid, since I could remember. I can remember something like when I was 10 years old I would sit on the side of the road and watch roadkill get run over(close enough to get blood on me). I had no idea why I liked it, but it made me feel funny and good so I went with it. I can't for the life of me figure out what underlying problems it could be. My childhood wasn't a bad one. Quite the opposite, really. Full of cartoons, video games and movies.

>I kinda figured you were curious because you wanted to psychoanalyze me, that's why I pretty much tried to be a honest as possible.

That's a relief! I'm definitely the same, but I know some people get defensive about fetishes (Understandably so, sometimes). So I'm sorry if I seemed really overly-cautious. I was trying to be as gentle as possible, since we don't know each other too well.

>I'd like to know what psychology thinks of my problems. I'm curious to know your responses.

Well, I'd have to know more about you to really say. But it is kinda well-known that a lot of human serial killers start out with little animals. It just kinda raised my alert level.

Also, to be honest, there's an element of 'takes one to know one'. I don't share your same symptoms, but I'm damn sure crazy enough to catch someone else's 'scent'. ;)

>I, of course have a severe personality disorder; I'm half blind, covered in plaque psoriasis, moderate to severe OCD and a spastic colon. EEK. I've never had physical problems to compare to my mental ones, but you definitely have my sympathy.

I admit, this is purely from my personal desire to see less cruelty in the world, but I really wish you'd reconsider hunting. Just because life shat on you, why spread it around? Life's tough enough on all of us, especially the little critters.

That said, I can't think of any objection to doing whatever you can imagine to roadkill. Them little guys ain't feeling pain anymore.

>Thank you though, I appreciate that.

You're very welcome. I especially liked the two pics of Tammy getting squished. :)

>As far as talking to someone, I've done that quite a bit in the past and I don't see how talking about it would change anything.

For me, having to put my inner feelings into words helps to focus them for me. Like, if there's something inside me I'm trying to understand better, describing it to someone else is an excellent way for me to get a better grasp on it. I don't know if you write, but it's also very useful to have a character go through whatever you are. My subconscious seems a lot more willing to release info when it doesn't think I'm talking about me. ;)

>I had no idea why I liked it, but it made me feel funny and good so I went with it. I can't for the life of me figure out what underlying problems it could be.

I wouldn't say that having the fetish is the problem. PLENTY of people have 'funny' childhood experiences that lead to fetishes. The brain will often take a traumatic/fascinating experience and fetishize it to make it less scary. (Hell, one thing that definitely helped my vore fetish along was watching Tales From The Darkside The Movie and feeling strangely envious of the little boy who gets captured to be eaten). The problem isn't the fetish, it's with wanting to involve someone else who isn't into it. In this case, squirrels. Again, purely personal, but I hate to think of any living creature dying for any reason but survival. Life's cruel enough.
