Something something ratings

I've noticed that- The better that I have gotten at art- The less views and faves I'd get. Or any interactions at all really. So I ask now- Why do you hate my content? I have 230+ watchers with an average of 2 faves per post if I'm lucky- So I want to know why that is.

I don't think it has to with hatred, this is a large site. Look at the stats page. Make it easy for people to find your art.

I actually viewed the stats page before making this journal. And that is fair and fine but- I'm pretty sure- At least from my experience of following an active artist, it would show up on my notifications as uploads or such. Which I then usually click through- I assumed that's why people follow/watch me, so they can see mmore but- It seems somehow they just see less.

Like the other user said, certain content is more pouplar than other.

Response to artwork is more relevant to the content and, while affected, less relevant to the talent. For instance, most of my top pictures focus on butts and/or are Sonic art.

I suppose that is fair enough, yeah...

Glancing at your gallery, a lot of your more recent work is black and white line art. While it may be better on a technical level, many people like colour (often eye-searingly saturated colour). Or they may want work which has a very clear focus on a particular sex act (perhaps clearly visible from the thumbnail); or involving particular characters they are a fan of. The latter may also attract a lot of views - and perhaps +favs - over time via search, where non-famous characters may not.

Basically there's lots of reasons, and a lack of a +fav doesn't indicate hate, just "I didn't like it enough to save it specially". They might still have appreciated seeing it.

Hmm... Yeah, suppose that's fair too. For a while it just seemed like sketches were doing better, so I guess a bit of bias formed for not making colors much due to effort vs reward.

Everyone likes a change now and then - maybe those sketches were particular appealing for other reasons, too? Honestly, it's hard to say; even if you ask people why they +fav, they may not know, especially days later. You may be best spending the most time on work that you care about more, since at least then you can derive your own enjoyment from it looking at it later.

I doubt this impacts you much yet as you don't seem have quite enough of a viewership yet, but you may find that at some point coloured work will be more "worth it" because it makes the difference between getting into Popular or not (based on views within the first three days of publication), and that brings a bunch more attention.
