SubscribeStar vs Patreon

Having tried out SubscribeStar for a couple of months now, there are some pretty hindering guidelines for creators that, in hindsight, I should have been aware of.

Notably:
-- You need at least 5 active subscribers to payout.
-- You need to earn a minimum of $150.
-- The 'goals' in SubscribeStar are based on total earnings as opposed to earnings made each month.

These are the two big outliers that, to me, make it a difficult platform to use. In addition to that, it doesn't charge at the same monthly cycle as Patreon which can be a hassle for pledgers as well. I feel like it has it's benefits and it's UI is very streamlined, but I don't know if that outweighs the hassle.

On the other side of things, Patreon is a lot more responsive when it comes to disallowed content. If someone even mentioned the word 'feral' or 'cub' on patreon then it would likely be flagged and removed. Granted, the MAJORITY of the reports to big patreons like Kuroo and other places are usually done by users, so whether it'd be quickly cracked down upon if I was flippant with the content on my patreon remains to be seen.

From the perspective of those who have used Patreon and SubscribeStar before, how do you feel about it?

If push comes to shove I can and possibly might close my subscribestar at a reasonable time and move to patreon instead, which I'm aware is a hassle for people already pledging, so I want it to be as streamlined as possible.

For what I know:
Patreon smites any dubious content, SS is fine with anything that is not a real photo/video
Patreon works with PayPal, SS only directly with cards (AFAIK it is because PayPal also does not like dubious content)
Patreon takes less from small pledges (I suppose it is because they consolidate all pledges in a single payment)
Patreon considers itself a Savior Of All Artists, SS just doing its job

Patreon is somewhat more friendly in terms of convenience, but its zealous censorship makes it a timebomb for any content creator whose stuff is not 100% family-friendly.

I think you've hit the nail on the head with a lot of this. Patreon has a lot of restrictive rules that SS doesn't, but SS doesn't handle itself in the same way and it can cause confusion.

Hard to say when patreon changes their content rules every month. I shouldn't even be posting my vore on there cause it's against TOS now.

what exactly is it's stance on porn though anyways?
I mean you have mentioned they don't like cub and feral stuff but what about in general? (subscribestar I mean)

I'm honestly not sure in terms of SS. I feel like they're a little more lax as long as you aren't openly saying "Oh yeah we're writing about cubs and dogs n' shit."

Their rules are "follow US laws" with a generic set of "no hatred." They have few caveats for depicting real humans, but that's all. As far as I know, they don't care about fictional characters as long as it does not violate anyone's intellectual properties. So they won't even care about cubs and dogs, as long as they are not pokemon.
