i've played all the games to some degree and i love the series but i think the company is falling apart and we've basically lost all chance of successive sequels.

another good thing ruined by the money monsters.

i'm still getting Elsweyr though.

I think everyone's in the same boat though most joined at Skyrim.

I personally think ESO was good but it wasn't like Skyrim and it wasn't meant to be.
SammuWamm
5 years, 8 months ago
that's exact what i say.

TESO was designed very much to be a classic Elder Scrolls style game but in the form of online gaming.

Everybody just wants Skyrim Online. That's not the same thing.
Breddeer
5 years, 8 months ago
Well I hope Elsweyr is going to be more along those lines but they've already said they want graphic over content so I hope they changed their mind on that.
SammuWamm
5 years, 8 months ago
probably not. i expect it to be a completely different kind of game where you're funneled into a story.

might still be good though.
Breddeer
5 years, 8 months ago
no no NO!

it's gotta have the freedom to roam and do what I like when I like or it's just not Elder Scrolls anymore and I don't want to play medieval Gears of War.
SammuWamm

personally i think the later does sound appealing.

still there are other games that can supply the former.
Breddeer
5 years, 8 months ago
well I guess we always have custom.

speaking off how's the Turn-based Albion progress.
SammuWamm
5 years, 8 months ago
not good.

i've pretty much got to start over.
Breddeer
5 years, 8 months ago
holy crap man that sucks.

let's hope you don't abandon it like every other project you have that hits a sppedbump o_0
SammuWamm
5 years, 8 months ago
not abandon completely but maybe a redesign.
Breddeer
5 years, 8 months ago
so where's the new one set?

what are the characters like?

what items did you add/remove?
SammuWamm
5 years, 8 months ago
well i really want to set the game in Grenwuld and that kinda means like we wont have half the same characters you know.

However ironically Shinohashi may appear as a completely different but identical character.

I thought maybe set it out in the mid country of Grenwuld in some town that doesn't yet exist at least as tutorial.

As for items armors follow the basic set and as of the game's creation so do weapon types and materials but i plan to add some new weaponry to spice things up.

also the new stat system is in play which has 4 stats Agility, Strength, Stealth and Awareness.

social aspects are split between Stealth and Awareness, Stealth being deception and Awareness being perception.

for that reason the personality types go as follows Agility is impatient and impulsive, Strength is proud and loud, Stealth is manipulative and charismatic and Awareness is nerdy and nosey.

Learning wont just be through booksmarts so skills will need different stats each time to enhance them, in particular fitness based things are divided into Agilty and/or Strength depending on which makes more sense, factual knowledge will in general fall under Awareness and social skills under Stealth.

None of these are absolute rules so within each category you can make different builds for different stat balances.
Breddeer

1- that stat system makes a lot more sense.
2- shame about the armors. do you intend to add more later or is that just it?
3- ooh. what kind of new weaponry?
4- any ideas for the new town and NPC's? would you like some advice / fans make their own?
5- did you fuck with the combat and survival systems?

yeah i think that's as simple as i can make it.
better to start with the engine build before trying to custom personalities and gear.

" DomTheGoat wrote:
2- shame about the armors. do you intend to add more later or is that just it?

unfortunately no. the armors for every race in the game would add a huge amount of relatively pointless extra data. the armor would have to something so different and spectacular to warrant being replicated hunderds of times over.

" DomTheGoat wrote:
3- ooh. what kind of new weaponry?

Don't quite know just yet but so far since it's the flavor of the year I thought maybe something along the lines of feed powers, traction, stasis, that kind of thing or straight up saf control, void, godkilling and eraser powers.

" DomTheGoat wrote:

i'm still thinking on that at the moment. i need to work out some stuff about the races, plotline, politics, history, etc before i settle on what characters to include. Similar-wise the purpose for the town needs to be thought in.

" DomTheGoat wrote:

good question. short answer is yes but luckily it's in a way that fans will actually like this time. the effects system is going to be a lot more simplistic as well as the swing/stroke/thrust system. this means that weapon designing is going to be much more basic too. i simply can't do the same level of customization in the new software.

counter to that certain other easy to implement modes will be introduced which will make the survival system much easier to use and less stressful. It'll be very similar to old RPM. Ask
MaxwellGalloway
MaxwellGalloway
about that. other weird mechanics are available as long as it doesn't require any visual editing. This includes things like craft farms, scheduled entertainment distribution, lock/free systems and adventure elements, possibly even a dream mode and the death system has had some awesome new revisions. Check out my blog on that.

In fact the lock/free system is going to be more significant as well as multi-layer crafting similar to DSEG400's system. However the socializing system is gonna be more basic. I think you'll like the way the crafting system turned out and I know you're already groaning at the lock/free system coming back but this time it's like the early fan customs rather than the retarchonplex system i used before.

so yeah basically i've been listening to my fans for once. any new ideas i have i'll put through the fanwork wringer before giving them the okay.

should have really started off that way to begin with.
glad we get tailored gear for stat biases and it even tells us the personality of the user.

armor visuals aren't that important anyway. we'll get used to it.

The new saf heavy system for respawn sounds intriguing. Don't think anyone will like their characters getting deleted though. Still that makes those special weapons gold dust.

Farming introduced into this game is weird but makes complete sense. This is something I'll enjoy.

Adventure elements will really make this game have its own identity. This will be a very different Albion.

Scheduled entertainment sounds amazing. Everybody raves about how awesome it was. A game with its own built in Netflix is just wow.

Dream mode and madness mode stuff is the shit. To have that in Albion would be wild.

" SammuWamm wrote:

I still don't think you can make the lock/free system intuitive. it's gonna be a pain in the neck.

Crafting thing sounds good though. I want to see that.

I'm all for interaction and all but in a single player game what's the point? if you intend to use this system as a required mechanic I might just throw my pc at the wall.

yep and that's even a mechanic and everything.

limited visual components so that's a massive maybe no. it's still possible but it would be a mammoth task. leave that up to fan edits. i'm not doing that. it's a waste of resources. But death-play will seriously be a thing.

" DomTheGoat wrote:

seems like it. there's a lot to do and after this set back i just don't have the heart for it right now. things should by all rights pick up in June though.

" DomTheGoat wrote:

not quite that bad but maybe similar to my early combat system for Monster Way.

" DomTheGoat wrote:

The point is though that your character doesn't get deleted. Just loses high-end rare abilities and has a history refresh.

" DomTheGoat wrote:

I've been meaning to do it for years but the sprite count won't let me. No problem with that now. That was the first thing I thought "I have to do this.".

" DomTheGoat wrote:

Code-wise it's probably the easiest of all to implement but it relies on item quantity rather than hundreds of different items. Sorry to bust your bubble.

" DomTheGoat wrote:
Scheduled entertainment sounds amazing. Everybody raves about how awesome it was. A game with its own built in Netflix is just wow.

Well I thought of making a randomly generated show using code. The indexes will be based on the date and a thematic system about the individual shows via criterion. Should be a lot of fun. Don't worry, every user should see the same show play out as each other. Eventually it will run out of phrases and repeat itself but pointless text content is my forte so it's hardly going to turn out like a Tomodachi Life rap battle.

" DomTheGoat wrote:
Dream mode and madness mode stuff is the shit. To have that in Albion would be wild.

It's completely possible but don't expect hundreds of different outcomes. Also there'll be some very very limited 72nd hour gimmicks you can exploit. Yeah and that's gonna be running whilst canon and story characters are walking around and everything.

" DomTheGoat wrote:
I still don't think you can make the lock/free system intuitive. it's gonna be a pain in the neck.

it's gonna be like 3 buttons.

I now realize that towns are best for pointlessly lengthy menu systems.

kinda but it's not going to have the 3 pages full of expressions. simple shit like the topic of the conversation will do just fine.
