Verizon has ruined Tumblr. "We'll have a better, kinder Tumblr," they said. Well, they didn't implement a strong enough algorithm for pr0n, so it's tagging things as explicit that it shouldn't tag. It's tagging Staff's own posts, posts of rocks, stuff they actually said wouldn't count as explicit. Like art and the statue of David. The statue of David has been flagged as explicit!
And it's not even catching the dang bots! They've figured out if they tag their own posts as "SFW" -- Safe For Work -- that they won't get tagged. It's effin' ridiculous! The userbase has been complaining about the amount of bots, child pr0n, Alt-Right, and Anti-semitism for years, and Staff has refused to do anything about it. I've been hit by the Anti-semitism, and I'm not even Jewish. I knew it was bad, but I didn't need an inbox full of real gore to realize it!
So those of us who want to post about sex are being kicked out. One of the artists I follow was joking about her drawings of Obi-wan Kenobi having "female-presenting nipples." That phrase is sexist in itself! Art, something Staff expressly said was fine, is getting flagged as explicit, and it will only get worse from there. They'll be going after stories next. So much for being "for fandoms"!
What are the sex workers supposed to do?! They need a safe place to work and reach out to their peers, too. A place where they can be SAFE and ANONYMOUS and yet still talk about their experiences. Even more than just being about fandoms, Tumblr GAVE them that safe space. How are they to do their chosen vocation now, when there is really no longer a safe space away from those who would abuse and hurt them?
Unfriend me because of my views if you want, but this is all I'm posting about the matter. Still, if you unfriend me, it's probably for the best!
Note: I know Inkbunny is friendlier to cub sex art, and although I still think it's a little eww, it's still loads better than pr0n of actual children. At least I can't find THAT on here.
