FUROPOLY: place names and other ideas needed

Last night for some reason, I found myself looking at the Wikipedia article about Monopoly, and the idea popped into my head: what about a Furry-themed version of Monopoly?

When I woke up in the morning, I started working on it. I grabbed an image of a Monopoly board, stuck it into PowerPoint, and started drawing parts of it. I got about halfway through, then realized that it might violate some Terms of Service or something for violating Hasbro's copyright and/or patent.

I looked around and found a board that looks a little like Monopoly, but not too close. The property colors are marked differently and it has different kinds of special squares.I downloaded it and started making changes. The attached "cover art" shows what I've done so far.

The start square is WCOTP, for the West Corner of the Park on Furrymuck. I replaced "Chance" with "Luck" and a roulette wheel. Community Chest changed to "Pass the hat". Jail is currently the Torture Chamber (from the game I downloaded), but I'd like a more furry-themed idea. I also put in the lake from Furrymuck's park, and "go to Jail" changed to "Go jump in the lake". Except I used a thumbnail of the Toon Patrol from Roger Rabbit, which is more suited to Monopoly's jail. And the railroads are replaced with taxi stands, evoking Furrymuck's Taxi service.

Monopoly used to be owned by Parker Brothers. I found a copy of their logo and modified it to "Furry Sisters".

But I still need names for the properties and a few other "special" squares. I currently have two "utility" squares (lightning bolt symbols), but they don't have to remain utilities.

So I'm now I need names for those squares the properties and the utilities (or whatever) and a couple of other "special" squares. I found a map of Furrymuck, but it was last updated in 2000! And there's no reason that all the names have to come from Furrymuck. After all, there's SPR and Tapestries and...

I'm soliciting suggestions. If you can get the same-colored squares to match in some sort of theme, that would be especially nice.

Sadly, making any part of this a reference to furrymuck is akin to building a top-end computer with vacuum tubes (Note your own reference to last update in 2000). Mucks are dead (thank god) & the furry fandom is more based in real-world experience like cons or meets. You should look up more recent aspects of the furry fandom within the last decade or so & you'll find a ton of relevant references. Perhaps using cons or large city meets as properties & punishments (like convention bans) as "Jail."

An interesting idea. I'll think about it, after I see what other people suggest. Personally, I liked mucks better than new, more "immersive" options like Second Life.

I don't do any form of RP at all so they're all of the online things are irrelevant to me. I'm only into the real-world aspects of the furry fandom such as cons or local meets. It seems a growing number of furries are that way. The online-only aspects are fading away in favor of physical interaction.

Well, I haven't tried to go back to Furrymuck since like 2000 either, and I hear it was pretty much run into the ground since then. But don't diss the old-school text formats, I still find quality RP there of the kind that disappears on the newer platforms. Maybe I should check if IRC's still alive :)

Let me be clear: I don't care if it's out of date. I just want some sort of theme -- just enough to make it look interesting. I don't even have rules for this one -- it's already different enough from Monopoly that you couldn't use the Monopoly rules. That's semi-on-purpose -- I don't want trouble with Hasbro.

If you want to base it on cons and suchlike, then you can use Anthrocon and Confurgence and Rainfurrest and suchlike -- if you can find events or places or something at those cons such that you can name the squares after those to give some thematic consistency to the same-color properties and/or the properties in the same general area of the board.

This isn't a real game. It's just a silly "artwork" that came into my head and I want to make it cute and/or interesting to look at. That's all.

And if there's somebody who _does_ play on Furrymuck and/or SPR and/or Tapestries and/or Furcadia and wants to suggest locations or _something_, that would be good.

Oh, and I'm not committed to the particular colors assigned to my "properties". They were grouped that way on the original board that I lifted (it's CC-BY, so no prob there) and I changed the colors, using the electronic color codes -- black, brown, red orange, yellow, green, blue (violet, gray, white and not used yet).

Oh, and I just realized that while I put the board on Sofurry, I haven't uploaded it here yet. Gonna go fix that now.

Care to name a couple? Or maybe a fursuit designer and a maker of custom plushies? I bought one of the latter once, a birthday gift in a friend's personal species.
